There has been the odd spell of cooler times and we have seen some rain but the average daytime temperature at the moment is about 22C. Sitting in direct sunlight on the patio the temper http://www.travelblog.org/Middle-East/Cyprus/Paphos/blog-456851.html One year on The 24th September 2009 was one year on from when our journey started. What a wonderful year with many and varied experiences. They say travel broadens the mind. I agreed with the sentiment before and even more so now.We had decided to celebrate the day by having a day out and visiting the monastery at Kykkos.Having looked at the map we decided to go via Polis not the most obvious route but http://www.travelblog.org/Middle-East/Cyprus/Paphos/blog-439835.html Ayia Napa Protaras Sunday September 6th is my birthday and Monday 7th September is our fourth wedding anniversary. So sometime in July we had decided that we would book ourselves a little holiday in Ayia Napa around this time and get to do some exploring of the other end of the Island.Pat did some surfing and research on the internet and booked us into a hotel called The So Nice Boutique Hotel Ayia Napa for http://www.travelblog.org/Middle-East/Cyprus/Famagusta/blog-435082.html A Cyprus summer Following several requests I have created this entry an update on life.Well here we are as I start to type up this blog the date is 4th August 2009. It has been a month and a half since the last entry and we have been enjoying the Cyprus summer. One of the more significant findings from our life is that time doesnrsquot slow down. The weeks whiz past with no lesser speed than when we were l http://www.travelblog.org/Middle-East/Cyprus/Paphos/blog-426378.html Parents Part Two Sunday 7th June 2009We had decided on a beach day and took a drive up to Ladies Mile Beach just outside Limassol. The wind was kinder to us today than on our last visit and we there spent a very pleasant time soaking up the sun.I hadnrsquot realised how gradual the drop was and you can walk quite a way out before you achieve much depth. There were a lot more people about today. We had a lunch at http://www.travelblog.org/Middle-East/Cyprus/Paphos/blog-409167.html Konia June Sunday 31st May 2009 saw us with an early start and a drive off to Larnaca airport to pick up my parents for a fortnights holiday with us.This was our first drive in this direction and we arrived not long after they had got through the arrivals and outside. We had a quiet first day as they had travelled overnight and did a wander around Kato Paphos in the evening.Monday we took a drive up to L http://www.travelblog.org/Middle-East/Cyprus/Paphos/blog-405873.html Konia May We spent more time travelling around visiting places with Patrsquos mother.Friday 15th May we strolled around Kato Paphos had drinks at the Seagull restaurant overlooking the Lido.Saturday 16th May we had a long drive out and visited Kolossi castle and the on to Akrotiri to look at the RAF Station. There are a number of legal business and personal matters that we need to sort out not least our residency the car water electricity home internet access finding how to best to get mail and so on.There are a number of ways of founding out information you ask someone who has done something similar you ask the http://www.travelblog.org/Middle-East/Cyprus/Paphos/blog-397429.html There and back again Well so much has happened. Having settled into the apartment time passed by.The weather was still decent. The temperatures were generally above 15C most days and not much below 10 overnight. A fair amount of rain which generally fell in massive deluges. The Island being short of water this is a good thing. The reservoirs which were at 5 of capacity when we arrived were at 16.1 when I left http://www.travelblog.org/Middle-East/Cyprus/Paphos/blog-392689.html First week Well we've been here a week now and gradually getting our feet under the table. At first we didn't really know where we lived. I know that's a strange thing to say but we were driven out the first time by the Estate Agent to this and another couple of properties. So not knowing the area we had to ask for directions and it took us until the third time to drive straight here without making a wron http://www.travelblog.org/Middle-East/Cyprus/Paphos/blog-368972.html Bullet points Steve Pat MeadowsGrand Tour 2008 2009Started Wednesday 24th September 2009 Rendlesham Suffolk EnglandFinished Thursday 22nd January 2009 in Konia Paphos Cyprus.Number of days 121Miles completed 7210Number of Ferry crossings TenNumber of War Graves Visited Approximately 500000Number of nights without a bed TwoDifferent places of accommodation 43 excluding above Countries Visited http://www.travelblog.org/Middle-East/Cyprus/Paphos/blog-368971.html Konia Wednesday 21st January 2009.Today is 17 weeks travelling. We relaxed for a while in the room. Not long after six we went to the internet room todo some surfing. Then for a walk to get something to eat.
