I went and saw another doctor about my leg today. The good news is that my ankle isn't fractured...the bad news is that I do have torn ligaments. I guess if it's not one thing it's another, oh well. :) Can't wait to see you all in a few weeks time! [View Full Entry]

I decided that since the weather was supposed to be sorry in Roma this weekend I'd take a weekend trip to one of the places I wanted to visit in europe. I arrived in Dublin and met up with my friend Matt who's giving me a place to stay while I'm here and got a mini-tour of the city, which is sooooo beautiful! He even taught me to longboard, which was really awesome until I fell off and had to take an evening trip to the emergency room only 8 hours after my arrival, welcome to Dublin...lol. Matt and three other [View Full Entry]

Saturday: I got up at 5:30 to get ready for my trip to Pompeii. Matt and Tommy ended up going with me on the group trip, getting to go for free since several people didnt show who had already paid for a spot. We played cards and slept most of the way there--the scenery on the drive was beautiful, many more mountains than our area! When we arrived in Pompeii we took a guided tour of the city, which was really neat but somewhat abbreviated because of the rain that started about the same time we arrived. We got to see [View Full Entry]

Friday Fun!

 Europe » Italy » Lazio » Rome
This was definately the best time I've had since arriving in Europe!!!!!!!!! I slept in then met Esther, Matt, and Gillian for a late lunch by the Pantheon. Matt is Esther's friend from home who's studying in Ireland this semester. We went to a really cute pissaria/resturant near by--we had a huge meal--definately some of the best food I've had so far! After that we went to Giolitti for gelato and then walked around for a while. We headed up to the Vatican where Matt and Esther ran inside for a few mins--I was wearing shorts so I couldnt go in, [View Full Entry]

Easter and Beaches

 Europe » Italy » Lazio » Rome
I missed you all sooooooooo much this weekend...I think this was my first Easter away from home! I thought I'd make sure you knew that before I told you how fun my weekend was :) Sunday I got up at 5am to make it to our Easter sunrise service in Villa Bourghese, a huge park overlooking the Vatican. We had a brisk 45 min walk to make it there, but it was a beautiful morning and it felt good to start off my day in the peace of the early morning instead of my usual 10am roll out of bed and [View Full Entry]

Welcome To China

 Europe » Italy » Lazio » Rome
So...this was too funny... Yesterday after my Italian class my friend Esther invited me to go with her to meet up with some girls doing mission work/studying in spain. She met them on a weekend trip up there to visit friends, and we were going to meet them and show them around since there here for a visit. We got to the Pantheon a little early so we decided to just sit on the corners of the pillars at the front to wait. There's always a ton of people in that area in the evenings, and that night was no exception. [View Full Entry]

3-20-07 I awoke to my Chezc roommates talking this morning. Tey were very nice and one gave me a swiss chocolate egg that tasted sooooooo good! We left the hostel and headed for the Astor Kinsington, the new hostel we booked. We found. We found out when we arrived that we couldnt check in until later because of remodeling, so we left our things and explored for a while. After we got to check in we went to Kamdon St so Sadie could get her ear pierced--apparrantly my ear piercing inspired her... It looks really good on her, though. We did [View Full Entry]

3-15-07 We got up early to leave Glasgow and head to Edinburgh this morning, but got on the wrong type of train so we had to pay for another ticket...crazy europeans...oh well...The countryside on the way to Edinburgh is beautiful, rich green rolling hills covered in sheep on one side, and the ocean on the other. Once in Edinburgh we wandered around for awhile then caught the shuttle to our hostel, the Globetrotter, which is a 15 min drive from the city's center. It's a great location, right on the bay so there is a great view from wherever you are [View Full Entry]

I love it here!!! It is so cold and windy but amazing! Everything is green and covered in sheep and hilly just like it should be! We have toured Edinburgh Castle, taken a bus tour of the city, visited the local palace, eaten some amazing Scottish food, gotten to know some locals, walked the Royal Mile, gotten lost, gone shopping, seen lots of men in kilts ;), and a ton of other stuff that I will go into greater detail about later, but I dont have a ton of time right now! This is such an amazing place with wonderful people, [View Full Entry]

RBC Women's Retreat

 Europe » Italy » Lazio » Rome
Last weekend my friend Jen and I went with Roma Baptist Church on a women's retreat! We left early on Friday morning with a few other ladies to help set everything up. We arrived in Castel Gandolfo around noon and ate at a small resturant beside the beautiful lake. The hotel that we stayed at has been converted from a monastary. It sits high on the hills surrounding the lake, giving beautiful views of the surrounding countryside and the sea, which is only a few kilometers away. Jen and my's room had a great view of the gardens just beside the [View Full Entry]
