So lovely to be able to spend time with your father. The Love Family is purchasing our house on Wednesday. It will be nice to put the tumbleweed life behind for a while and grow our foots on a stable piece of land.
Hello old friend! (SIT and M'sia) Hi, I'm going through a box if old letters and found one from you. Then u googled you and voila! If you want to get in touch, email me!
Hi Jill! So glad to see you still teaching a lot---and looks like loving every minute of it. Your students sound engaging and smart and wonderful. They're lucky to have you!
giving thanks on 2 continents hi Jill, I'm so glad you had a wonderful visit with your dad & family & wish you all the best for the new year. I have finally moved to Portland!
Giving Thanks Dear Jill--Sending you wishes for a good (and healthy) 2017. I always enjoy reading your blog. You know so many people!! I'm sorry that your father is struggling with dementia. My father-in-law had dementia as well. It sounds as if he is being well-cared for in a safe and secure environment, but nevertheless, that is one disease that really robs people of their dignity. I hope your back is feeling better by now. If it's not, please get it checked out! Love, Lisa
Hola, hermana! Sad we only spoke once while you were in the US... I admire you and Claire's fabulous love, patience and kindness with your dad. I don't envy your position. It scares me for my future. My heart is breaking for both has good times with you all and his special friend! It's that smile and kind eyes - ladykiller! Do you know anyone who had a TENS machine? SAved my back when I hurt it... Cici is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo adorable!!!! Glad she brings you so much joy!!!! Kisssssssessss and hugggggggggggs
Happy Hannukah! Clair really looks like you with long hair in the first picture of her above!! Hope the rest of your holidays are as blessed as your thanksgivings!!
Glad to hear from you! Hi Jill, I didn't even know you were getting surgery! But thank you for filling me in, and it sounds as if you did quite well. I'm just glad that you are so pro-active and so good about staying on top of it all. You sound healthy and, I hope, happy. As always, I am missing your energy. I'm also making an effort this week to reach out and give a virtual hug to all the people who are dear to me. Love you. Julia
surgery! Hey Jill . . . somehow I missed any mention of your surgery over the past couple of months! Glad to see this blog post and glad to know all went well and that you are out and about and on the road again!
Hola chicamiga! Wonderful, informative post. Thanks so much for sharing. I am passing on your insurance information to Steve Lacroix as he is asking much about health care in Ecuador. Must, must, must get together in the new year. So much love to you and please give my regards to Shana, too.
your gratitude...makes me think too of how grateful I feel for my life here. I've read your blogs over the years and have enjoyed your musings of living here in Ecuador. I love reading about your adventures and the people you meet, hang with, work with, etc. Thnx for sharing with "us-at large" Jill. Your musings enrich me immensely.

Thank-you for the lovely blog post. I wish you all the best for the operation and a good recovery. Take it easy as instructed. Looks like you are the Uber driver de jour in Ecuador!
Love from Charmaine
Jill - great blog as usual, but I'm sorry to hear about your upcoming operation. Best of luck!!!!! Keep in touch and let me know how it turns out. AS usual, your life in Ecuador sounds almost totally idyllic, and wonderfully dog-filled.

Muddy adventures with EWB Hi Jill, thanks again for sharing your adventures with us! Your stories are exciting! Hard to imaginge that this is your daily life! Mine is quite a bit different....
Hi Jill
Thanks for sharing your life adventures. I remember the bed shaking in the middle of the night when I was in Antigua many years ago. I found it perturbing but it was nothing like the dramatic movement you describe.
Thanks for sharing I totally enjoy reading of your adventures (your life). A work friend just had a trip to Ecuador in your area. I had shared your blog with him as I thought your narratives would give him great info. He enjoyed them and loved, loved, loved his trip to Ecuador. He wants to go back! Thank you for sharing your life in Ecuador. I experience it all vicariously through you! Janet
Glad to hear from you And glad to have more details about the earthquake....What a lot of loss there has been....As always, you seem to be doing valuable work.... Miss you! --Julia
ugh Sorry you've been having Dangerprone Daphney experiences! Sick, bedmites, earthquakes, toilet trouble, tire trouble, funeral concerts! OY! Hope things have brightened up for you and Cici!!!! <3 and miss my Jilly Jill!!!!
Earthquake Jill - sent you a message to another email address (gmail) but don't know if it still works, but have been worrying about whether you are okay after the recent earthquake. I'm sure everyone would like to know. Can't find a recent blog from you since it happened. Do hope all's well. Love, Sheila
Thank you Jill Thank you again for a delightful several days in San Diego. I loved catching up with you, sharing the latest in our respective lives, meeting your friends, and especially getting the chance to introduce you to the joys of riding a Segway! Fascinating blog--as always!
Missed ya! Jill, So sorry you got sick in the USA when you had so many friends and family get togethers to look forward to. We were in France and Switzerland for the last three weeks; back yesterday, so still jet lagged. The bad thing is we are off to a Caribbean cruise with our foreign exchange daughters and JJ this Sat, so not much time at home; back a week and B is off to teach in Germany. Spring has been hectic. Hope you are feeling better. I caught a particularly bad cold in France so flew home all congested too - my ears didn't explode either, but damn they wanted to!! Have a great time with our engineers; take care of yourself.
I first came to Ecuador in the late 1980's to teach English in Quito. I fell in love with this country, the natural beauty, the warmth and generosity of the people. I went on to work in international education on nearly every continent, but Ecuador kept calling me back. This Chicago girl has a "latina soul"! I've now been back in Ecuador, living here as a permanent resident since 2006. I have done all different kinds of work, from private teaching to teacher training to working with American volunteers as a driver/interpreter to filling in as a substitute hotel manager. I like to keep my sched... full info
