Nha Trang
It wasn't my favourite place in Vietnam, but as in every country, the cities are dangerous, but where a lot of the action is. We stayed here and partied for Christmas with other english-speakers, that was it.

You look really hot!!
I loved your traditional white outfit and your blue dress. Too bad I don't live in Canada.

The Ladyboy Bandits
Why would I want to visit such a dangerous place? what are you guys doing there? If you want to experience danger you can go to any downtown city at nght in the States.

The blog
What a great idea. I've been reading all the time and thinking back to when Colby and I were there! You forgot to mention cockroach, tarantula, grilled magot, and grilled something-that-looks-like-a-robin! Or is that Cambodia! Internet is accessible in Cambodia and I heard Laos too. Not too expensive but certainly slow. Good for a rainy day or some down time waiting for a bus! Hope you enjoy the karaoke EVERYWHERE in Cambodia (especially on busses!). Hope we keep hearing from you. Can't wait till you get to some places I haven't been...need to decide where the next destination will be. Take care!

Okay...beer is 20 cents.
Hey mom, good to hear from you. I haven't even read Evan's blog yet, I'll have to when we get back! Beer on the tap is always about 3000 dong for a litre, which is about 20cents. It's about 5% and tastes a bit metallic at times, but DAMN it works. I haven't got around to emailing everybody yet, but yes I have emailed Nik. Have YOUUU invited him over for dinner yet? hehe. I spent Christmas on the beach and dancing with other tourists at a night club...not exactly church (good idea though). I've gained a few pounds if anything. I can't even describe some of the SHIZA that the Vietnemese will eat...I'll let pictures do the talking! We are talking ANYTHINGGG! Even goat PENIS and RAT are on the menu here...or porcupine if you like!

Thanks!
Thanks for the response Pete and Jen. I remember you Pete! I was a wee one though. I found your compliment very encouraging. I think the more I write, the better I get at it. I've been lazy for the last bit though! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Christina!
Hey Christina! Sorry it has taken me sooo long to get to you, but MERRY BELATED CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEARS!!! Pass the message on to your sisters too! I'm so glad you're reading my blog...it really doesn't do this experience justice, but as I keep writing I am getting better at expressing myself on the page. Unfortunately, I wont be able to contact anyone for a couple months soon. We are going to Laos and Cambodia, where it's so remote, that the internet costs 50 cents a minuite and it's a VERY slooowww connection. I miss you guys A LOT, and wish I was going to Australia as well! Maybe...who knows. I will be giving you a ring for sure when I get back, I need to get out more. I might be poor though! :) Have fun in the snow! Love Jess!

Excellent descriptions
We are totally enjoying both Evan and your descriptions of your adventures. I've sent you an email. A few questions: Is beer actually 15 cents each? Have you been emailing some people (Nic)? What do you think you will do on Christmas day? (Go to church?). Have you lost any weight? I'm sure you've probably run into some strange meals. Love mom

Great to hear from you
Your mom and I were soooo glad to hear from you. I Googled Cat Ba Island and Halong Bay to see some pictures. So many unique-looking islands rising sharply from the ocean! Watch out for that sun...it will sneak up on you! Sounds like you are both staying healthy, that is good. Keep a close eye (and nose!) out for food that may negatively affect your digestive systems. I hope you are finding good things to drink! Love Dad

You bring back memories!
I will definately keep up with your blog Jess, it is so exciting to read about all the places where Colby and I were a year ago now. Vietnam is wonderful and overwhelming! Sounds like you're having great weather for the north though...when we were there at the end of December it was cold, cold, cold and rainy! Halong Bay is phenomenal even with the tourists isn't it? We also stayed on Cat Ba and toured around on kayaks and bikes. Have you taken in any shopping yet. Hanoi had some wonderful markets for cheap clothes...but they're not as trendy as further south I don't think! I will live vicariously through you! Keep us posted.
