La ciudad de Cordoba y los cooooordobeses

Luckily we were able to coordinate a full day of Cordoba into our Argentina trip. While in Argentina we spent most of our time in the province of Cordoba as we were in Traslasierra which is about 4 hours by bus to the city Cordoba. Cordoba is another awesome city of Argentina ... it is deemed the college town of Argentina as there are 15 universities in the city. It has a feel much more like Bueno

Salta

Beautiful Salta ... tucked up in the northwest corner of Argentina. It still seems weird to think of heading northwest to get to a warmer climate but as are things here in the southern hemisphere. Half of the time we were in Salta we used the city as a base city to make beautiful day trips to Cachi and Cafayate ... but we also were able to enjoy walking around the city and having some good food.
Another day trip from Salta.... we made our way to Cachi On the way we enountered a beautiful stretch of the Andes Mountains. The route was quite interesting including many hairpin turns winding up the mountains as we made our way up to over 11500 feet. Stopping along the way for the goats and cows to cross the road and praying we wouldn39t meet a bus that we had to pass as the road was not

We have left Villa de Las Rosas said hasta pronto to our Argentine family and now are UP NORT in the providence of Salta. Many people told us that this was the place to come for our vacation and coming north would get us a little warmer weather... very appealing so here we are To get here we took a 4 hour bus ride from Villa de Las Rosas to Cordoba. From Cordoba we took an overnight bus 12

Once again we are amazed as we have been so fortunate to stay with such a welcoming and wonderful family. The hospitality was amazing and we couldn39t have asked for a better two weeks with our Argentine family Cecelia39s cooking was amazing and she drove us all over the place to see the area of traslasierra Sofi and the rest of the family were so much fun and kept us on the go at all time

Today ... Sunday the 26th of July ... we enjoyed one of the greatest gastronomic events of our lives A true argentine asado. We are extremely lucky to have been able to have this opportunity because we are staying with an Argentine family and they invited us to be a part of their asado. In the morning before the asado we went for a walk to the city center of Villa de Las Rosas ... the city wh

We are happy to report that we have arrived in the Southern Cone of South America... Argentina After an overnight flight crossing the equator we landed in Buenos Aires around 8AM Monday morning. Despite all of the advice wed been given we failed to believe that we would be going to a place where it is indeed winter. It started to become more of a reality when the Argentine flight attendant w

Well as all good things go ... they have to come to an end. And that is the case for us here in Ecuador. After leaving Otavalo we made our way back to Quito where we would spend the last 2 days of our trip taking in the things that we had not yet seen. We arrived to our original hotel around 500. Just in time to get settled in for the last few days and then make our way to a restaurant for d

After leaving the jungle town Tena we hopped on a bus for an 8 hour trek to our next destination which happened to be a small mountain town north of Quito called Otavalo. Riding public buses in Latin America is a whole different kind of experience We were never surprised by what came onto the bus... whether it be a puppy in a diaper random unidentified animals in boxes with breathing holes in th

So after a great time in Banos we made our way to Tena. Going to Tena really shows off the great diversity of the country of Ecuador. Up to this point we had been in the Andes mountain region but as we descended seriously .. an ear popping 2000 m drop in altitude from Banos to Tena in a rather quick 3 hour bus ride we felt like we were seriously in a different country.
A banos a banos a banos ... that was the call that we heard over and over again as we made our way south to the city of banos. Our bus trip south was filled with pretty much everything that you could imagine including seeing a group of european tourists laying in a truck bed presumably hitch hiking people on our bus with ducks stopping about every 10 min to let people off and allow random vendo

Our next few days in Quito were a nice opportunity to acclimate to the altitude and get to see a little bit of the city. Our second day in Quito after enjoying a nice breakfast of fresh fruit fruit juice cafe eggs and toast from our plesent staff at our hostel we made our way to the old town. Quito is huge which we will describe later but has what they refer to as new town and old town. We

We made it to the middle of the world ... as the sign says as you get off the plane. I suppose that the middle of the world is the burning hot magma core. That is not where we are ... we are however at the equator in the country of Ecuador. Actually when we arrived to Quito Ecuador on Saturday we were a little south of the equator. However our first day in Ecuador we made a day trip to the m

Andy was lucky enough to be asked to be the best man in Brock's wedding so we were able to escape the cold and snow of Wisconsin for a little fun in the sun in Central America. We were only able to be there for 5 days but we made the most of our time. We arrived early on a Saturday morning after h

Well no better time or way to end a summer in Spain than with the camino So we did just that El camino de Santiago is 'The Walk of St. James.' Now people from all over the world do the camino for many different reasons. We weren't quite sure what we had gotten oursel

Steph and I made our way to my favorite town in Spain Valladolid. After a 7 year absence it was time to get reaquainted with the city where all of my ideas about traveling got started. As Steph and I headed north through the heart of Castilla y Leon it was like a complete time warp for me ... possibly for Steph too but she was sleeping during the entire time we were in the train.
