Snow Fall - From: Ride to the Gay Bar
Hi Bryan, That is cold!!! Thankfully, we haven't had any real cold weather in the midwest yet. I miss riding with you as well. I've always told you that you were the best snowmobile partner ever. Hopefully we'll be able to ride together again.

Snow Fall - From: Ride to the Gay Bar
Bob, You and the midwest are having a hell of a lot more snow than me in Bondurant. The average snowfall in the valley (6307') is 400" per year. So far, we have had 3 ft. although none of it has melted. I saw your reference to me and cold on the bike and sleds and I though I'd give an update here...I have a thermometer on my deck...-21 this morning. The lowest was -31 just before we had the one snowstorm. It's dry and not as cold as it sounds, but the temperature coupled with 40 mph winds make the exposed areas as cold as they have ever been. I miss riding with you and our adventures on sled trips. Be safe. I hope you broke the sled in the proper way..Ride it like you stole it.

I would do it every year if I could, as matter of fact, if I get the chance I am moving there, I love it, the people or different and all things seem to just go so much smoother than it does here in Texas. Wish you the best and read every word of your trip. Thanks for the memories. Jenny

That is so cool you are a rough and tough man's man yet can say the nicest things about your wife and family and admit you shed a tear or two on the trip. Yes, the Good Lord has blessed you Bob. When I was little and used to live waaaaaaaaaaay up north I would lie in bed waiting and waiting for it to get dark and of course it never would--you'd just eventually fall asleep anyway. Of course the flip side is the winter when you'd walk to school in the morning and it would be pitch black and by 3:30 when you had to walk home it would be pitch black again.

Loved you blog to day. It brought back such wonderful memories; I can't wait to go back. I have been to AK 13 or 14 times since 1988...one of my absolute favorite places on earth. I have backpacked across a glacier in Wrangell St-Elias ... if you get a chance, take the road back to McCarthy, AK. Wonderful place...have been there 3 times. Have rafted the John's River above the Arctic Circle; have dog sledded 4 days (near John's River); have been to Nome for the end of the Iditarod (sponsor a racer); Denali is a place not to be missed; definitely worth taking the bus back!; have been to an eco-tourism lodge across Cook Inlet; have backbacked in Lake Clark National Park (awesome); have been flown in and set down in the middle of the caribou migration (incredible!)...and drove an RV up the Alcan. Then I bought an Inn in 2002 and I haven't been back to AK since. Your blog has made me yearn to go back! Thanks for the memories!
