25th March G'day, after leaving Kata, me Bully and Will made our way to the island of Ko Phi Phi. Before our boat from Kata docked in Ko Phi Phi pier you could tell how scenic the island was, cue Japanese tourists on the boat mimicking Titanic-esque poses at the front of the boat with glimpses of the island in the background of their photos-"Don't let go Jack""Do You trust me?" "I'm the king of the world" and all that jazz. It was actually around this neck of the woods where Leonardo Di Caprio filmed another one of his famous films, [View Full Entry]

G'day heres my rundown of the last few days events. 21st March The first place we visited in Phuket was Patong, to put it mildly we didn't rate it that much. We'd heard from other travellers that Phuket was meant to be well good but what greeted us at Patong was basically Benidorm: neon signs outside every bar, English, German, Scandanavian pub grub signs everywhere (not that thats a bad thing!) and worstly fat Europeans with a young Thai girl on their arm-Sleazville! Despite getting physically harassed by about 10 Thai girls outside every bar we passed we still managed to [View Full Entry]

Oi oi. We arrived at Khao Sok National Park quite late on 19th March. We were staying in a place called Jungle huts, it was only 100 baht a night (1quid50p) and was really good, managed to arrive just in time to catch Liverpool beat Newcastle on the TV in the bar. The next day we set off for the National Park (Basically a jungle with some footpaths and signposts). We stocked up on water beforehand expecting to have some intensive trekking to do. We decided not to bother hiring a guide to show us around the park to save ourselves [View Full Entry]

How do, Just thought i'd leave a message telling you all how little i've been doing since my last blog. The last 4 days have consisted of sitting by the beach with the odd walk into town to get some food. My insomnia struck for about 3 nights running, probably partly to do with my body clock being out of sync due to the full moon party and the recent travelling. We went back to Haad Rin a couple of nights after the Full Moon Party to see our friends Astrid and Effje for the last time, they were starting the [View Full Entry]

Arrived in Ko Pha Ngan after a bus journey of about 12 hours and a 3 hour ferry ride- Needless to say we didn't look or feel a million dollars. Our guesthouse, that the helpful woman at Bangkok train station sorted out for us, is really good- we've got tons of space in our room. Most of 13th March consisted of trying to recuperate and get a little bit of sleep before the Full Moon Party, i pretty much failed on both counts. As darkness decended we got a taxi to the South East of the Island, Haad Rin, where the [View Full Entry]

Back in Bangers! Asia » Thailand » Central Thailand » Bangkok
12th March We had another early start today, we had to catch a bus to the Thai/Cambodian border and then get another Bus to Bangkok. The minibus we were on until we reached the border was absolutely horrendous; we were on it for 6 hours. The windscreen had cracks all over it and the bus itself was so full that me and Will both had to sit on these makeshift seats with no back support in the middle of the “aisle”. The “roads” in Cambodia tend to be dirt tracks with rocks all over them- it is such a Rocky ride, [View Full Entry]

Yalreet, We arrived in Siem Reap on 9th March. When we got off the bus it was absolute pandamonium- There were so many Tuk Tuk drivers hastling us to get in their Tuk Tuk. Some of them seemed quite agressive aswell, especially this one guy who held up a placard with our names on it (he was given our names by our guesthouse in Phnom Penh) He was so annoyed when we didn't get in his Tuk Tuk, screaming "WHY YOU NOT GO WITH NAME" and throwing his palacard on the ground! When we arrived at our guesthouse Will realised that [View Full Entry]

Another Capital City Asia » Cambodia » South » Phnom Penh
Been in the Capital of Cambodia, Phnom Penh, from 5th of March. The bus journey from Kratie was ok- it seems that everyone in south East Asia is obsessed with Karaoke, on the tv on the bus they were playing loads of cheesy music including the Spice Girls with the words on screen! Our guesthouse was quite nice and we spent a lot of time in there just playing pool. In and around Phnom Penh there are a lot of places that shed light on the darker side of Cambodian history. In 1975 the Khemer Rouge, a communist group led by [View Full Entry]

Early start again this morning, set the alarm for 6.20am (Need not have bothered due to the roosters being as reliable as ever and waking us up with plenty of time to spare) Got a quick boat ride back to mainland Laos, and set off in a truck with a few other tourists to the border. Firstly we had to "Depart" Laos, which incurred a $2 administration fee (Aka paying for the border workers beer Laos tonight), after that we headed to the Cambodian border and passed through without any problems. When we were in Cambodia we decided it would be [View Full Entry]

4000 Islands Asia » Laos » South » Si Phan Don
Got the nightbus to Pakse from Vientiane last night, it took about 10 hours but I reckon i slept through most of it, so it was ok. We arrived at Pakse at 6am, feeling and looking pretty rough: We were greeted by tons of tuk tuk drivers offering to drive us everywhere- we managed to fend them off so we could get our bearings. We decided to leave Pakse straight away and catch a "bus" to the 4000 Islands (as the name suggests, these are simply loads of Islands that lie in the South of Laos in the Mekong river) The [View Full Entry]
