me too!! Enjoyed reading about your travels. I will be taking the same trip in April 2010 so hope I see you at one point so we can talk about the highlights of the ride up the Seine. I'm also doing a 5-day pre-London before boarding the M/S Bizet with Grand Circle tours. Talk soon, I hope.
Fun! Sounds like a great trip. Looking forward to more entries. I'm impressed that you two caught the nightlife. On our river trip last year we couldn't stay awake past 10 p.m.!
incrediable! Sorry - don't remember a whole lot of French but the photos and stories are fantastique! Thanks so much for sharing them with nous americaines!
Camping Near Keenland Highly recommend Kentucky Horse Park for camping near Keenland. It has hookups for water and elec. Sewer dump station. Good, clean laundry (no horse blankets please). Good, clean showers. Lovely playground (we invite relatives with children living in the area and they love it). Good Camp store. Picnic tables and fireplaces - they allow campfires. There is a pool; but we have only been there in Oct. and April (coinciding with the Keenland meets).
Car for Fort DeSoto Visitor I would say that over a week's time you might want a car; mostly because there is so much to see and do away from the park. There are bicycles for rent and you can also rent kayacks. The park is sprawley and you might find that you need some form of transportation - even to get from the campsites to the beach. I am so sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. I don't blog much in the summer and just took a look at the site. Hope you had a great time. The area is wonderful.
Ballston Lake Access Hi Julia - sorry I took so long to get back to you. Ballston Lake has a free public fishing pier, access to a free hike/bike trail and free launch site for small car top boats (kayacks, etc.) at the north end of the lake. Access and a parking lot off of Outlet Road. Outlet runs between Lake Road and Route 50 (where Charlton Road comes into Saratoga Rd. - north Charlton Rd. Town of Ballston - there is another in the town of Glenville). The Good Times Restaurant on Lake Road has outdoor seating on a great deck with a lake view (good sunsets). The Good Times also has a boat launch for motor boats, fishing boats, etc. I believe the launching fee for fishing boats and motor boats is about $9. Other than that access to the lake is private. Great fishing!
Question Hi! I was wondering if you could tell me where on the lake one can swim and/or relax by the water, and where there are hiking trails. I'd like to take a day trip to Ballston Lake, and want to spend it entirely outdoors. Thanks in advance!
I'm planning a trip... I was wondering if you could help me out here.
I'll be flying into the Sarasota airport and I want to spend my week at DeSoto, but I think renting a car that will sit for a week (because I'll be lounging on the beach all week) would be a waste of money.
Are there shuttles that take people down there?
Thanks!
Vive Georgia! Hi Guys,
Yes, Atlanta is a great 'town." I've been there a couple times and enjoyed the botanical gardens and such. Your dual museum experience sounded awesome, as did everything else! Be safe.

Oh My Look at these beautiful pictures. You guys look like you're having a blast. HaH, I wish that Jeff and I could take a break and go on a long vacation like this. Can't wait to here about it all when you return!
Hey there! I also happen to be a big fan of Matlacha, FL! My Mom and Dad live there - my mom is Marie Cahill, the artist you mentioned. Her paintings really capture the colorful and artsy spirit of Matlacha - so glad you mentioned them. Enjoy!
We went to Homossa a couple of weeks ago, again - had a good time but Lu just slept -- he wasn't going to give us a show! My cousin Louise and Frank Stagliano are here with us. They came down with us in Jan and will stay until March ??
Beautiful Wildlife Joanne and Wes:
These are the most beautiful wildlife photos I've ever seen before in my life. These pictures look better here then in the book.
Still Looks Beautiful Joanne and Wes,
These places still looks gorgous. I wish that I could be with you guys, just to see some of these wonderful places. I'm sure the food is excellent at these places also. Have a good time, and I can't wait to hear all about it when you return.
Nice, Nice Oh my, look at these places. I'd love to see this place sometime. I love the flowers and gazebo. Jeff loves the koi pond. That gives me an for our koi pond. Have a blast! and mom and I will see you when you get home. Love Lauren.
Will I see you there? I'm heading to FL tomorrow (Thurs) and will be in the Villages until Sunday then on down to Melbourne for a day or so, then to Vero Beach for 4 days. After that, over to Sarasota to visit friends there and then up to Weeki Wachee to my stepdaughter's for a few days. Whew!' Will play golf with Joe and LJ on Wed the 11th, I think. Joanne Sole will be there, too.
