Cayuga lake I REALLY enjoyed this blog as this area is home for me. I went to high school in Trumansburg and loved going back to spend time with my parents until my dad died in 1995. My step-mother stayed on for a couple of years until their place was sold...a beautiflu spot just up from the Boy Scout camp off Rt 89. My children loved "granddad's farm" (not really a farm, but they had 68 acres with woods and streams, etc). I would have bought the place myself but the 6 hr drive was just too far for a weekend place. We did all enjoy it, though. I know Swedish Hill and Goose Watch and Deerhead. MacKenzie-Childs, on the other side of the lake, was many times a day trip with my step-mother. We went when it was just getting started and watched it grow. On our visits we enjoyed stops at favorite antique shops and restaurants along the way. When walking on NYC's Upper West Side, I often stop and browse at the multi-story M-C shop on W 57th. Like their place in upstate NY, it's an amazing visual feast. Have enjoyed your blogs..welcome home!
wine tasting The wine trail was a big event in my early 20's. A few of the guys would leave about 6 hours prior to a formal party to procure the wine. It was always great fun and often led to "sloppy behavior"... If you have not done the cayuga wine trail - get on it!
Welcome Almost Home! Very interesting and beautiful - scenes and children - makes me want to go to the races!
Have a safe trip back to your beautiful lake!

Kentucky! LOVE the photos and stories! Keeneland is gorgeous, and also wish Saratoga enforced the dresscode, at least in the clubhouse (snob or not, I'm just sayin'). I'm glad Funny Cide's at KHP. Was there several years ago - saw Cigar and John Henry. It's a beautiful place and a testimony to all things horses. Kentucky is beautiful - it's a whole state of Saratoga County! ( : Enjoy your time there and travel safe!
Nashville Update HI Joanne and Wes
Daniel, Scott and I were in Nashville last week. If you are still near by, don't miss the Loveless Cafe for the best fried chicken, pulled pork and biscuits in the South. We also got a kick out of a Tommy Tour -- three hours of fun facts and star gossip. Plus, when we got in the bus, a family of 5 from Voorhesville was on it with us!
Safe travels, Amy
GOOD OL'NASHVILLE! YOUR SUMMARIES OF DOWNTOWN NASHVILLE AND RESTAURANTS BROUGHT BOB AND I GREAT MEMORIES...I REMEMBER BEING IN THE BOOT STORE.......SOOOO EXPENSIVE, BUT I ASSUME MOST PEOPLE BUY THE ONE PAIR AND THEY LAST A LIFETIME...WELL, AT MY AGE ANYWAY... LOL.....YOUR WEATHER LOOKS WONDERFUL AND LOOKS LIKE YOU AND WES ARE ENJOYING EVERYTHING...BOB AND I SAW AN ALL-STAR LINE UP AT THE RYMAN AUDITORIUM WHEN WE WERE THERE AND WENT TO A FANTASTIC HONKEY TONK/WESTERN BAR AFTERWARDS WHERE THE WANNABE CROONERS AND GEE-TAR PICKERS WERE PLAYING THEIR LATEST, AND HOPING TO BE DISCOVERED.....YA KNOW, THERE IS SO MUCH TO DO AND SEE IN THIS GREAT USA...WE STILL HAVE NOT SEEN IT ALL...SAFE MOTORING AND BEST REGARDS...HELENE
Oh I Wish I Was There~ Wow-I have never been to New "Olins" and have always wanted to so thanks for giving this girl a taste of the Big Easy. Great phots and descriptions as always--love the photo of the voodoo shop!
Pat O'Brien's We stood in line in front of Pat O'Brien's on St. Peter St. waiting for Preservation Jazz to open. It sounded like a happy crowd was in there. The music I heard through the windows sounded great! Thanks for the tip; only one more day here; but will try to check up on Eddie.
The Big Easy eh. Sounds like a good time in N.O. but you did miss a very good 4 stakes card at the big A today. I'm sure you have lots of suggested places to visit and time is short but if you get the chance, stop into Pat O'Briens (Ordering the Hurricane is optional) on St. Peter St. and let me know if Eddie is still there playing the thimbells. He'd have to be ~100 years old now but who knows. We spent a drunken but memorable night there once in another lifetime....
Thanks, Guys True - we do use the RV mucho in the winter . and have found a nice life style "on the road" for much of the winter. But summer with ya'all up north is too good to miss - we don't use The Schooner much when there is so much to do at home.
Schooner Travel Wes and Joanne, you have the be the penultimate RV travelers. Most folks I know leave it parked 51 weeks a year in the driveway and rue the day they laid out the cash for such a vehicle. You two actually use yours and seem to have a great season every year traveling and discovering in and around the Sunshine State. I like seeing the parts of Florida you visit, you find the "old Florida" that the fancy advertising agency's and today's hurried vacationers seem to have forgotten.
Keep on rolling
Mark and Jean
What an amazing place! Route 30A is amazing and looks like so much fun! I'd never heard about this part of FLA, now I hope to visit there! Thanks for "featuring" it on your blog! ( :
Great photos! We're talking about a trip to the old sod within the next 24 months or so, most likely in June or July. Thanks for sharing. I love the toast. Never heard it before and it's a perfect irish toast!

Beautiful shots Hey you two - you are in my favorite part of Florida and I'm here - but was in FL for 10 days recently and froze. Still, played golf and had fun with friends and family. You two are enjoying every minute of life and that's perfect1 thanks for sharing with all of us - love it. Wes - the onion rings weren't the attraction - just the bait These women know a great guy when they see one! They just don't know he's married to a Barracuda :) (poor things!)

We are a couple, now in our early 70's, traveling in a 34" Holiday Vacationer Motor Home. Wes is a GE pensioner who just ended a 50 + year career, most recently consulting with the company. Joanne is a Public Relations specialist who runs her own "boutique" agency. Fall of 2015 began our 13th year keeping this travel blog. In the winter, we travel to and through Florida. We plan our route to include places of interest going to and fro and have included Williamsburg, Baltimore, Washington DC, St. Augustine, Savannah, Charlestown, Myrtle Beach, Florida's Pan Handle, New Orleans, Atlanta, Memph... full info
