Since the last post in patayya i have had my hotel room broken into and anything that worth much got robbed. so has a put a bit of a downer on the last couple of weeks here. after that incident we took a couple of days to cycle back up into bangkok where we have been staying ij the khao san road area. which is like backpacker central. The whole trip has gone really fast over here and it only feels like yesterday when we were sat in bangkok discussing what route we should take to get upto loas and when we would leave. And infact that was 3 months ago. overall by daily spend whilst away ... read more

hello all though i would do another update although not too much to talk about this time. Since my last post we have moved on from sieam reap and crossed the border back into Thailand. the route we took was straight along highway 6 to the border at poi pet. the ride to the border took a day and a half. The first leg was to Sisophon which was just over 100km and was straight into yet another terrible headwind. the ride was one road all the way which was very open and exposed which made it tough when the winds picked up at around 8am. that evening we managed to find a cgood guesthouse in the town which cost us $5 for a room. although later in the evening once we had been out and ... read more

Hi all not updated for a while as i havent really had the chance to do so or a good internet connection. At the moment i am currently at Siem Reap, Cambodia. this is the place for those who don't now are where the temples of angkor are. well about 8km up the road actually. Since Hoi Chi Minh City (HCMC) we set off for the border. the first day we got to GO Dau still just within Vietnam. This wasn't the best ride as it took over two hours just to get out of HCMC. with the total ride taking four hours. The second day we then cycled the 8km to the Vietnamese/Cambodian border at Moc Bai. after an hour or so we managed to get all the relevant stamps and our visa sorted and ... read more

Well its only been four days since the last update but quite a bit has happenend and i have an hour to burn so i thought i would do an update. Well on monday evening we left nha trang on a train that actually arrived on time which was a bit of a shock. when we then got on it, it seemed like a palace compared to the others with wood panel walls a good bed and a swish HD TV in our room although it did only play some crappy train DVD. we then settled it to bed and I eat the small feast of food i had gotten from the supermarket down the road. expecting the train to arrive late at HCMC i set my alarm for about ten minutes before the train was ... read more

well not updated the blog for a while so i thought it was about time i got it done. since last time we have left vinh and headed to hue. we did this on the ever so luxurios 1st class train overnight in a sleeper carriage. my luxurious i mean stuck in a room 6ft by 6ft by 6ft with 6 of us rammed in it stacked three high on each side in bunks. As usual the train was a good hour and a half late arriving at hue so meant we spent a total of about ten hours on it. Once at Hue we quickly managed to find a good cheap guesthouse and this one had a pool as well. The town itself is quite busy and has 5 universities and is very touristy. Well ... read more

well we have know left laos and entered vietnam. It has been a hard hilly ride to get here but after a few massive passes we made it. we left luang probang heading south down route 13 towards the capital. with the original intention to do a short day when we left we arrived at the guest house to find in wasnt too good. so we decided to press on for what the map said was 25 kms to the next town. although the problem was that the map wasnt right and the actual distance was 55km. this comprised of a 10km pass then followed by a 20km pass. at night fall we just managed to arrive at the guest house only to find it was as bad as the first and expensive. anyway after another ... read more

hi all. after a long 14 hour train journey on tuesday night we arrived at chang mai. we managed to get in an aprtment with air con and en suite for the night for 300baht (6 quid). we only stayed one night at there wasnt at much to see as thought. we also found that they were still celebrating sonkran and throwing buckets of water at us. often ice cold. so we left thursday morning and set off for for chang dao. this was my first proper ride and the temp was over 40 degrees. the ride started flat and then went through some hill at the end we covered 48 miles and i was burnt and bollocksed by the end of it. and with a broken rear hub. we managed to get 2 hut type ... read more

only writing to add a few pictures really in the past couple of days we have been on one of the boats which goes up the river. we found this to be a good way to see parts of the city we have not yet discoverd. on the trip we saw wat arun on the river a bank a large temple similar to a pryamid really built by the chinese in the 1700's. so today we cycled 5 miles arcoos bangkok to go and see the temple. this made a change from all the walking we have done all across the city. the only problem being is that it is songkram and people like to throw buckets of water at you. funny at first but it soon gets on you nerves after the constant changes of ... read more
