Correct
Visited Managua this year and have never seen a more hopeless place and I have been to many countries. Your last paragraph hits the nail on the head.

Great post
Great post! The pictures are wonderful, especially the butterfly one. I agree with what you said about the "muppet", some people are just like that. My respects to Nic's family. You can visit my travel blog if you want, it's in Spanish, though, http://2.0viajes.com/. Again, your blog is very interesting!

Good to see the enthusiasm, energy and sense of humor of ones who have traveled the world and asking for more! Kept smiling the whole way while reading your blog :-) Thank you!

Truly enjoyed reading your blog and your pictures are fantastic! Heading myself to Costa Rica in a month time and already planning my trip so that to spend minimum time in the very touristy place (well...love ddiving so still gonna have to stop by Playa del Coco..) and then heading to Corcovado park...Tried to add you as recommended blogger as I would like to follow your adventure (your latest blog is quite fun too!) but doesnt work....

Such an awesome place
Haha I entered Nicaragua the same. It was the only country in Central America that I had no sights I wanna see listed for. Turns out that I skipped through Costa Rica and Panama real quick, then have been in Nicaragua for the last month and a half. I leave tomorrow from Leon but I could easily come back here and trek a whole lot more. People not knowing much about it and not planning to visit it is part of the bonus - the well worn gringo trails dont exist as much. Their government, pollution, and attitude towards animals is a killer though =(

Nice to see someone taknig a look around Managua!
Good to see someone checkin out Managua! Im in Leon atm and have only spent 2 nights in Managua travelling through but got the same warnings and wondered if they were true... I havent really found many warnings to be true provided you dont act like a fool in places. I cant say Managua interested me, cities just never really do aye, but yeh... from talking to tonnes of others in Nica you probably are the first to check it out on foot in freakin ages! Nice one.

another blogs viewpoint: Walking through these rooms and buildings with a local guide who herself lost her brother and father during the regime and worked as a slave in the rice fields with her mother, was a really powerful experience and makes you admire how this country has risen from the terrors it has suffered and how its people are able to keep a smile on their face despite the tragic past that affected, and still affects, every single Cambodian.

Amen to that brother
For many years I harboured a dream that momos would usurp kebabs as the late night food of choice for the hungry masses. Imagine it - 8 pints of Guinness and you're a man on a mission- head down you can see only one thing through the evening rain - the warm glow that reads Momo King - a converted burger van serving individual trays of spicy perfection. It's the future. And is it Nic's birthday? Happy bithday if it is. Happy Tesday if it isn't.
