Hey mates, NEW PHOTOS Check out my new photos on this blog from Milford Sound and bungy jumping! I have safely arrived in Queenstown after a short jaunt of a flight from Welly via. Christchurch. Nz is such a headrush- for a country of such small stature, they sure do pack a ton of amazingly diverse and vast landscape. The thing that rocks about NZ is that you can drive for an hour and be in a completely different place, almost like a whole other country. It drives you wild. Upon arrival I was blown away by the superb mountain scenery. [View Full Entry]

August 14th 2005. We decided to do the ultimate extreme. Hang glide. After pondering over what activities to do while in the South Island, Charles and I decided to look for a hang glider instructor. One cannot leave New Zealand, the land of endless extreme adventures without doing something wild and crazy. We called Nelson Hang gliding and spoke with Kevin. We felt confident and comfortable with Kevin after several personable phone calls and were impressed with his professional, yet personal knowledgeable attitude. He was the perfect fit. We were serious about hang gliding- and seeing [View Full Entry]

We were both south island newbies, and decided to explore together. We set out on thursday morning, after a quick breakfast, and a rather hurried and frantic rush to catch the Interislander Ferry (I somehow 'forgot' where the ferry terminal was- We barely made it...sheesh). We settled in to the Ferry and enjoyed a scenic, and sometimes bumpy 3 hour cruise to Marlborough [View Full Entry]

Kia Ora everyone! I hope you all are doing well and enjoying summer and the warm weather and sunshine! Winter is setting in, here in Wellington. Today is actually not too cold and not that windy. But, lately it has been raining heaps and we have been having some chilly southerly wind gusts! Last weekend, I mentioned previously, that I went with the Vic Tramping club to the Tararua Forest Park, (http://www.doc.govt.nz/Explore/001~Other-Places/008~Wellington/Tararua-Forest-Park/index.asp) about 2.5 hrs from Wellington. It was an experience unlike any other that is for sure. I did not e [View Full Entry]

hi everyone! (here are some pictures from the Te Papa Museum trip!!) The Wellington International Film Fest is here! and I am enjoying it! The whole city is a buzz. The film fest parralells other fests like Sundance in CA and the Berlin fest and Cannes. It may not be as prestigious, but it definately does not fall short in what films it brings to NZ. The fest started last friday and it goes through until the end of july I believe. I got a ticket to the first film of the festival - last friday at 10 30 am. I [View Full Entry]

** This entry is in no way negative. I am simply venting to American friends and family as to why I feel like I am really in a foreign land. NZ is great, and I love being here. I am just wanted to point out the differences. and in fact, I am mostly doing it all in good humor, read on with a sense of sarcasm and you will probably get a kick out it. ** Even though I am in a country where English is spoken and on the outside it may seem not too far from US culture, I [View Full Entry]

Kia Ora everyone! I apologize for the long break in updates. Been waiting for pictures from friends. A lot has happened since we've last 'spoken'! I thought it best to just give a quick over view of the highlights. And include lots of my pictures with captions. I’ve been getting to know Wellington a little better- walking around everywhere still, trying to understand the city. Last weekend was INSANE here. The Rugby game was in town, and even Prince William showed his face! I felt like a true kiwi (wannabe really) shouting at the game on screen! The all blacks of [View Full Entry]
