Welcome to the first official entry of 2009!! I hope that everyone had a fantastic and eventful New Years Eve. First and foremost I want to send out a huge Thank You to everyone that thought of me this Christmas season. I got a lot of cards and packages, and it really made me smile. Also, thank you for the photos. I didn' have any of my family and it is nice to have a piece of home out here :) As for my New Year's I will get to the festivities soon enough, but it seems that if I go [View Full Entry]

Caught in the Whirlwind Asia » South Korea » Seoul » Gangnam
Hello Hello!!! I again find myself apologizing for the lapse in interesting reading material, but it seems that I have been caught in a whirlwind of activity since my last post. I was planning on having things calmed down enough to sit and write this a few days ago, but that never seems to happen out here. Case in point: I was planning on having a nice relaxing evening at home with some movies and popcorn last night, but somehow ended up 2 hours away in Uijueongbu until well after 3pm this afternoon! But I am getting ahead of myself now, [View Full Entry]

Have a Blog Day Asia » South Korea » Seoul » Gangnam
Well, welcome to another installment of 'Misadventures Korean Style' :) I hope you had a wonderful week and you are all staying warm...where ever you are. It has been unseasonably warm here. Last weekend it was well below freezing and I was reminded of what winter actually feels like. Coming into the week, it has thawed out and a jacket seems to be sufficient against the elements. I am waiting for the full blown winter to take effect, and we will see how happy I really am when the cold weather I have wished for is in full effect! I was [View Full Entry]

Hello again to all you beautiful people. I know that I have again let an inordinate amout of time lapse in between posts...sorry. I was, however, lucky enough to see many of you on Thanksgiving; and by 'see' I mean that I had a web-cam hookup so I could see my father's side of the family through the wonder of technology. Too bad they haven't come up with a taste-cam...I would have loved some turkey and pumpkin pie :) Can't wait to do the same with mom's side on Christmas!! Speaking of Christmas, it's a little weird over here as Christmas [View Full Entry]

On the bus...to Apgujeong Asia » South Korea » Seoul » Gangnam
Hello again to all my beautiful (and random) followers! This weeks's blog will be rather short as I really don't have too many interesting things to report. Then again, I always say that and my blog ends up being 27 paragraphs long...haha. I guess I should start with school, mainly because it's the first thing that pops into my mind :) I will be changing 'jobs' starting on Friday. I have just recently been put in charge of developing the new science curriculum for our new 'special' middle school science kids. It was decided that we will be doing intensive sessions [View Full Entry]

A quick rant Asia » South Korea » Seoul » Gangnam
Ok, yes I will be ranting, and no this will not really have anything interesting in it to read. But, I am seriously so tired of trying to hail a taxi as a foreigner in Korea. It is way below freezing here and this morning it took me 15 minutes to get a cab. So there I stood...and froze, as taxi after taxi drove past me. Now I am sure that you are taking the high road and assuming that they all had passengers. Sadly, this is not the case. They tend to just ignore us, they assume we can't communicate, [View Full Entry]

Hello my darlings :) I hope that most of you aren't buried in several feet of snow, but I have a feeling that a few of you probably are. The weather here has been doing some interesting things; mainly getting really, really cold and then for two days being delightfully warm. I had to have mom send me my extra sweaters last week so that I can at least have something warm to wear...it seems work isn't all too pleased with me wearing sweatshirts in to teach. Speaking of work, this week was definitely one for the books. We gave all [View Full Entry]

A Weekend at the Race Asia » South Korea » Seoul » Gangnam
I hope that you all had a wonderful week. (and what a week it was!!) The election was not only huge news over there, but over here as well...and all over the world I am sure. It went just as I assumed it would, and many many people over here were extremely glad. In fact I get stopped on the street at least once a day with the exclamatory 'Obama!'. I guess that seems to be the proper greeting if you don't know English...haha. I am excited to see where our country will go in the next four years, and for [View Full Entry]

Halloween Weekend Asia » South Korea » Seoul » Gangnam
Well hello again :) I promised that I would write and keep you all informed of the Korean Halloween festivities. (and anything else that has happened since my last entry) I guess I will start with the boring stuff...I know, amazing segue...you all can't wait to read more now! haha. Well, work is going well and I am almost 100% sure that I am staying until the end of October next year (I am about 68% sure that I am staying until December next year...but no worries mom, I'll be home for Christmas in 2009) I also was offered another tutoring [View Full Entry]
