I like the random everyday-life type facts you've posted about! Very interesting and helpful to read about before I go in the autumn. I am so proud of you! What a great adventure and how time has flown. I clearly remember our last hug in the halls of GHHS and I can not wait for that first hug on my front porch when you arrive in NC (hopefully to stay)! You are a truly amazing woman and I am blessed to call you my friend! Enjoy the time with your family...we are all anxiously awaiting your return! Smooches to you! xoxo

Hi you don't know me, but am trying to make the move to teach english in Korea and stumbled upon your blog here ( i had one a few yrs back, not sure if its live, name is irieivy ) anyway, i as well just moved home (WI) after 2 yrs in Ecuador and your summary of your experience abroad is spot on, to a T, perfect. I wish you the best of luck back home, safe travels

I just can't believe you are almost on your way back to the USA. We still are the best country in the world. Your life in Korea was amazing and I can't believe you've been gone so long! What a fantastic experience to soak yourself into another culture so deeply. It sounds like you really took it all in and should feel really great about yourself for that. Anyone here would be proud to hire you with all of your extra experience and open-mindedness. You may just be surprised! Do you think you'll continue teaching?

I'm in the same boat as you. Leaving Korea in 3 weeks and a really sad to give up the lifestyle here but at the same time, I know that I can't live this way forever.

Lift tickets here are somewhere between $50 and $100...depends on how long you want to ski (there are like 10 different combos you can pick from) The arm is a little better today...unfortunately there is no snow here, well not in Seoul anyhow!

Just wondering, what does a day lift ticket cost in Korea? Here in Washington State at Stevens Pass Ski Resort it's $58.00. Hope your arm is feeling better. It's snowing here....yeah!!!

Hey Shelly- sounds like Korea is agreeing with you. What a fun adventure that you'll remember for the rest of your life! Everybody should ido t. I am still enjoying your funny blogs. Sorry I haven't written lately. I've been bogged down with work and memorizing my classes! Stay safe! Have fun skiing. You should have a blast. If anything, you can hang out in the lodge, sip hot cocoa and pick up cute guys(obviously I've had plenty of experience with that in my younger days).

Irate lady
Was interesting to read your tale of the irate lady yelling and screaming. I had the same experence twice while in Seoul. Once was in Nam-Da-Moon (sp) market and the other was inside a store while trying to buy a bar of soap. In both instances I was compleatly caught off guard by the intensity of the verbal attack. I always wonderd if maby these ladys had lost a loved one in the Korean war and were somehow taking it out on me personally as I am an American male. I wonder if others have had this experence.
