Shelbi - Shelbi Mayo

Shelbi Mayo Alright people...

It's been a month into my trip and I am having a blast. I seriously miss a lot of people...you know who you are, but life is still great. So far I've spent most of my time in Guatemala and a little over a week in Belize. I think Guatemala is an amazing country and so full of culture and yeah....what can I say....So many nice people and great places to see. Belize was alright..but I didn't feel the Belizean culture so much. Its really hard to find a Belizean restaurant...it seems like every other shop or store or restaurant is a owned by the Chinese. I think most of my meals here on the main land have been chinese food...and fish on the island.

Alright....so the story I left you wanting to hear. We got to Tamarindo at dark, so we were happy to have help finding a place to stay. A guy on the street showed us this hostel, we checked it out and for $8 a night in expensive gringolandia the place looked alright. We put our stuff down, made friends with our roommates for the night and then headed off for dinner. We came back and hung out with the manager, Diego in the patio area upstairs. We are all having a great time and Diego is showing off his homemade surfboard [View Full Entry]

Alright...so the day we left Ometepe it was a lame national holiday that no one celebrates and all of the transportation on and to and from the island was at the whim of the workers. So what should have takend only a few hours took from 11 am until 6:30 pm. I didn't want to stay at the same place Brandi and I stayed, because I didn't want to mess with the memory. So, we walked down the street to another hostel. We stayed in San Juan del Sur for about 3 nights. The first night we got something to eat [View Full Entry]

Alright...its been a while and I can´t really remember as much about these beaches....so the hight lights... Playa Roca in Las Penitas Had one of the worst bus rides to get here. It was pouring down rain, so all the windows were shut and the bus was full of all these kids to the point where there was no possibilities of moving. It was so hot and humid in the bus I was choking on the air and past out. Getting off the bus was fun, since there was no room to walk around the hords of people. But we made [View Full Entry]

Alright....so Chinandega is supposed to be the second biggest town in Nicaragua. I´m not usually a big fan of big towns, but I liked this place. The Collectivo dropped us off at the main bus terminal and from there we had to take a taxi to the only recommended place to stay, we didn´t have a lot of options because we got there after dark. We settled in, and asked where we could get some food. The owner told us that the Parque Central was just a block and a half away. We headed out and we were surprised to see [View Full Entry]

So that unexpected night in Nacaome, Honduras was a plast. Beacuse it took us an extra day to try to get to Isle del Tigre, my friends Paddo and Gaz decided they didn't have time to spare and had to move on for a three week deadline to get to Panama City. So that morning we all got up really early...6 am...guess who wasn't happy about that. Got on a bus to Jicaro Galan in hopes of finding Gaz and Paddo a Tica bus to get them into Nicaragua. The celebrity status continued as we walked to the buses. A short [View Full Entry]

Paddo was supposed to go with his friend Mikey and move on, but he decided he didn´t want to and 4 of us went on to El Cuco so Matt could surf Playa Las Flores. We didn´t know much about where to stay or how to get there, so we took a bus into La Libertad and then decided to spend the extra money to take a taxi there. It was [View Full Entry]

Alright, so still trying to catch you up because internet access has been total caca hanging out in Surf spots! So this one goes from Oct 6th to the 12th. We were supposed to meet up with Matt and travel companion on the 5th, but their bus broke down and they only made it as far as Antigua. Only 1 our more, but traveling by dark is never a fun thing. They were super bummed when they found out that they could have done washing and had a free place to stay with my awesome friends in Guate, but oh well. [View Full Entry]

Alright peeps....sorry I´ve been none existant but internet access has been limited. So I left belize and went back into guatemala. Did my second border crossing..this one by foot. Took a bus to the Belizean Border...did the imigracion business, walked across a bridge and did the guatemalan imigracion business and then hoped on a shuttle to Las Flores. I ended up being the only person on the shuttle so I sat up front with the driver and practiced my spanish for a good 1.5 hours straight. He was a nice guy at first then he got a little creppy when he [View Full Entry]

Alright...I know it's been almost 2 weeks since my last blog but a lot has happened and at the same time not that much has happened. So...my last blog was about staying in at the hostel El Retiro in Lanquin and seeing bats and going in caves and climbing and descending waterfalls and seeing really beautiful natural limestone pools. While I was there I met this girl named Asha. She is from Australia and I had a lot of fun with her. She was headed to the Bay Islands in Honduras and I decided I was going to change my plans [View Full Entry]
