Ok, before I get into the entry for today let me make a couple of corrections from the last blog. First, my apologies for misspelling Eilean Donan, and then the Explorer Pass was actually like this: you get to go 3 days within 5 to any of the 78 places for the first price I mentioned, and then the 2nd option was 7 days within a 14 day span for the second price. The other previous blogs have been basically only about what we have seen and done from the perspective of being a tourist. Now let me tell you a bit about behind the scenes. While we were in Tanzania it was so nice to be able to have visitors from home. You always got the scoop of how things were going in the states, ... read more

We have spent nearly a week in Scotland and while things are fresh on my mind I wanted to write it down for anyone who might be traveling to the same areas. (Thus one of the purposes of a travel blog so others can get information on where they may be traveling. Part of the time our sightseeing has been with Adam, and the other we ventured on our own. We are always interested in what others find interesting and where the better places to go are so this is my opinions and thoughts on what we have seen. We jammed a lot in a little amount of time, but you could spend as little or as much time in each place as your time allows. FIRST - GET A TOMTOM! Any GPS really, but we ... read more

Today we had a free day and spent the entire day sightseeing in Edinburgh, the Castle, the Cathedrals, then out to Linlithgow Palace, and then Stirling Castle. It was a gorgeous day, the sunbathing was out in force. They are thinking heatwave as there were mini skirts, shirtless guys, and people laying on just about every piece of grass they could find. I am going to try to get some of the pictures posted for highlights. The research hasn't been done yet, so don't think to badly of me if I get some of the details wrong. Edinburgh is the most massively enforced Castle we've seen ... oh wait - I've only seen two .. one was in ruins and didn't even have a door and the other one was on a hill so far away ... read more

Ok sorry everyone for the quick exit last entry. I was only about 3/4ths of the way through what I wanted to say when the fire alarm went off. At 11:30pm I might add! So, we headed outside, for 15 - 30 mins and when we were allowed back in I had very few minutes left on my internet pass so I did what I could quickly to get the entry out with a few pictures. There are several things that are very different here from home. One of the first things you notice is that driving is on the left side of the road and there are no big cars at all. Anthony's truck would have nowhere to park! Of course with gas being over $7 a GALLON none of us could afford to drive ... read more

The Words that according to the Movie Braveheart William Wallace yelled before they decided to take on battle. Of course none of us were there, but the battle certainly took place, and William Wallace was very real. But I am getting ahead of myself. We got up last Saturday morning at 3:34 am! Now, those of you who know me .... that is AMAZAZAZING .... we went to Waffle House for breakfast, picked up Joshua, got to the airport, and soon boarded. ONLY to have to go to Philadelphia for our layover of nearly 9 hours. BUT while we were there we were able to catch the train and go into town. I saw for the first time the Liberty Bell. I have to admit hearing about it and actually seeing it in person is very ... read more

Heads Up - We are on the move! But alas only for a short trip. The travel bug just won't leave us alone. When we placed our membership at Walnut Street Church of Christ it was soon after that the Mission committee approached us to ask if we would do some traveling on their behalf. Of course we were honored, and thrilled to be a part of overseas mission work. It's in the blood, not much you can do about it. So, for now, please keep our travel in your prayers as we prepare to leave this coming Saturday morning for Cumbernauld, Scotland. We are hopeful to be in worship with the Christians there on Sunday morning and share a add a dish meal with them in the afternoon. MMMM? I wonder if they speak Swahili? ... read more

Anthony & Shasta Brown The beginning of 2009 saw us leaving Tanzania and returning home to Tennessee to begin our life here once again. January 19th we landed in Nashville after another tour in TZ of over 2 years. We are happy for our time there and continue to pray for the work, the brethren, and the missionaries still there. For the first couple of months we thought we might be going to India. But that road did not lead anywhere due to India's tightening of visa approval. Brother Jim Waldron had kindly asked us to go to the northeast section and visit a work there to see if we might want to relocate there. But it simply was not meant to be. From there we set about to build in Hickman County once again. ... read more

The knot is tied! And we believe tied tight. The plans have been in the works for months, and I can't even begin to imagine the time that Annie and her mom Kristi and the rest of the family have put it to this point. My hat is off to them!! I only have candid pictures and a few pictures that I made at the same time the photographer was making before the wedding. Once I get more I can post those, but I will be honest - we are so thrilled we just couldn't wait! So, my apologies to all the family that was at the wedding but are not seen here in these few pictures, I'll get them up when they are available! Anthony, Joshua, myself and my sister Tammy arrived in Paducah at ... read more

Hello to everyone! I am so sorry that I have not been a very good informer! We have been in touch with many of our friends in Africa, and they are all doing well. I have even gotten some pictures of some of them continuing the sewing classes. The work continues to spread the Gospel, and they are in our prayers regularly to continue God's work even though we are not there to help. Our plans to go to India did not pan out so in March we made the decision to start again here in Tennessee. We began by making the decision to build just down the road from where we sold in 2006. Starting over? It takes on a multitude of ideas. Starting over with a new home, starting over with new furniture, starting ... read more

There are many things that I have done in my life that I can say I have been thrilled to be a part of, but I can honestly say, that aside from my personal family, marriage and children, the nearly 5 years in total we have spent in Tanzania have been a personal best. To try to put emotions and words to what I have experienced, and been a part of, would be to slight those incredible souls that have touched me and my family. This past month has seen several things for us to add to our memories of our life in Africa. Over the years I have kept a journal, and even writing on a regular basis, does not do all we have experienced justice. This Christmas was our first Christmas without Joshua. Talk ... read more
