Although I woke up feeling fine, Di had a bad stomach this morning (thinks it was the ice in the cocktails so now we are just drinking beer) so only left the room at 11am. However we still managed to get our usual spot and spent the day swimming and sunning (and for di tolieting). Now we feel like we're on holiday! We have booked our accom until Sunday 24th as it's pointless moving until after the Full Moon party on Friday, so are gonna be proper tourists and also book a day trip to see the island instead of trying [View Full Entry]

It's a hard life when all you have to think about is what bikini to wear to the beach! We had breakfast in a little place we had found on the beach (very cheap) then headed to our now usual place and secured 2 sunloungers. The place is very mixed here, with young people, backpackers, couples, families and even older couples all on holiday. On the beach there are loads of vendors as well walking up and down trying to sell everything from Clothes, Jewellery, Food and hammocks! I keep saying to Diane that the whole country is like one Big [View Full Entry]

The Stars Of The Drag Show!
With our bucket
Hands up in the air!

Woke at 8am and as quickly as we could, packed up and moved to our new room. Fortunatley it was ready and waiting for us - so nice to see when we opened the door! We sorted out our stuff, I gave Di her present (she wasn't expecting it, bless her) then after handing a big bag of washing to our new owner (they do it over here for 40 baht per kilo) we headed straight for the beach - HEAVEN! Blue sky, the sea lapping up on the shore, soft sand between our toes - and we even managed to [View Full Entry]

The balconey
My lovely Mexican Margarita!

At last, we have arrived to a beach! Turns out we also have a free transfer into the resorts, so we head for Chaweng as we heard it's the livelyest and has the beach beach. As we have no accom booked, the guide on the bus says she knows somewhere with rooms for 500 baht (the cheapest over here apparently - ouch) so we get dropped off at some beach bungalows called 'Lucky Mother'. We are showed a bungalow (none of them are on the beach) and although it's a bit grotty and has a double bed, we take it due [View Full Entry]

Now I Feel At Home!

Woke up and decided that we would complete all our sightseeing of Bangkok today by visiting Chinatown and then try and make our way down to the islands overnight so we could settle in tomorrow before Diane's Birthday on Sunday. We read it better to book a bus and boat combi ticket that try and do it yourselves as we normally would, so we have a shop around. We are warned not to be tempted by really cheap tickets as on these buses they tend to gas you so they can rob your belongings! After booking our ticket to Ko Samui [View Full Entry]

The market streets

Waking up feeling a lot better than the day before, we checked out and headed for the bus station once again. Today we are heading to Ayutthaya, which was the old capital of Thailand until he got taken over and destroyed by the Burmese. It has, of course, been built up again but there are still alot of the old ruins there which you can go and see. As we are walking back to the station, we walk pass the school when the children are making there way to it - we're obviuosly gonna be the talking point of the day, [View Full Entry]

The temple
The Floating head
The 3 Chedi at Wat Phra Si Sanphet

Urggggggg - today is definatley the hangover from hell. Woke up with the room spinning and a strange gargaling noise emiting from my stomach. Meant to set the alarm for 8am but think I shut it off instead of snoozing and we both finally opened our eyes at 9am, although it took us another hour of us lying there groaning at each other in pain before we could muster the energy to stand up. Was tempting to put off going to Lopburi until tomorrow, but if we stayed we would probably only lie around feeling sorry for ourselves. Therefore we forced [View Full Entry]

They're just chilling on the street!
The old Wat
At the shrine

We checked out of our 'luxury' room and managed to find a guesthouse called 'New Samui' that had basic rooms for 380 baht a night, it had a fan (can't afford air con) and shared bathrooms but at least it had a shower with hot water and can't really complain for 2 pounds each. Are doing our sight seeing of Bangkok today so that we can relax when we come back from the islands. After jumping on the funky riverboat again, we headed to Wat Po, famous for its famous massive gold reclining budda that is 80 foot long! Then we [View Full Entry]

One of the small shrines
The large reclining Budda
How much gold? This is just the legs!

Checked out and said goodbye to Smile Guesthouse and got a tuk tuk to the bus station for 9.30am. Booked onto a bus leaving at 10.30am and found out on this one we have a free meal when they stop - nice one we like a freebie. Feel a bit bad leaving so soon as it is a really nice city, but we want to try and get all our sight seeing and cultural bits done in the first week or so, so that we can head down to the islands and chill out on the beaches so we're nice and [View Full Entry]

Woke up at 8am and decided to have a bit of shop around to see if we could find any better or cheaper accommodation (our's was a litlle bit grotty but clean) however turns out ours was a pretty good deal - plus the beds were the softest - so decided to stay at the great Smile House. We had breakfast in the restaurant (2 pounds for all you can eat - think I like it here) and then headed out to do some sight seeing of the great old city. The old city is surrounded by a moat and has [View Full Entry]
