Theory #1: Burger King is the new EVERYTHING. I had lunch with Kenji at Burger King before he had to work and we went and ate in the park. Their grilled chicken burger - YUM. this is the best fastfood in the city, I'm convinced because they use wholewheat burger buns! So it started to rain a little, and Kenji and I went walking around the area and here is... Theory #2: Most gorgeous men shop at David Jones. There was this man who was so DASHINGLY good looking that my head and body turned all the way around when he [View Full Entry]

OK so I was in a bit of a bad mood when I wrote the last entry. Couple things about Sydney because a lot of people I've spoken with in the past few days probably think I'm very disillusioned with the city. I think it's difficult returning to a country and attempting to make life happen again. I remember Australia for many good things: netball tournaments in the middle of nowhere at 8am on Sundays... eating Ruffle BBQ chips while watching telly on Sat mornings with my sis when we'd pull the blankets down from upstairs... hiding from our babysitter who [View Full Entry]

After the slump.. Oceania » Australia » New South Wales » Sydney
Hello again. I know I haven't been updating recently but truly, there isn't all that much that is new that has happened since the first few days of frenzied sight-seeing... plus I had my heart broken the other day so I've been in the recovery/angry/antisocial state ever since. I must say that despite all of this pain wallowing, I managed to buy a cute pair of shorts and a really awesome dress today. And I gotta add too, Kenji has been amazing. I don't see him for five years, and then in one week he bears the burden of my problems [View Full Entry]

Slept in and met up with my friend Danny and we walked all the way up to the Rocks and Sydney Opera House, then across the bridge, then all around, down to Hyde Park... he's soooo funny (and he'd better be reading this now!) Then hit the mall and got a couple beers and just sat around all afternoon chatting. THis guy makes me laugh so hard - it's good to have someone around who can talk about Canada and all and has nothing to do all day - like me! The employment thing for both of us isn't going as [View Full Entry]

Hanging out with Danny

Getting settled in... went to Adecco early this morning to sign up for some temp jobs. Yay! Hopefully some money will be rolling in soon to offset the exorbitant spending. Actually it hasn't been too awful - I haven't bought one piece of clothing since I got here, all of three days ago! A new record, surely... Then lunch in the Myer foodcourt where there was this restaurant with amazing salads! I love salad. Walked to the Aquarium afterwards and have included some pictures too. I love fish! Especially ugly fish, as my roommates know all too well. I saw fairy [View Full Entry]

Hong Kong to Sydney Oceania » Australia » New South Wales » Sydney
Arrived in Sydney yesterday morning, woke Kenji up after only one hour of sleep after his night shift, and we went to run errands. I'm staying just outside of the CBD, close to Chinatown and right across from the Broadway Shopping Centre. I really like it here... Have included some photos from both Hong Kong and from here so far. Kenji and I took three great shots yesterday that I will upload later since they're on his computer. Started off with lunch at Darling Harbour at this great seafood place which cost a bundle but was worth it. Had gelati at [View Full Entry]

My place in Sydney

I love Hong Kong. Every time I come back here, I realize how much I absolutely adore this city, with its bustling people, crazy lights, mouthwatering food, fashion forward, fast talking aspirational people... you gotta either catch up and go with the flow or leave if you can't take the pace. Hong Kong is one of the only places I know that in a huge crowd of people, you still feel uncrowded. I used to say to Christine before she came to visit last year that it's a life.. .there's no other way to describe this place. It's a lifestyle. And [View Full Entry]

My last day in Toronto until January and it's been a good week. Saw Kaskade at Fluid this weekend and it was amazing! What a perfect way to go out on the town on my only weekend here. This past week has been catching up with people and saying goodbyes for the next few months. Have been busy cooking almost every night... I believe that I have perfected biscotti. Yum. I saw Wallace and Gromit at Paramount today with Sanford and it's totally cute. Had lunch with my roommate Marianne this morning down near Eaton Centre. Being Canadian Thanksgiving, almost everything [View Full Entry]

Home. For now... North America » Canada » Ontario » Toronto
Just got back and am uploading pictures as we speak. I've only put a few select photos up in this entry because I ended up with about 400 in total. I am still trying to figure out a way to put them all up... these are the pictures with which I want to remember this trip to Italy. To me, they are the essence of the trip... the people I met, the best times or the most emotional times that I had. Feels so weird to be back... Sanford picked me up at the airport (thanks guy!) and we went for [View Full Entry]
