wow Hard to believe you are in paradise! I know there is lots to do in Jaco and the weather is perfect. Enoy the beach, shopping and Pools! Don't forget sunscreen, as from personal experience, a sunburn puts a damper on the vacation. Wish I were there. The pics are amazing! and we love the blog. Have fun and I want pics if you are doing the Segway. Wish I had more time to explore when I was there, maybe another time... enjoy and keep us posted on your many advendtures!
Viewed in past tense Just getting to read the blog tonight , although Courtney mentioned some time ago that you were writing one. Maybe it is more fun to read the finished product?? Found it very interesting and a great story. Enjoyed your writing and all the photos.
did you purchase quilting material at your last stop?

The Great Adventure Hi Cousins, Thanks for sharing your travels, I am so enjoying reading your blog.
Stay safe and have a great time, although I don't think you need any encouragement!
Love and Hugs, Lynn
Glad you arrived Safely Sounds like a wonderful start to your trip. Pictures are great and I hope the biking is just as great!! Take lots of beautiful pictures. I will cross my fingers that your weather is sunny and temperatures perfect for biking.
Brugge recommendations Ron - Thanks for your encouraging words - our time in Brugge was great - and although most posts say that 3 days in Brugge is too many, we found it a great place to be "home base" with more to discover all the time! YES - rent bikes in Brugge - it is great fun biking around and does not take long to get the feel of the city - the city is about 3k (north to south) so biking is most enjoyable vs walking.
We biked to Knokke-Heist (north of Brugge on that North Sea) and actually liked this area much better than Oostende (not as big, more relaxing and same feel of boardwalk etc). But taking the train to Oostende (only about 20 minutes) is a great 1/2 day trip. Both Gent and Oostende in one day would be a alot - I would discover Brugge and then go to Oostende in one day. If I had to pick only one (Gent, Antwerp, Brussels) I would pick Gent. Also, if you have bikes in Brugge, do bike out to Damme in an evening and have dinner or a beer - is only about 5k out of town, but a great ride along the canal and gives you a feel for rural Belgium - absolutely delightful! HAVE FUN and let me know if you have any other questions at all! Oh - our most favorite dinner place is north of the city (a great bike ride - on the way to Damme)) and is called Du Phare (www.duphare.be) we found it to be where the locals eat, there is outdoor dining along the canal - and was much better than what we found in town. All the food was great!
I could use some advice Your blog is very entertaining, and BAM is very cute. My wife and I will be staying 3 nights in Brugge and 2 nights in Paris in mid-July. When we are in Brugge, we intend to take some day trips. We are thinking of taking a late afternoon train to Ostende for a nice walk along the shore and then have a good seafood dinner. Is that a good plan?
For another day, if you could only choose one, would you choose Ghent, Antwerp or Brussels for train trip? Would it be too much to visit Ghent and Ostende in the same day? Do you advise renting bikes for Brugge?
Your Photos are great. It looks like you are having fun.
Thanks
Ron
BAM! YEY for pictures of BAM. And with that said, thanks for the pictures of your visitors! Looks like everyone is having fun! Be safe on your adventures.
My opinion only I would at least spend one full day in Brugge, I like it as a city the best of Brussels, Antwerp, Gent and Ostende. Ostende is a great half day trip to the sea (only about a 20 minute train ride), Antwerp is large (500k people I think) and the same 90 min train from Brugge as is Brussels. Personally I like Gent also - the town is about a 30 walk from the train station, but a great walk to the center with parks to walk along - it is considerably smaller than that Brussels and Antwerp. So depends if you like big cities or small towns. I thought The Mystic Lamb by the Van Eyck brothers at St Baafs was worth going to Gent for. Have a great time!
I'm envious!! Jean and Kathleen,
Your pictures are gorgeous! Sounds like you are having such a wonderful time. It looks like such fun. Keep writing about your adventures!! I'll keep you in my prayers.
Love,
Susan
I NEED SOME ADVICE My wife and I will be visiting Brugges and Paris mid July. We are arriving by plane in Brussells, staying in the North end of Brugges for three nights, taking a train to Paris for two nights, staying in a hotel at the Brussells airport one night and leaving early the next day for home.
Any advice on the train trips?
Also, If I take two day trips from Brugges, which should I do, Brussells, Gent, Antwerp, Ostende, or some other place?
Go Nancy! You are doing great with following our Blog - Jean thinks our pictures will get you to come over here! The Bangkok pictures were from when I met my "Other" sister - no biking that trip!
Kathleen
Looks wonderful It looks great and so much fun - I like the flatness of it!!!! The buildings look so interesting and the biking "lanes" look so inviting - wish we were there-
looking forward to seeing more -- I hope I have not made any errors in what I am doing - take care and great biking - waiting for more pictures and news
hi to you both --- nancy
Great pictures. Aunt Jean, when you get a chance, grab the camera and turn it around on the photographer, we need some proof that she was there too! Glad you two made it safe and sound.
