We have finally booked our tickets for our trip and we leave on August 28th 2007, We will be away for 5 months and have planned our route with mainly new places for Mhairi and seeing new friends I have made around the globe. Our plan is as follows: UK-NY-Oahu-Fiji-New Zealand-Melbourne-Asia. This will take in most of the places I visited last time but Melbourne will be new for me and also some of Asia I did not get to visit previously. I am looking forward to returning to NZ to see the South Island as that was one area [View Full Entry]

Its been a long time I guess not a lot has happened but realistically it has, I have been back in the UK since July 24th and I have made a move to Scotland, Why some of you may ask well it was a oppurtunity to do a few things really. 1: Live with my Dad who I had spent some time with but have never really lived with watch this space for the drama that will happen (I hope not). 2: Save money to go away again. 3: Whilst I was away I met a wonderful girl called Mhairi who [View Full Entry]

"Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once and a while, you could miss it." Its a very strange feeling to be honest you really do have to give so much up to realise what is important in life and what is not. I would never have imagined this time last year that I would be back in Portsmouth but thats the way of the world I guess. So what have I learnt from all this apart from having a job is a huge hurdle to actually living and seeing the world. The people I have met [View Full Entry]

Today is time to face the reality of it all and head back home for a little bit, I have had an amazing time in Oahu and this is one place that will definitely be on my list to return to one day hopefully the winter to see the huge waves of Waimea Bay. A big thank you to everyone at Camp: Barry (thanks for sticking your neck out for me) Chris (we always making shit happen when we get together and keep diving) Morgan (can’t wait to spend more time with you) Brian “Bacon” C and “Hot” Julie, Bridget (word [View Full Entry]

Today was a very sobering experience as I visited the USS Arizona memorial in Pearl Habour it struck me as a little surreal but something about the place seemed very detached from what happened there, I can't actually put my finger on it maybe it was because I was British but when I think of the Killing Fields in Cambodia and the vivid reality of that I feel like there is some emotional connection missing in this memorial site. I must admit it felt strange and of course the names on the memorial are astonishing to look at as so many [View Full Entry]

So what’s been happening in Hawaii since I last updated. Well it was my birthday on the 27th June….So many people remembered lots of sarcasm here! Hey but I am not bitter I had a great day diving that day. Went diving off Waikiki with two students and certified them which was cool did there whole course so was real nice and fun to teach here shame it’s only been a couple of students. The Waikiki waters were cold compared to Thailand but the vis and marine life were pretty good but not as I expected it to be in such [View Full Entry]

What a difference a day makes here in Hawaii, After bumming around for a few days I had my head on I was going to be going home early than expected and started to plan to go to a few more places in Oahu. So Sunday came and it was time to do Chris’s open water dives. So we dived off camp and everything went great Chris being the model student (honest no sarcasm here) and I was giving Morgan a skills review as she had been out of the water for about 9 years. So the dives went off without [View Full Entry]

I have been in Hawaii for a little under two weeks now and I have had a big wake up call I guess as to what life may be like back in the real world. I did come here with the intention of volunteering on the YMCA camp and living and eating for free. I guess I expected a little more flexibility with my time as I was “volunteering” but that did not seem to be the case I was told I was working 5 days a week and they were days when the needed me not a bit of negotiation [View Full Entry]
