Well we finally made it to our last stop of our trip: Switzerland. It's been an extremely long trip (about 30hours traveling) but we are finally here. Exiting the plane, getting our luggage, and then meeting up with my family was simple, and soon we were driving home in the snow! That's right first time in about a year and a half for me and three years for Scott since the last time we saw snow. Boy was it cold! Our first stop was to my cousin who was at work, then too my uncle (and godfather) at his store, before we finally made it to my grandmother's to relax. Our time relaxing ended up being all night since we didn't wake up again till the next morning. By that time my mom (who was also ... read more

Well now to our last official stop- Cambodia. It started off with a bus ride from Bangkok to the border at Poi Pet from there we met up with another guide that brought us across the border and then to the bus on the other side. Poi Pet is supposed to be one of the most dangerous borders but because we were traveling with a private company we didn't have to worry about it at all actually. On the other side we climbed into another bus and began our 6 hour drive to Siem Reap. This same trip would probably only take about 2-3 hours normally but in this section of Cambodia the roads aren't paved, so we bounced along the whole way. They also barely judged correctly the amount of people they were going to ... read more

Though we actually spent longer than a night in Bangkok on our last leg of the journey. After Kanchanaburi we settled back into Bangkok for a couple more days. We both had a little more shopping we wanted to do and a couple more sites to see around the city before we headed out. The first item on the list of things to do was to figure out a plan for the rest of the trip, which became much simpler once we sat down and looked at everything. It turns out we had budgeted out our trip almost perfectly over the summer while we were making our plans. What we failed to do was make as much money (or save enough at least...) as we had hoped and would need. We had enough money to finish ... read more

So we arrived back in Bangkok and as i'm writing my section Scott is writing about the sights and activities that took place while we were back there. I on the other hand am going to write about one of the side trips that we took while we were here. We decided once we got back that we had plenty of time to do some small trips around the area, that way we can actually say we did some other things besides just sitting around here. Although there is plenty to do just in the city center if we really wanted. Our first side trip was kanchanaburi a small town about 2 hours west of Bangkok. For 200Baht ($8) each we got on a bus that took us there, conviently the diver dropped us off at ... read more

Well after a laid back couple weeks living on the beach at Koh Tao we decided it was time to head back to Bangkok. Though neither of us would have minded sticking around and living the life of a beach bum a little longer, we both had things we wanted to do in and around the city. We got back into the city at 5am and were told we could check into our hostel but would be charged for the night that had just passed. We decided to wait until 6 when we wouldn't be charged so we hit the internet for an hour to kill some time. After a quick nap we both wanted to get some clothes made, so we decided to leave the Khao San Rd area and head to a little more ... read more

After a couple days of lying around and being completely unproductive we decided we would do some diving. We'd been considering our options over the past few days and decided we'd go with the slightly more expensive but more productive route of getting our advanced certification rather than just go on a couple of fun dives. We signed up for a class (and by that i mean we told them when we wanted to come by since we were the only ones doing it) at a resort down the beach from ours called Sunshine Divers. Included in the price (US$230) was three nights at their resort so we packed up our stuff and headed down the beach. After we checked in we decided that since Trish was still pretty red from kayaking/snorkeling Shark Island the day ... read more

Well we've finally come to a place to relax and do absolutely nothing! We are on an island off the East Coast of Thailand called Koh Tao. It's main attraction is diving which we will be getting to in a few days. Right now we are taking a break from it all. Our days have been filled with naps, tanning, swimming, eating, reading, playing cards and watching movies. One of the hostels plays a movie every night so that's where we've been going. We definitely needed something like this after the the intensity we had in India, and the busyness of Bangkok. Hopefully in a few days we will be doing some scuba diving too, the reason we picked this island. Our biggest decision is do we go for an advanced certification or just do some ... read more

Well we've now started our third country of the trip, Thailand. Since we decided to fly out of Mumbai a little early we now have a few more days to play with over the course of the next month. Originally we had planned on staying in the center and north of the country, some light trekking in the mountains up north, Bangkok for a week, and a little beach time out east. Now that we're here though with a little more time we've shifted our thoughts a little and are going to make this a little more relaxing trip. Unfortunately (or maybe luckily) since we're here without visas we're limited to 30 days in the country so we're still slightly pressed for time, though I'm sure we'll manage. After a long night/morning of airports, flights and ... read more

October 5th 2007

Well we've finally made it to our last stop in India. We were contemplating doing some other stuff, but we're both really exhausted from this type of traveling and have decided to just stay put and leave a few days earlier. While we were here we really didn't do too much. We tried going to one of the markets to buy a few things before leaving but that turned out to be a lot more difficult than we thought. So really we just wandered around the different areas in Mumbai, had a few western meals and relaxed. We also sent home a small package of things we didn't need which took about 2 hours by the time we done. Hopefully it arrives to the states! The only two touristy things we did while we were there ... read more

We decided to take a slight detour from the standard travelers tour of India and head down to southwest Gujarat for a few days. We technically I really wanted to do it and Trish put up with me and all the hassles getting here entailed... Due to the obvious train difficulties we experienced we ended up spending the day at the Amedabad train station and it's vicinity and missed what would have been a chill/relax day in Junagadh. Getting here at 4:30am after a noisy train ride, our first priority was a little more sleep, followed by showers. After that we wasted no time headed over to one of the towns two attractions (for me at least...), the Junagadh Zoo. As many of you may know, I'm a science dork and love zoos. I love any ... read more
