The incredible Petronas Twin Towers at night with the moon in the background
A very early morning start today because we wanted to get tickets to the sky bridge of the Petronas towers. We hadn’t slept very well because of all the noise coming from the markets on the street, they don’t go all night but it takes a while for them to pack up their stalls. We got ready and caught the train to the Petronas Towers. We found the queue and lined up for tickets, there were already quite a few people there but we weren’t missing out. Eventually we got our free tickets to go up at 10AM. We left to [View Full Entry]

The stunning Petronas Twin Towers, view from the Menara Tower in Kuala Lumpur
We woke up to the sound of pouring rain, it was a terrible day today. We still had our hop-on hop-off sightseeing bus tickets so we planned to do the other route which we hadn’t been on as yet. We packed up our stuff and checked out of the hotel, we left most of our luggage there for the day and headed out. We got on the sightseeing bus and drove around the other route, down Orchid Road. It was so dark and the rain was pouring down we couldn’t really do too much today. We got off at Raffle’s Hotel [View Full Entry]

Hannah and I woke up early and got ready for another day in Singapore. We headed straight for the bus stop outside our hotel to get the hop-on, hop-off sightseeing bus around Singapore but we weren’t sure if it stopped here or not, but after waiting ages it finally came. We stayed on the bus all morning taking photos and getting a complete tour of Singapore but we really wanted to check out the famous Singapore zoo so we got off and headed for the train. We took the train to the bus terminal then after a long wait took the [View Full Entry]

The beautiful city skyline of Singapore
We slept in a little because we were so tired but we left the hotel around 11AM for a day to explore Singapore. We headed down to the river and bought some breakfast of the way. It wasn’t long before we reached Raffle’s Hotel, we had a bit of a look around but most of it seemed closed so we continued down towards the Singapore River. We took some photos of the impressive Singapore skyline then decided to check out Sentosa Island which was a theme park style place with various attractions. We found the nearest subway station and headed to [View Full Entry]

My short stopover in Darwin, on my way to Singapore
Woke up this morning after getting hardly any sleep, I was way too excited about what was ahead. I had spent all day yesterday packing and running around buying last minute things. We (Hannah & I) got out of bed and continued to pack the stuff that was left around from yesterday then had breakfast. I said goodbye to my room and house then we were off to the airport. My flight left at 12:35pm and stopped in Darwin before then going to Singapore. Where as Hannah’s flight left Melbourne at 15:30 and was a direct flight to Singapore. We arrived [View Full Entry]

Los Angeles

Around Venice Beach
The first few days after trek were quite unusual. We had all gotten so used to getting up early and packing our bags that to finally have our own time was surreal. It was strange not having to get in the van and being told where we were going today, instead we woke up and had nothing to do. Hannah left on the first day to go meet a friend and travel to San Francisco so I was pretty down. Dave, Sara and I headed out to explore the city of Los Angeles since we didn’t get a chance before we [View Full Entry]

This is it. The last day of our massive 64 day trek around the United States of America, we couldn’t believe it was finally here. We all got up pretty early to sort some of our stuff out. We packed up our tents for the last time and packed the trailer once more before we were on our way. Jon gave us questionnaires to fill out on how we thought the trek went and how Jon’s performance as a trek leader was. We drove to Los Angeles, back to La Hacienda where the trek began 64 days ago. We had traveled [View Full Entry]

Our San Diego beach party
We woke up early today and got ready for a day in San Diego. First we headed down to the famous San Diego Seaworld but after hanging around not really sure what to do we ended up deciding against it. Most of the shows we wanted to see weren’t till much later on and a few of the attractions were closed, that and the fact it was incredibly expensive entrance price. Instead we drove into San Diego and found a spot big enough to park the van. We headed down the road to find somewhere for breakfast, some of the girls [View Full Entry]

Driving down the interstate during the Californian fires
We were up super early this morning to pack up our mess and head down to meet the rest of the group at their hotel. We were in the van and on our way to San Diego by 8AM, we had a long drive today. We also needed to take a bit of a detour due to all the fires in California. As we entered California and got closer to the fires the sky actually turned red and the stench of smoke was intense, we were extremely close. We suddenly saw a large helicopter fly overhead and drop a ton of [View Full Entry]

The incredible Venetian Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas
Dave woke us up knocking on the door around 6AM in the morning, I helped him out with what he was looking for then went straight back to sleep. Again, this time around 10:15AM, Dave came knocking on the door and woke us up. But this time we had to get up and meet the rest of the group down at Alexis Park. We quickly walked down to their hotel because we were in a bit of a rush. They had to check out of Alexis Park because Jon only booked that hotel for two nights. For the last night in [View Full Entry]
