Cheetah Park Africa » Namibia » Cheetah Park
We visited this place called Cheetah Park, located in the middle of Namibia. This place is a family farm that has cheetahs and other animals. The house pets are 2 adult cheetah, one baby cheetah, 4 dogs and a giraffe. We were only there for one night but it was an evening not to forget. We went to the main house to pet and play with the cheetahs. I was scratched by one that was more playful. I really hope that it scars because then I can say that I have a scar from a cheetah! The baby was really cute, [View Full Entry]

Day to Day Life Africa
L i f e o n t h e T r u c k I know that I have told a lot about what I do here, but not really what life is like. This trip is a job. Granted, I never know what day it is, most of the time, I dont know the time and date is insignificant. However, we are always very busy. A lot of times feels like doing nothing. Because this is an overland trip, most days we have to take down our tent just to set them up again at the next point. This [View Full Entry]

Day on the Delta Africa » Botswana » North-West » Maun
We left Zimbabawe on July 2th. I was verys sad the whole day. Zimbabwe might be my favorite country in the world, besides home of course! Going to Botswana, they have a very interesting procedure. You have to actually get out of the vehicle and walk across this dirty towel that is supposed to clean your shoes. I don't get it but you have to do it throughout the country. It is supposed to stop some kind of disease. The first twon we were in was called Kasane. The grocery stores were all fully stocked and business was as usual. You [View Full Entry]

Floating the Delta
Daytime Moon
Termites???

We arrived at Victoria Falls around lunch time on the 26th. The campsite that we stayed at was called The Rest Camp. It was where all the old people stay. There was another campsite down the road called Shoestrings, that was a load of fun. But Oasis is not allowed to stay there because it can get to rowdy. This was the last day of the trip for some of the passengers, so we had to do a truck clean. After the truck clean, we watched an information video on all the ways you can scare the shit our of yourself [View Full Entry]

Heaven in Africa! Africa » Zimbabwe » Gweru
From Harare we went to Gweru , again another small town that was clean and no one bothered you. They had this great pizza place called Pizza Inn, which is located all over Zimbabwe, yum! It is one of my favorite pizza places now! I had to shop for cook shop again, it was my groups turn to cook. This was a challenging experience because Zimbabwe is still trying to recover for it down turn for the last 30 years and stores do not have the freshest products. We made due, it wasn't my turn to decide what cook anyway, I [View Full Entry]

Harare is the capital of Zimbabwe. The Oasis comapy has a house close to the there for all of the crew when thy are not on duty. The first place that we stopped was a garage to get some truck parts. We used teh bathroom at this place and to my suprise, it was one of the nicest bathrooms that I ahve seen thus far. Who would have believed a bunch of mechanics could keep a nice toilet. We then went shopping at this miniature warehouse, the items sold were all in bulk, it was like a mini Costco. We bought [View Full Entry]

A day in Mozambique Africa » Mozambique » Western » Tete
On July 16th, we wntered Mozambique. This was by far teh hardest boarder crossing that we have had yet. It took 3.5 hours just to get into the country. If felt like a morning well wasted, especially since we all knew that we were only going to drive through the country. The terrain of Mozambiqu is beautiful. there are loads of rolling grassy areas with large rocky hill sides. The boulders that make up the rocky formations reminded me of the Kevin Bacon film Tremors. There are loads of Boaboa Trees, which if I am ever able to post pictures you [View Full Entry]

Malawi  Africa » Malawi » Lake Malawi » Kandi Beach
On July 9th, we crossed the boarder into Malawi. This was very easy boarder crossing. The first city that we went to was Chitimba. The campsite was right on Lake Malawi, which is also known as the calendar lake, because it is 365 miles long and 52 miles across. I went for a 32km walk (about 20 miles round trip) up this mountain/hill to get to a town called Livingstone. I have to admit, I barely made it to the top! I need to introduce more cardio into my life: sad. Livingstone is just a small town that was developed in [View Full Entry]

July 1st we arrived at a campsite just outside Dar es Salaam, called Mikadi Beach. After a very long day in the truck I walked straight into the Indian Ocean still wearing my clothes. The campsite was one of my favorites, sandy beach, palm trees, and great views of the sunrise. It was a little piece of heaven. July 2nd we took the express ferry to Zanzibar. I sat inside the ferry, got really seasick and then spent the rest of the ferry ride throwing up over the side of the back of the boat. The only bonus of this throwing [View Full Entry]

June 27th passed into Tanzania. On the drive to the border crossing we encountered a road block of Massai warriors. They had drug acacia bushes into the middle of the road and were standing there with machetes. We didn’t actually get to see any of this but that is what our driver and tour leader said happened. The first town that we went to in Tanzania is called Arusha. The campsite that we stayed at was called Snake Park and this is located about 20km from Arusha. The campsite was not that great. The cool part was they had a load [View Full Entry]
