YEAH Yeah.. the speedy ascent was my fault... I tend ot get a little bit competitive and I was getting a bit too excited when we overtook people (and a bit too worried when people overtook us....!) Well I can tell you all now I'm suffering for my weakness.... my knees and legs no longer do their bidding and completely flat out refuse to carry me up and down stairs.
Hi Ben
Well your definitely giving me the travel bug!
The eel like grey fish on the turtle are remora. They are cleaners and stick with turtles and sharks, oh and divers sometimes. We had one with our group on the whole of a dive once that was trying to clean our silver cylinders, bless.
We had no problems in Thailand this year, but admittedly we have never travelled further south than Phuket. There is crime around; opportunists who will take wallets etc just like anywhere. There’s lots of stuff you read your supposed not to do like don’t show the soles of your feet (unclean), that I see all the time. Don’t pat anyone, head is the clean, sacred, part of the body) on the head, so try to resist ruffling cute little children’s hair. Take shoes off before you go inside anywhere where there are shoes outside, otherwise look like your going to do it and the proprietor. Like the Japanese, they don’t like confrontation, so arguments don’t really happen, everyone makes their apologies and sorts it out politely. Thai’s like people talking their language and you can pick up a few useful phrases, like mai ben rai (no problem) which will go down well if needed.
Must get on with work now
Andrea.
diving Hi Ben
Well done for sticking with it. If your having problems with controlling your depth try a Peak performance Boyancy course, I was the same and after I did this course think it was once in a deep pool and once in the ocean. Its all about lung control and air in your BCD. Dont put too much or take too much air out of bcd at one time. Youll get used to using your lungs better as you progress, you dont always need to take a full lung of air in or let out a full lung.
Andrea.
wont need your boots? Hi Sarah
great to hear from you. Keep them coming, gives me a short interval before the next problem.
We currently have our worst ever learner enrolled but I am trying my best to find a reason to take him off.
Now as for the boots, you left yours behind, is there anyone I can post them to or shall they just sit here in the office until your return in around a years time?
Well done for getting your first PADI qual. Did you know I reached instructor status and taught for a while? I'm sure you'll see tutorles soon and if not go to the Red Sea or theres a drift dive off the coast of Mexcio that you are guaranteed to see them, I saw 18 on one dive there!
Take care
Andrea.

medical advice glad to hear you're looking after him Sarah! Lots of fluids and salt and vinegar crisps (can you get those in Bali?) Regular paracetamol. Only take the bunging up tabs if it's really necessary (i.e. travel) cuz you'll just prolong the agony.
PS - I'm at work, can you tell?
I assumed you were having such a good time you'd forgotten all about us suckers back in the UK! Bali sounds lovely - you should nic a monkey and let it travel round on your shoulder!! Oh, can you add Ali to your mailing list too please... he's feeling left out. Will e-mail soon xx
