| 25th September 2008 Mama | Hnag in there - From: two in one day... arent you lucky OK, so you're having a bit of culture shock. Hang in there, take a deep breath (or two) and come up with Plan B. Hanging in France with people you know will help you get your feet wet and get a feel for things. You are a gutsy girl to even contemplate doing this by yourself!! I am very proud of you. Did you blow up the curling iron with the cheap converter? Can you buy one there? You probably speak enough French to get into a bank in France. Just look at each and every first as an adventure and try to enjoy the view, even if you're feeling anxious. You are constantly in my thoughts and prayers. Thanks for keeping in touch. I'm trying not to stress so much that I run out and buy a plane ticket for Europe....not that I wouldn't like to visit Europe again, but I know you will will do great without my interference. I love you darling. Try to have fun and take lots of pictures. Mama |
| 24th September 2008 jenna wong | European outlets - From: two in one day... arent you lucky i feel like the coverter thing was the oe thing i should have told you the converter only converts the plug not the wattage and blow dryers and straightners all have too much wattage, it works for the computer because the computer has that transponderbox that converts the wattage on its own. Bummer but funny.. miss you |
| 24th September 2008 Laura Duhachek | Shit happens - From: two in one day... arent you lucky Hey Sarah, Look at the positive YOUR IN Italy how cool! You can't plug a a hair dryer or straightener into the wall with just the adapter plug your also need a bulky converter box, b/c the current voltage is too high in europe for north american appliances. your computer should be fine to plug straight in with just the adaptor. my mom said that you should be able to buy a new adaptor at a walmart like store Look for the store called "Carrefour" they sell everything from food to clothes to hardware. good luck laura |
