After getting back from Vienna I was pretty sick, so I took a couple days to recover, and just relaxed at home. I had a paper for my EU Economics class with Usman, so once we got home we pretty much had to sit down and work on it for three days straight. It was a ton of work, but we actually ended up writing a really good paper on why Ireland was such a success after its entrance to the EU. We had to do a thirty minute presentation on it on Tuesday, and our professor seemed to like it, [View Full Entry]

The week after Valencia wasn’t too exciting. We sorta laid low for a couple days, and I was worried about finishing a paper that was due the next week. But I did have a chance to get to know my classmates at UAB better. On Wednesday night, Noelia (a friend in my Spanish class) and I decided we were going to go to the Champayneria, which is always super fun with delicious cheap food. But after class I decided to go home and work on my paper, so I told her I would meet up with her later that night. Once [View Full Entry]

Hey everybody! So I am super behind in my travel blogs, so I am going to skip the rest of my spring break blogs for now (dont worry I will come back and do them when I have time!), and go on to my trips that I have had since then. That way, I can try to stay up to date and then when I have time I will fill in a blog or two about my spring break. So after getting back from spring break, I was exhausted, so I had a nice week at home. Lauren’s friends from home [View Full Entry]

Our second stop on our grand tour of Italy was Florence, or as the Italians call it, Firenze. It proved to be an amazing city! After our four hour train ride to Florence, and our 20 minute walk to our hostel, we finally checked in, dropped our bags off, and went off to explore Florence. We had lunch at a place called Yellow, where we got an amazing pizza and pesto gnocchi. We then went to the Uffizi gallery, which is one of the most famous galleries in Florence, so we had to wait almost an hour to even get in. [View Full Entry]

So for my spring break, I decided to take an extra week off of school to go to Italy with Natalie because her spring break was one week earlier than mine. So the plan was to do Italy for a week with her and some of her friends from her study abroad program, and then go to London, where she is studying abroad, and hang out there for a week and sightsee with our friend Charlie who was coming out from USC. So on Friday March 7th, I took a plane to Rome to meet up with Natalie, Sara, Bruna, [View Full Entry]

So on Thursday, after two or so hours of sleep, I got up to catch the very first metro to get to the very first airbus to the airport for my early morning flight to Amsterdam. I almost missed the airport because I fell asleep on the bus, but in the end, all was well and I made my flight even though timing-wise I was cutting it close. 1 delay and 3 hours later, I arrive in Amsterdam. I had to wait in the airport for a couple hours for Natalie’s flight to get in, so I wandered around, got something [View Full Entry]

After my big weekend with Natalie, I took it pretty easy and gotten lots of rest. On Monday, I went to the store to stock up on food because I was completely out, and tired of eating out. I bought a ton of vegetables and fresh food, so I was super excited to make a greek salad, and some soup. I then walked over to Hannahs to hang out for a while. After talking for a couple hours, I had to go home to do my homework that was due the next day with Alex. Unfortunately it turned out to be [View Full Entry]

So after San Sebastian, we were quite tired, so last Monday, (Feb 11th) was pretty uneventful. On Tuesday, Lauren and I decided that we need Mexican food badly. That’s the one thing that I miss very much in this country- good Mexican food. We had asked our program director where some good Mexican food was, so we got a large group together- the girls downstairs, me, Lauren, Nicole, Brier, and Abdul, and all went to this place on Industrial and Gaudi. It took us a while to find it, but once we did we thought it was a really cute place! [View Full Entry]

So after Sitges on Tuesday, I got even more sick because I was out all night. So Wednesday, I basically slept all day and had a nice day of rest. Thursday, I went to my early morning econ class, not feeling too good, so I skipped the second one to come back and take a nap. Though before I took a nap, Lauren and I went to our café to have a chocolate croissant. That day in Spanish, almost all the class was gone because the program that most of the other students are in, API, took a weekend trip to [View Full Entry]

Carnival in Sitges

 Europe » Spain » Catalonia » Sitges
So last Tuesday, February 5th was the last night of a huge festival in Spain called Carnival. Barcelona doesn’t really celebrate it, so all of our teachers said that we should go to Sitges, a small town 30 minutes outside Barcelona to experience it. Carnival is a huge celebration lasting from the previous Thursday to the middle of the day the next Wednesday. It is similar to Mardi Gras, but without beads. I had class till 5:30, so once I got out of class, I went directly home to change and get ready to head out there. I had a cold, [View Full Entry]
