Ok, this will be quick because I am hungry! We are finally in Arambol, a small town in Northern Goa. To put it simply, we love it here. It is exactly what I imagined, and more. Calm, peaceful, hot and relaxing. Plenty of restaurant options, a clean simple room with a balcony looking out over the coconut grove. Tha water is warm, amazingly so, and the beaches have planty of space, with occasional entertainment in the form of nudists or vendors seeling their wares. I have put some pictures up in a couple of galleries, so go have a look see. [View Full Entry]

Hi Everyone! Time for a bit of catch-up again. Sarah and I made it back to London by bus and said our sad goodbyes to David, Sam and Laurie. With our heavy packs strapped to our backs, we ever so slowly made our way to Heathrow. Forget the glamour of travel at times like these. Sarah and I were simply trying not to turtle. Traversing London during rush hour is tough. We arrived at the airport behind schedule and were welcomed with an hour-long check-in line. By some stroke of good fortune, Sarah and I were in chirpy moods once we [View Full Entry]

So we finally arrived in Mumbai after a late flight. The good news was that we got upgraded, thanks to just looking like nice people, so we had loads of room and comfy seats the whole way. 8 hours later and we are in Mumbai and everything we have read is right there in front of us. Was crazy taxi ride to the hotel. Long, hot , dusty and constant horns and people trying to sell things. It was a very insane introduction to India. It is lovely and warm here (not to rub it in) and we arrived at the [View Full Entry]

According to the locals, THE thing to do in Cardiff is see Cardiff Castle. The last time I was here, the sole and soul goal was to make it to the Howell's sales. (Howell's being Cardiff's equivalent of London's Harrods.) Upon this return visit, I grew embarrassed at my unabashed consumerism and lack of want for Welsh culture. Cardiff Castle now topped my list of necessary sites of seeing. The locals I speak of are friends of Sarah's, one of who lived in Victoria, BC for a year. They have graciously opened their lush three-bedroom apartment to us for the two [View Full Entry]

Today is Wednesday and in a few hours Sarah and I will be on our way to Cardiff to stay with an old friend of hers. We're there until Friday. I've skipped a Monday and Tuesday in my blog entries so here is a brief synopsis of events: Monday was my birthday, yay! I wandered the Tate Modern, saw a movie, drank good red wine with Sarah, David and his roommates and even received presents from the boys! I also had a couple of good long conversations with Mum and Dad and then with Billy, my boyfriend. It was great to [View Full Entry]

Carlie looking very fashionable in her London best

Hi all! I had some trouble posting my blogs so there is a build-up of entires. Well here we are after 5 days in London. The time has sped away and I find myself with the foreboding task of remembering all that we have done. At least I have plenty of content at my disposal, unlike my last entry. Right, so I managed to keep myself awake until 915 on Thursday evening. My sleep was deep and dreamless. I awoke to a streak of blonde curls as something bounced onto the futon that Sarah and I were sharing. My initial thought [View Full Entry]

Sunday comes and we’ve lost another one. Sarah has the stomach bug that had been torturing David the previous days. She is laid out, no chance of moving. Let me share with you the history of this virus. When we arrived on Thursday, David’s roommate Sam was just recovering from something nasty. David got it Friday, Laurie spent a couple of days in bed feeling very ill and now Sarah has succumbed. I’m the next obvious target on the hit list but I’m dodging, dipping, ducking, diving, and….dodging, the very best that I can. Under such perilous circumstance [View Full Entry]

Well, it's been a bit of a rough warm up to India for me the last few days. A nasty tummy bug going around the house here finally got me, and I spent the last day very close to the bathroom and not feeling the perkiest. So far Carlie hasn't gotten it yet and I hope she doesn't. Luckily we did have time to see the Tate modern on Saturday, before the tummy started to rumble. It was lovely and we both agreed that we like to travel with someone with whom we can split apart from and wander art galleries/museums [View Full Entry]

White Hall
Dun dun dun duuuuuu......Themes House!
Is that a spy?!

Although Sarah and I have been planning this trip for months, the commencement of our journey still managed to come as something of a surprise to us. The days leading up to Wednesday were packed full of last minute travel tasks and left us very little time to get truly excited. It wasn't until Sarah and I were sat in a YVR restaurant, after having said tearful goodbyes to our friends and families, that it donned on us. We are going to India! Of course, we had a scheduled stop in London for ten days first. At 7:30pm Wednesday evening, we [View Full Entry]

So, today is the day. After gaining a whole day extra because I thought our flight left this morning, I am, for the first time, packed and ready for the trip a full 3 hours early! So exciting. Our flight leaves tonight at 8:30pm and then it is "London, here we come!" So to all you people in London and Cardiff, get ready for us. To all the people we have said goodbye to over the last few days, we'll miss you and see you in May. Sarah [View Full Entry]
