How Much Money to Bring To Chile

So I totally understand about how I can use money in chile, by activiating cards (Visa/mastercard) to be used in that region of the world and such, but i am just debating on how much money to bring to chile. Not physically of couse but just a standard budget. I will be in valpo for 5 weeks at th university doing a spanish language program, but after that i will have 4 weeks to travel around.
