On one of the fine days that we have had this winter we took Fletcher for a very big walk around McLeans Park and down onto Eastern Beach. Well it was Doggy Heaven we have never seen so many doggies out for a walk as we did that Sunday. Fletcher thought all her Christmas's had come at once, she didn't know who to go and play with first!! Talking about Xmas, as you can see I have a logistical problem how to get all my purchases into one suitcase ready for travel. What a bonanza there will be at Xmas time!!!! [View Full Entry]

Winter Oceania » New Zealand » North Island » Coromandel » Thames
Graham went down to Thames last week to view a rotten Wharf at Coromandel. He didn't make Coromandel as there was a nasty accident and the road was closed for the entire afternoon so he had to turn around and come back to Auckland. Hence he is off to Coromandel again next week. He waited at the site of the accident for a while in the hope that he could get through but with all the Police, Ambulances, Helicopter, Fire Engines it was a no go. There were no fatalities thankgoodness. Winter is here as you can see by the frosts. [View Full Entry]

Just a quick note to say that the trip is almost finalised and Karen and Michelle have done a great job. We just have a few loose ends to tie up in the next few weeks. Jordan ,Syria and Hatta are all booked. So we thought a photo was a good idea. [View Full Entry]

Poor Graham made a trip into Remuera this morning to visit his skin specialist, and as you can see he didn't come home looking quite the same as he left home. The nurse did say to Graham you won't be going very far today. That is surely an understatement as the photos show. Never mind, in two weeks he should be as good as new. [View Full Entry]

Graham can still find a smile

Another short blog. We had a lovely dinner the other night down at La Mamas Eastern Beach. We were joined by all my friends from my teaching days. I taught all their children and some of the children a couple of times. We were celebrating our 10 year anniversary. We have met for lunch once a month down at the Colonial Village Lloyd Ellesmore Park Pakuranga for 10 years. This time because it was a dinner we invited our husbands along and it was a great success. Graham has been very busy with his Engineering work, so on this blog we [View Full Entry]

We have been having amazing weather for June and Winter, so the walking shoes have been put on. We are in training for a holiday that we are going on later in the year. We have to walk up 800 steps, so the 130 steps at Eastern Beach are a good training ground. I have to say that at the moment the thought of walking up the 130 steps six times is just a tad daunting, in fact impossible. Long may our lovely weather last so the training can continue. The following photos show where our walking trail takes us. We [View Full Entry]

This is just a short blog this week. It is Queens Birthday Weekend and the weather today has been just lovely. We went for a long walk up the hill through the Reserve down to the Beach and back home. Fletch had a lovely time socialising with all the other dogs and people. She just goes up to strangers and waits to be patted, everyone just loves her. We took the Green Peril out for a long drive, I was a bit scared I must say it is very close to the ground and very hard to get in and out [View Full Entry]

What a wonderful day the 23.5.08 was. I wasn't very keen on the day as my birthdays are coming around a little too frequently now but never the less the celebration part of the day was magnificent. We left Auckland at 7am as we have very real problems with the traffic to the motorway so we needed to allow time. We went out through Whitford, Brookby, Alfriston, Papakura and joined the motorway at Papakura. It was a lovely drive through the country with all the late Autumn colours. We arrived at Rod and Shirley's at Matangi Hamilton at 9am. Brrr it [View Full Entry]

I haven't been on the blog for a while, winter is here and so things have slowed down a little. We have been quite busy in the garden trimming and cutting down some of the greenery. The Wisteria at the front door has had a huge prune. It is thirty years old and was looking a little tired with branches dying and the borer was in some of the branches so the dust was dreadful. The dust kept coming in through the kitchen windows in the easterly winds, causing hayfever for the occupants of the house. So down it all came [View Full Entry]

As the photos show our weather has been a little changeable of late, typical Auckland, four seasons in one day. We had an incredible storm go through last night with a deluge of rain hence this morning a few leaks appeared around the house, so out came the trusty sealant. The other day the Sea Fog was amazing, it just rolled in from the Waitamata Harbour and stayed around most of the day. Winter is on it's way. Little Miss S has been having a busy time, she is now into catching little birds and leaving them at the back door. [View Full Entry]
