We are now back in Bangkok. We left Koh Tao by ferry to Chumphon and then took an overnight train to Bangkok. Our last days in Koh Tao were amazing! On one of our last days there...we decided to take a taxi across the island to Sairee Beach for the day and then hike back. Wow!! What a workout...I am seriously out of shape! A few too many Singhas! The hike was steep, steeper, and steep. But we survived and our reward was a view that was breathtaking. On our way back down the mountain we decided to stop off at Tanote-View bar/restaurant for a few beers to celebrate. This place is awesome...and this is where we met Momma, the most unforgettable Thai woman we have met so far. We talked to her for awhile and ... read more
Hello everyone. Hope you are all doing ever so wonderful! We are in Koh Phangan right now...we arrived last night after about 12 hours of traveling. So glad to finally see land again! We left Chang Mai and headed to Krabi. Krabi is a port town for ferrys to all the islands on the west side of Thailand. We planned on taking the ferry to Ko Phi Phi the day we arrived in Krabi but we missed the last ferry. So glad we did because we got to experience a little of Krabi. We took our first long tail taxi boat around the swamps. Our driver was about 10 years old and probably had been driving the boat since he was 5!! They first dropped us off at a cave where we saw our first non ... read more
All these years I just thought I was getting a quality massage. That was until yesterday...I finally had Thai Massage. I have never been stretched like that before....not by a stranger anyway :) I could go for one of those a day! So Sam and I are leaving Chang Mai today and heading to Bangkok for the night. We leave tomorrow for Ko Phi Phi...cant wait for the beach! Chang Mai has been great...we went to several temples while we were here. One of the temples, Doi Suthep, was really amazing. It sits on a mountain with a view of Chang Mai. To get to the temple we climbed many, many stairs...210 to be exact. A little out of breath once we reached the top. We also stopped by one of the Queen's many palaces. The ... read more
Okay....soooo yesterday Sam was hit hard by food poisoning. Really, really hard. Coming out of both ends hard. But he is much better today...he actually has pink in his cheeks. The day before he got sick, one of the locals, Ott, gave him a mohawk. It is so awesome. My dad would be proud :) I think I will stay away from the mohawk but maybe get a tattoo if the mood strikes me. Ohhhh yeeaahhh...Sam also met his life partner here, Lunei. He is the prettiest boy you have ever seen. So far he has sung to us "I will Survive" and "Twinkle, twinkle little star"... super, super special. So we are planning on leaving on Friday for the beach. I will post more later about our last two days here in Chang Mai. So ... read more
Jes: We arrived in CHang Mai yesterday by overnight train. We paid for 2nd class seating on the train...that includes a top and bottom bunk. I felt a little anxious at first but settled in as soon as I had a few beers. The trip took 14 hours...the train probably went about 40 mph. We met two great people from Japan...they ended up staying at the same guesthouse as us. The landscape on the trip up here was amazing...very green and lush with lots of rice fields. CHang Mai is amazing... the owners of the Libra guesthouse where we are staying are so sweet and welcoming. We went to a huge market yesterday....everything you can imagine. As we were walking around the market...we came across a temple. Outside the temple a lady was selling birds in ... read more
