Well, we are reaching the end of our big Indian Adventure, we are coming home on Wednesday! We have had an absolutely amazing time and for the last week we have been in Delhi. Our hotel is called 'Cottage Yes Please'! The name was one of the reasons we stayed here! We are having a great time here in Delhi, lots of laughs (Tom got so floppy from laughing the other day on the metro I had to hold his water bottle for him!) and we have seen lots of sights. Delhi is certainly quite different from other cities I have [View Full Entry]

Highest road in the world!
We didn't cycle up. Just down. It's not lazy, trust me.
We've safely returned from our cycling trip last night, and it was ace. Going back though. Our last trip from Leh was up to Nubra Valley. They only let you go here for a week, which is a shame because it's extremely beautiful. First we went to Panamik. The highlight here was a very long 4 hour trek to the waterfall opposite (on which Sal burnt her calves). I thought it would be a good idea to stand under it naked and get pics. Sal did it in her underwear (see photos). We thankfully got a lift back with some monks, [View Full Entry]

So the travelblog site has been down for a good few days now, and it turns out that it had properly crashed. We've recovered most of our blogs (nature poos galore is still missing!), but it's looking good. If you received loads of emails about old blogs, then sorry. Anyway, here are the links to some new video's we've put up on youtube. The new D-day  Asia » India » Jammu & Kashmir » Leh
D- Day - you will know why in a minute. We finally made the long bus journey (2 days) up to Leh in Ladakh in the state of Jammu & Kasmir, this is the disputed state in India and neither Pakistan nor India recognise the border. Where we are is safe though so hopefully we will be ok, the main problems are in the west of the state, where we are really hoping to go but unsure about the safety of it, we will keep looking at the newspapers. Anyway, the bus journey here was the most horrendous bus journey I [View Full Entry]

So we made it round our little route from Shimla, going east through Kinnaur Valley and Spiti Valley finally reaching Manali. From one highly touristy place to another. This one is your hippy type. Why do perfectly non-hippy type people suddenly start wearing hippy clothes, only to abruptly stop upon their return to their home countries. Well I did it I suppose. The journeys have been predominantly on public buses. Us foreigners never seem to have seats! We got some places on the back seat from Sichling to Kaza, and every bump we went over forced us about two feet [View Full Entry]

“I can definitely see the top now Sally” is something Tom has been saying to me quite a lot since our last blog so I thought it would be an appropriate title! Since our last blog we have been doing quite a lot of walking…..up mountains, Tom is a very enthusiastic walker and has been convincing me that walking up mountains is a good thing, well usually I would agree but when you are already 3500 metres above sea level when you are at the bottom of the mountain it can seem a daunting task and it is quite hard to [View Full Entry]

We have now left Shimla. Before we left, we went up to the Monkey Temple, which incredibly had loads of monkeys around it. They went up to this one guy and checked his pockets! The Monkey Temple (so called as it's here where the monkey god is worshipped) came with security guards equipped with catapults to fend off cheeky monkeys. The guards seemed to enjoy their work. Another thing we noticed in Shimla before leaving, was the large number of tactile men, who would often walk arm in arm or holding hands. I saw some cuddling up on a bench too. [View Full Entry]

We have finally arrived in Shimla....................................by helicopter! Tom was very excited and said that he would have paid more if he knew it was a helicopter, I would have paid a lot more for it to be a plane. It was a very bumpy 1 1/2 hours and yes, I was sick, luckily in a sick bag and Tom was very kind and let me vomit in his direction whilst rubbing my back! What a kind boyfriend. We have included a photo of the helicopter but not me being sick. Once we stepped off the helicopter it felt so much cooler [View Full Entry]

So firstly, our journey to Heathrow took about 7 hours, thanks to GNER. We still made it though, and arrived in Mumbai safe and sound. After a long hot taxi ride, in which we nearly crashed (traffic just seemed to be cutting across our path, yet we showed no sign of slowing), we arrived. On our street was our hotel, a couple of shops and several hundred makeshift houses, consisting of a tarpaulin sheet stretched from the wall to the curb. In between these were piles of rubbish and some excrement. In general, there were large amounts of people just sleeping [View Full Entry]
