Spent 8 days in the BVI waters this time around. This may be our last trip here before we head to Puerto Rico for Christmas and move the boat a little further north. It was beautiful weather in the mid 80s with great winds. We left Penns Landing the afternoon we arrived and spent the night at Marina Cay as a close stop over and to fill up on gas and water (recommended by Bob the previous owner). The girls were incredibly tired and grumpy and we spent way too much on dinner at Pussers. After this we vowed to eat cheap. We headed out to Spanish town the next morning in search of propane as we discovered our tanks were empty-while trying to make coffee (and the mean lady at the airport confiscated my mini ... read more

After 24 hours of travel we landed in Tortola with kids in tow. We spent the night t Marina Cay and got gas and water this morning. The girls were exhausted so it wasnt much of a good night sleep. Today is better so far. We provisioned at Spanish Harbor and are heading out to the north sound of virgin gordtodos afternoon? We wanted to go to Anagada today but too much shopping and organizing to do. The fishing pole is up though so hoping to catch some dinner on the way to the n sound. Managed to break the water pump last nightbut should have it fixed today. Pictures to come once Ifeet them uploaded.... read more

For our first vacation outside of the great state of Nevada, we chose Costa Rica for Thanksgiving. We flew into the capital city San Jose and had elected to rent a vehicle direclty from the airport. We arrived around 8 at night and didnt anticipate driving downtown from the airport in our tiny SUV. We had to argue with the salesman about the difference between 4 wheel drive and 4 by 4. If there are 4 wheels it is considered 4x4 for advertising purposes. Not quite what we wanted. From the rental copany we negotiated our way downtown to the Holiday Inn which was located in the center of the city. It was interesting driving in a new city, let alone at night with all the signs in Spanish and where the streets are packed with ... read more

So we have planned the next and last trip to the BVIs. We leave at the end of June for July 4th week, and we are taking the family this time for their first adventure on Tranquility. This time we are going to make an early morning sail to Anagada and then back to St John in the US Virgin Islands. This will be the last trip here for a while as we intend to sail to Puerto Rico over Christmas. Have read rave reviews about the island of Puerto Rico and looking forward to some spanish culture and practicing our spanish skills again. In the mean time, we are busy reading lots of books about people adventuring around the world by sail. Just finished Blue Horizons : Dispatches from Distant Seas. lots of ideas for ... read more

Excellent sail this morning from cane garden with knots of speed. Hit up marina caydoor lunch then a quick motor on over to trellis bay, famous for the full moon parties where they set giant metal balls on fire. Missed the last party this time. Getting an early night and then off to virgen gorda tomorrow to the bitter end yacht club.... read more
