| 15th May 2007 Gail - Valerie's Mum | Thank you for your blog - From: Peke yangu! Hi Sadha! Thank you so much for your blog - I read it avidly as Valerie (fellow volunteer Valerie - the one they say is quiet though I don't know I'd agree!) has not done a blog. In the run-up to going to village it was good to hear what everyone was doing and get a feel for how everything was and even now that you are all separated, I can get an idea of how things are - even though I do manage to communicate by text with Valerie and had a phone conversation with her last week. She has no electricity or water but seems to be managing - I'm sure you will be ok in the dry season! Charging the mobile phone has been a challenge but with the battery charger I sent her which works on AA batteries and a spare battery she gets charged for her by anyone going into town, she has managed ok and I have sent her a solar charger. Keep blogging and well done with the court. Thank you once again. Gail |

| 26th January 2007 The Spence's of QLD | Don't trust the meat again! - From: Meat or no meat...that is the question. Hi Sadha, Took a look at your page for the first time this morning (Australia Day). It is great to hear you having such a fantastic time. Seems like after the long, eventful and luggageless journey to Africa you have settled in very well and becoming one of the locals. I think you definitely need to pop a picture of yourself dressed in your "local crazy skirts" please. Good idea to stay away from the meat I would say. You'll turn yourself into a vegetarian very quickly or look forward to a nice fresh piece on your return. School goes back on Tuesday (30th) for our little munchkins. Livvy looking very forward to her first day - it will either be a raging success or a complete disaster. The former I hope!!!! She looks very cute in her uniform. Still remember you at the same age and here you are on this amazing adventure all the way across the other side of the world. We showed Jack and Livvy where you are on the map this morning!! Take care Sadha!!!!! We are proud of you. Enjoy yourself and stay safe. We will follow your adventures with great interest so keep us up to date. Love and hugs, Ian, Semon, Jack and Olivia xxxx |

Hey there Sadha, just had a long chat with your mum - sounds like you had quite a ride getting there (so much for our calculations!). Glad to hear things are settling down. S.Africa is a lot like Tanzania in some respects - the daladala (mini vans) full of people, the african men, kids and even ugali (mputu in ZA). If you have it for breakfast, try adding sugar and milk and eat it like porridge - yum!! I still make it for Dylan sometimes. Thinking of you lots. Will also email you. Love Karen (and Dylan)xx |
