We've looked forward to today. Today we enjoy a morning boat ride on Lake Powell. We opted for the Navajo tapestry tour. This tour covers Navajo Canyon and Antelope Canyon. The rock formation that looks like a tapestry is our destination on Navajo Canyon. The narrow lake passageway is Antelope Canyon. In the afternoon we'll head on down to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. There we'll enjoy the sunset of the canyon.... read more

Well Let's catch up! it is Tuesday morning. We leave Moab, Utah and head South. We arrive at Monument Valley on the Navajo Reservation. Entry to this area is by cash only so we head back out to the Gouldlings Trading Post to get some cash from the ATM. Monument Valley is not a place for a nice vehicle. The roads are nothing but dirt potholes. We crept along for several miles. We knew we had seen most of the well known places so we turned back. We had lunch at the convenience store at Gouldings. We both agreed that had some of the best burritos we had eaten. After all the fine restaurants we felt this was one of the best places we had eaten on the trip. We then made our way on down ... read more

This is an update for Oct 14, 2008 (Monday) We awoke early today because we had two areas to cover. We spent the first half of the day in Arches National Park just north of Moab, Ut. This park has over 700 arches, most of which are reached by long hikes. We chose the hike that was described as the best in the travel guides. The first hike was over a very difficult trail. At some points we walked along partitions that were only a few feet wide with drops of several hundred feet. ... read more

Well I am writing on Saturday Oct 11. However I am writing about Wednesday. We are behind because of the lack of wifi hotspots. I am stealing one from another motel at the present. Wednesday was spent mostly in Bryce Canyon. We hiked into the hoodoos at the bottom of the canyon. This was a difficult hike but well worth it. It is like a fairyland hike with all the hoodoos and cliffs surrounding us. Latter we hiked into Red Canyon and up to an area with 15 arches. The pictures I am uploading presently are from these areas. Yesterday Friday we drove through the grand staircase escalante NP. We hiked Kodachrome state park. There we saw a rock formation that looked like Fred Flintstone. This was an easy hike across the desert floor. We also ... read more

Hi everyone - here's some pics from our last morning hiking in Zion - up with the dawn to hike to the Emerald pools & then off through the mile long tunnel to drive the 70 miles north to Bryce. On the way we passed the White Cliffs & Red Canyon Park. The Red Hoodoos there were a taste of the many we were to see in Bryce. Once there we decided to follow the park instructions and drive out to the furthest end of the park... what a view - all the way to Arizona! More shots from Bryce to be posted soon...... Hoodoos are tall thin spires of rock that protrude from the bottom of arid basins and badlands. They are composed of soft sedimentary rock and are topped by a piece of harder, ... read more

It is morning in Zion NP. We are preparing to drive to Bryce Canyon north of here.. I want to make a small confession and cleanse my soul. Robin didn't win any money. She actually did pick the five horse back in Vegas. We had never been to a casino and had no clue on placing a bet. SHE WOULD HAVE WON $2500.00. Now lets write about yesterday in Zion NP. Our second day exploring Zion NP found us taking on an unforgettable hike. The goal was Angel's landing - a sliver of rock 1500 feet above the canyon floor. Its aptly named since only an Angel could land on it - and the angel's had better be watching if you attempt to climb it. On the advice of fellow hikers we climbed the first 1000 ... read more

Well I am finally posting. When we boarded the plane in Greensboro we knew we were already off to a bad start. The flight attendant came on the intercom and asked everyone to look for a pair of glasses. The pilot had walked the plane and was now missing his glasses. After no response she then inquired if anyone on board had a commercial pilots license. Later she inquired if there was perhaps a child on board who loved video games. She was particularly interested to know if there was a child on board that loved flight simulator games. Apparently there was still no response. By this time there were a few uncomfortable faces on the plane. Suddenly the pilot burst in "We are truly desperate. Is there anyone on board mechanically inclined that thinks they ... read more
