congratulations to Dan hey Dan,
loved your John McDouall Stuart stuff while you were walking. Very original. How did you know about Wm Finke?
You can visit www.johnmcdouallstuart.org.au - but be patient as we are rebuilding the webstie after it mysteriously totally vanished.
Cheers from Rick, President of the John McDouall Stuart Society
Apple picking cost Tash asked how much does the apple picking cost? It depends how much you pick. There is a weigh station at the exit and a reasonable per kg price. Great apples :-)
enjoying your posts. Just through I would drop you a quick line to say I am enjoying reading your posts. I came across your site in searching about Shepherds Hill. I have just started my own blog documenting our bushwalking journey's. Although it is going to take a lot of backtracking to document all our past walks! But this seems like a good site for documenting journey's. Maybe I should consider joining here instead?! It has been really interesting reading and seeing someone else's perspective on a walk I do regularly.
Ancient Rocks Hi
Was at halletts cove last may went down to the rocky beach.
Found some old rocks and pebbles to inspect in the hand.
Could these be many millions of years old?
Thanks David.
hey, nice pics you got here. i live near Shepherds Hill Recreation Park, about 500 m away. i like your pics but i never went up so high. i was suprised went i saw this picture's. i never see the train track and caves before. could you tell me which trail do you have to go. thnx
rock collection no-no Dan, it's illegal to remove rocks from the park (see the park website). I like your page, but please remove the suggestion that the park's a perfect place to start a rock collection.

Researching the Quinns We have done a little family history - but most of it has been done by Fr Laurie Quinn - who is the Parish Priest at Burra. He has a made a book.
Currently I am blogging the WW1 letters home of Thomas James Quinn - 1916 - 1919.

Quinn So enjoyable. I have Quinn ancestors. Patrick Quinn arrrived 1858 from Tippeary. Probably many relations came too. Have you done any family history research? Anne.
Friends of the Park The Friends of the ONKAPARINGA Parks can be seen working every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. We do have rangers and they do their best but they are thin on the ground.
The Park has been officially a Park since 1996.
Many of the walks were made official in the years since 1996. they are maintained by the Friends and DEH staff. We concentrate on feral plant species removal and repairing fences etc.
This is a gem of a Park system with much history and places of great beauty.
i agree we followed the creek from the dam and although a little difficult to follow a trail whichwasnt really there until the river turns to solid rock, Iwas completly impressed by what a hidden treasure it is,a least as good as the onkaparinga gorge.
Igneous rocks Hi. Good pictures and comments about Hallett Cove Conservation park. However, there are igneous rocks present on the southern beach... they are granites and porphyritic microgranites which came from east to southeast of Victor Harbour in a glacier during the permian period. They are hard to find though. It says this in the 'Hallett Cove Conservation Pary Management Plan', Department of Environment and Planning 1986.
conservation park Enjoy, interact, touch, inspect, feel and generally get hands on. But, leave the rocks in a conservation park in the conservation park for everyone to enjoy. NOT IN YOUR OWN PERSONAL ROCK COLLECTION. If everyone who visits the park did that as you suggested, and not just one but one of each colour; then there will be no more rocks for ALL to enjoy and be educated by.
Wonderful pictures plus Hi Quinn family,
This blog made me feel very happy- the photos are fabulous, the script so accessable I thought I was at Black Hill and your continuing curiosity and commitment to investigation and discovery uplifting. Thanks for these - they are so cheering,
Sue
RE: Hi Bas! Hi Diana, the plan is that we will visit Australia within the next 2 years. Brigitta will finish her M.Sc within 1 year from today. Than we can come over :-)
Hi Jack Concepta and John were impressive hosts - we had a great time in Quorn and look forward to going back to explore more (and coming back to the Old Mill). Thanks,
Diana
About us
We are a family who use our Sundays to discover, explore and enjoy the serenity of the world around us while getting some exercise.
We live in Semaphore, a beach-side suburb of Adelaide, South Australia. Although Adelaide and it's suburbs are quite flat, there is a range of hills that run North-South that provide for many interesting walks.
Here are some quotes that say some of what it means to us to go out bush walking.
In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks.
