I'm a student at The Ohio State University. I'll be living in Madrid, Spain and studying at the Universidad Complutense for the next 2 quarters (a semester there). When school is out, I'll snake my way up Europe to London over the course of 10 days.

This past weekend was probably the best of my life. No exaggeration. For this reason, I am working backwards. I still have a lot to catch up on from Morocco, the Canary Islands, Valencia, and everything in between, but I don’t want to forget anything I did this weekend. Here goes. My roommate and I signed up for this trip to Lisbon for the first weekend in May, which is a 4 day weekend. There are two holidays celebrated on May 1 and 2; Workers Day and Madrid Day, so it makes for good traveling. We did just that. This company we went with, Forocio, did not disappoint. It’s a student travel agency located in Madrid, which I saw an ad for in the Español Ya! Magazine I read from time to time. The trip cost ... read more

I´m going to try to add some pictures to this entry at a later time. I've been strapped for time lately, as I'm teaching four classes this week and there are strikes on the metro again. It's frustrating. But anyway, I apologize for the delays. In case anyone cares, I'm going to Portugal this weekend, so I may not be able to finish all this. I'm still 3 weeks behind and starting to forget some stuff. This is bad. It will be remedied soon. I promise. Anyway, here's what I actually wrote for this entry: Good lord, I’m three weeks behind. This is almost sinful. Recognizing the problem is the first step to recovery…so let’s do that. This journal reaches way back to April 7, in case anyone was wondering. On Friday morning, the flood gates ... read more

What’s up world. I’m back after some wanted and some unwanted delays. Seriously, I haven’t put up a substantial update in who-knows-how-long, and for that I’m sorry. All the goings-on of my life really need to be broken down into chunks. It will look something like this: my trip to Avila with my host family and the week prior to Semana Santa, my trip to Morocco in 2 or 3 parts, and my trip to the Canary Islands. All in all, I should really have this shit done by Friday, if all pans out. That never happens, though. So let’s begin. The first weekend in April was one I would consider to be less than stellar. A lot was going on, somehow, and I wasn’t a part of any of it. About 90% of the people ... read more

Hello world. To tell you the truth, I wish I could have written or updated in the last 10 days. It really wasn´t possible. I had the flu, went to Morocco where computers are nearly non-existent, and now I´m in the Canary Islands. I fly all the way to some secluded island and all I can do is use the internet. It´s sad. Anyway, I´ve had diarrhea for about 8 out of 10 days recently. It´s not conducive to writing. With that in mind, I just wanted to let everyone know that I´m going to write about 10-20 pages this week. So look out for it. I´ll be busy, but in a good way. Sorry about the delays. I hope I don´t forget anything good.... read more

All things factored in, you can call me lazy if you’d like. I couldn’t really argue. I’ve also realized that this blog is getting a little boring and not as well-kept. So from this point on, I am making a pointed effort to improve the quality of my entries, or at least to make them prompt. Any combination of the two is a plus. So here goes. This past week was interesting, to say the least. I wasn’t sure if allergies were bothering me, or if I was actually sick. Turns out I was sick, since it moved from my chest up to my head. That seriously sucked. I was either hacking up the most disgusting things this side of Hannibal Lecter or my nose was running like I’d spent 3 hours outside in a Minnesota ... read more

Somehow, I managed to make an otherwise uneventful week eventful. As I sit here and write this, I think this could have been my most fun week in Madrid. With that in mind…let’s get this blog rollin’. I woke up Tuesday at 8:30. This is not late by most standards. It is, however, late when you have class at 9 and getting to school takes 45 minutes, minimum. Needless to say, I had an interesting morning. I put on last night’s clothes and bolted for the door. Luckily, my family leaves around 8:30, so they were making noise and woke me. Crazy how things work out; I couldn’t hear anything for my ear plugs, but it worked out, somehow. So I jogged to the metro (my running days have long since passed) and I hit that ... read more

Somehow, I’ve managed to not update for over a week. I really couldn’t tell you that I’ve been up to anything important lately; in fact, I’ve been mulling over possibilities for what I’m going to do with my free time. So between thinking, sleeping, and not paying attention in my classes, I’ve neglected the 7 people who read about my life on a regular basis. For this, I apologize. I will try to get you up to speed. I guess last week was one of those plateau weeks. Nothing overly spectacular happened, but it sure was full of things to do. Let’s begin with last weekend. Old man warning: I went to bed before 12:30 on Friday and Saturday last weekend. There really wasn’t a helluva lot to do. Friday I was just tired and I ... read more

I'm testing my title for this post. Every one of my posts with a city name or something seems to get a lot of hits. It's an experiment. Alright, for those of you who aren’t my mom, you probably aren’t aware of what I’ve been up to this week. Luckily, today is Saturday and I fell asleep at 11:15 last night. Talk about being an old man; my first free night in Madrid in nearly a month and I decided to go to bed earlier than I would on a school night. In all reality, I fell asleep waiting for a phone call, and by the time I got it, I figured I’d rather get a good night’s sleep. Monday was a mildly strange day. Typically, I get up at 7:30, leave for class between 8 ... read more

Alright, it’s time to finish talking about my weekend in Granada. Seriously, I fee like I’ve been writing about it all week (I have). I also had written nearly a page, if I remember correctly, but I can’t seem to find it now. All signs are pointing to me never finishing this. Good Lord. I still have to talk about what’s been going on this week. Luckily, no excursion is planned for the weekend. Time to sleep in and play catch-up. Picking up where we left off, Saturday wasn’t particularly exciting or anything. As I’ve said before, Granada is a pretty cool place. When I woke up on Saturday, my back felt as if I’d tried to win a strong man competition without being named Magnus or Helmut. Being out of shape really has its minuses, ... read more

I really want to apologize for taking all week to put everything together. Life has been quite hectic in recent times; my roommate moved out on Tuesday, and I had no clue that was going to happen. Like I said, hectic. I’ll finish writing about last week either today or tomorrow, so everyone can be up to date. OK? I started the post on Thursday and I decided I had to scrap almost the entire thing. A lot happened this weekend, and a lot happened this week. Really. This post is going to be crazy-long. Sorry. Here’s a dash of last week: Wednesday after class we met up at the ISA office to dawdle in the boats at el Retiro. That was actually pretty fun. Madrid is usually sunny during the afternoon, so spending about an ... read more
