Mount Fuji 10/08-11/08  Asia » Japan » Shizuoka » Mt Fuji
"You are a wise man if you climb Mnt Fuji, but you are a fool if you climb it twice" as the Japanese saying goes i have to agree with that. Me my two brothers (sjoerd and David), my father (peter) and my neighbor (David) started at 4 AM in the afternoon in shibuya the fuji climb by eating loads of Ramen. Around 5PM we left shinjuku (tokyo) and drove by bus to the mnt Fuji region, the bus dropped us at the 5th station. After some stretching, some coffee, and etc we started at 9 pm our wise man climb. During my stay in Japan i was amazed by the strange, difficult and painfull situations Japanese people can sleep. But after 6 months i have become one of them...i can sleep on the most weird places and in the strangest positions. Probaly it's in the air or i'm just tired from all the experiences.... Busan 14/08-15/08  Asia » South Korea » Busan
August is suposed to be a holiday month, so i decided to make it a holiday. August 12th i took the local train from Tokoy to Hiroshima (16 hours) where i spent the nigth, the next day i took the local train to shimonoseki (5 hours) where i jumped on the ferry to South-Korea. For some period of time i'm interested in this country, because of it's kind of similarity to Japan (little bit), it's devided notion/ closed border to North Korea and its not so touristic being. As soon as i showed my passport without re-entry visa the first problems [View Full Entry]

The last days of my trip to South-Korea i spend in Seoul and it's surroundings. This city is probaly the most weirdest cities i've ever been, it was hard to capture it and to place it in a context. The city with its 13-14 milj inhabitants is one of the biggest in the world. In a way with its neon lights, big streets and infrastructure it can be compared to tokyo, only in Seoul there is the systematic and greenery missing. So now and than there are these huge similar and ugly appartment towers areas on a small space which make [View Full Entry]

The folowing day i took the early bus to Geongju, said to be the kyoto of Korea. I had to agree with that, the city hosted some great temples and palaces. The difference with the japanese temples/ shrines is that the Korean ones are smaller, but much more colourfull. I was amazed by the beautifull painting of animals and gods. Half the day i visited some temples before going by bus to Daegu, the third largest citie in Korea. Wel known about its famous herbal medicine market, here you find the fairytale powerdrinks such as reindeer horns, strange leafs, ginseng roots, [View Full Entry]
