Roving Rob - Rob Whitmill

Rob Whitmill I have been travelling on various occasions since 1998, sometimes with friends and other times by myself.
I love travelling and what to keep doing it on occasion while i´m still young. Hope you all like the blogs. I{ll try to make them as interesting as possible.
Make sure you read the full texts as I will try and add a couple of photos for each place.
It's certainly different without Team Gap here.

Our last leg of the trip was to be towards San Francisco. The trip was pretty uneventful as far as I can remember. If something did happen please remind me. Though just before reaching the bridge we went through a tunnel that if you didn't hold your breat while going through you would turn gay. Kel is now a lesbian, or for the more politically correct, a woman in comfortable shoes. We travelled across the Golden Gate Bridge which is absolutely amazing. We stopped at the bridge with a bit of fog greeting us. Very common in San Francisco. A bit [View Full Entry]

Everybody had woke up feeling rested and we were able to leave Bishop after paying a visit to a great bakery and a rendevous with 'The Sierra Phantom', (the only living legend). This guy was hanging outside the bakery as cool as can be with quite a git up. After 5 minutes of chatting I was informed that he invented glitter and made regular 30 mile hikes back into town just for the coffee. A real character. We decided to make the visit to mono lake a distant one and instead opted for the lengthier stay at yosemite. The entire area [View Full Entry]

Well Guys, i'm still going. Trying to get all these journals done. I was just realising that all the suntrek people know this stuff anyway and the rest of you probably couldn't give a crap. I'll keep going anyway. Waking up with hangovers and stories of each others demise we were ready to leave vegas when we were greeted by Kel's projectile vomiting into the bin outside the bus. Yeah, she got shotgun. The great thing about this trip was that we were hung over and we were driving into death valley. What a great cure for a hangover. 40 degrees [View Full Entry]

Sunset was great and sunrise just topped off the experience. We all got up early and headed to the edge for the experience. We had a long drive ahead of us and so we had a quick breakfast and were packed and gone before the other groups could say 'Chin Chin atama'. The reason for our early departure was not only the length of the trip but also because six of us including Priska had decided to take the plunge and go skydiving over vegas. We dropped the rest of the girls at the factory outlet and we went to the [View Full Entry]

Another Day. More stories to tell. We got up quite early. I was up for sunrise and went for a swim in the lake which felt great. We managed to pack up very quick and already Priska was realising that she was in the midst of a truly great group. We payed a visit to the store where we were lectured about the importance of salt (not the last time either) while trekking in the Grand Canyon. Route 66 was the major port of call on the way to the Canyon and so we stopped at one of the few places [View Full Entry]

Hey Guys Entry number 2. Sorry about the lateness. Trying to get each entry in to catch up is hard. Well after an awkward sleep ontop of a rock we went for a walk through some of Joshua tree's beatiful scenery. Some of the most amazing formations i've ever seen. The heat was already rising in the morning. We then made our way to Lake Havasu while becoming more aquainted in the van. It was great because verybody seemed to be getting on and having a great time. We arrived at Lake Havasu very early after a sweltering trip in the [View Full Entry]

Hey Everybody There are lots more things that have been happening recently. I have ceased my time as an aupair and have taken my last trip in the states before heading down to Mexico. I actually decided to go on a tour called Suntrek tours and it couldn't have been better. I once again realised that I had put myself in the enviable position of being the only male in the group. The rest consisting of 2 Japanese, 2 Swedes (sorry Pou), 3 Germans, 2 Australians, 1 Scotsman, 1 Panamanian, 1 dirty, ashes stealing Pommy and a Swiss Tour Guide. Our [View Full Entry]

Well, I figure that since I've started this whole travel journal that I should probably have a bit to say about my home away from home for 7 months. It is an amazing city. Not always enjoyable, but most of the time I loved being here. I have done everything I hoped to do and more with my time here. I've got plenty of photos and lots of other stories that I couldn't possibly fit in to the blog because my literacy skills are going to fail me as I'm sure Team gap would second. I will try and give you [View Full Entry]

Ottawa was very relaxing and proved to be a great stepping stone for my visit to montreal. My visit coinciding with the 'Just for laughs comedy festival' (there's a festival every week in summer). I think I got one of the best though. This place has so much going for it and I only wished I had more time to have checked the place out more. Not letting time dictate my enjoyment I found myself travelling by foot through all the streets, along the F1 track, up hills and into various buildings of interest with a great girl called April from [View Full Entry]

Capital O

North America » Canada » Ontario » Ottawa
It was time to leave the largest city and make the trip to the Capital city of Canada. The stay though very short was a very pleasant one and was much more interesting than Toronto. I stayed in a HI Hostel which is a converted jail and allows you to sleep in the cells. very cool indeed. The city was lovely and so easy to walk around. Myself, paul and Lorian (2 aussies) explored the Lochs, the waterfront and the Parliment area. It was great to see how the boats made it up through the Lochs. In the evening we watched [View Full Entry]
