Saturday morning we continued east until arriving at our first destination, Zion National Park. Our friends Ron & Cori had planned the Zion trip and met us there. They introduced us to their friends and relatives Bruce & Monica, who live and work in Papua New Guinea, and their son George. Our days were filled with activities, and happy hours and dinners took place together nightly. Ross and I took a bike ride the first afternoon. It went well until we were stopping back at the RV. Ross lost his balance and he and his bike went down on top of me and my bike. (My bike actually belongs to Jenni. She graciously loaned it to us for our trip.) We bought "Sweet Thing", our 2007 36' Pacifica diesel pusher, on October 21, 2006. Retirement was just 7 months away and we wanted to be ready to hit-the-road. Well, it's been 3 years and 6 surgeries since retirement, but the day is finally here. We've managed to load virtually the entire contents of a 2400 square foot house into a 300 square foot RV. All that's left in the refrigerator is a over-sized jar of sun-dried tomatoes and 2 jars of Claussen pickles. And the only clothes left in the closet are the ones that don't fit anymore...and I almost packed them too just in case I eat-my-way to Alaska.
