Fiji Frolicks

Even getting to Fiji was full of excitement.... our plane was delayed by several hours which led us to get chatting to a couple we had seen many times in New Zealand. They told us they had spotted Wolf from Gladiators in the airport so to pass the delay time we immediately set off on a wolfhunt. Half an hour later we had searched all of Auckland airport with no success. Dismayed we decided to

Volcano Dodging in New Zealand

Still buzzing from the excitement of our skydive we aka Thelma and Louise set off on a roadtrip to find Rosie's great aunt and uncle near Napier. After a fairly hairy drive dodging logging trucks cones and tractors in a presumed stolen rental car Tony and Nora charmed us with sandwiches tea and cakes and regailed us with stories of Rosie's distant relatives. On our safe arrival back in Taupo

Kiwi Kraziness

We have just survived throwing ourselves out of a plane from 15000 feet over Lake Taupo which is also an active volcano as if skydiving wasn't dangerous enough anyway on New Zealand's North Island. For those of you that don't know a skydive from 15000 ft is the highest you can do and involves oxygen a freefall of over a minute 10000 ft at 200kmhour which distorts your face in a variou

Trials and Cape Tribulations

After a cruise along the Daintree River during which we saw a baby crocodile and loads of snakes we arrived at Cape Tribulation Beach House where nowhere was safe. We were at a remarkable meeting of two World Heritage sites the oldest rainforest in the world and the Great Barrier Reef but this did not change the fact that everything there could potentially kill us. Our lodgings happened to encro

Rain In Australia Isn't it Summer

We touched down down under and were convinced we had made a massive detour back to the UK. Rain was bouncing off the runway and our little faces dropped. Our sunshine adventure seemed all but over. Rosie didn't even have a waterproof Nevertheless we battled on and spent 2 days in rainy Cairns mostly drowning our sorrows. One night we ended up having a lockin in a barinternet cafe where we ha

It seems so long now since last we wrote... Australia really is as good as they say We seem to have far less free time than we did in India Nothing to do with the abundance of bars and beaches... of course. So... back to Singapore We woke up early on Valentine's Day morning on a plane gave each other a Valentine's kiss closed our eyes so it could have been with the man of our dreams... an

Turtle Power

On the advice of Becky and Mike we took a slight detour back up north to Mon Repos beach in Bundaberg. It was well worth the trip as we witnessed 113 baby turtles hatching digging their way out of their nest and scuttling into the sea over Rosie's toes.Rosie spent much of the time when not in awe of the turtles crying silently about the tragic loss of her favourite little camera. after hav

When we heard we were going to self drive a 4x4 and go camping on the world's largest sand island we thought it sounded like paradise....... which it was except for all the sand other people and numerous dingoes We spent 3 days swimming in amazing freshwater lakes McKenzie Wabby as well as Ely Creek and the Champagne Pools. Indulged in a bit of shark spotting at Indian Head and saw a beached

Aimless in Airle

Airlie beach is a pretty small place to spend four days we had to wait before going on a boat trip... especially when it rains a lot of the time... and your 10 person dorm smells of mouse pee which happens to be all over your clothes Irish boys' farts and damp. Nevertheless we made the best of it. We sampled the delicacy that is Bundy Rum and coke which was on tap weird. It didn't enti

ANOTHER 8 hours to kill in Mumbai Airport

After an all night train journey followed by the bus journey from hell we ended up in the middle of nowhere in a place called Coorg where all they do is make coffee. Spent a few days walking about accompanied by Maurice's commentary about different species of bird which he definitely couldn't see even with binoculars. Also encountered our first really serious problem with the Indian accentsen

After nearly getting runover several times on the journey to the internet cafe we thought we'd write about what we've done so far just in case we don't make it back to the other side. Weve been in India for 12 days and already want to kill various members of our tour party. Especially 72 year old Maurice. Yes 72. And Mike the chainsmoking welltravelled Communist Cambridge graduate
