Tour du Mont Blanc is one of the classic and most famous walking routes in Europe circling some 170 km around the Mont Blanc massif. The route passes through France, Italy and Switzerland on an easy to follow and well trodden trail offering some very scenic and outstanding mountain views along the way. Thousands of people complete the TMB every year and normally it can be done in 8-12 days. Good weather is not always a guarantee. When I did the walk in June I experienced 4 seasons in less than 24 hours with rain, snow and wonderful sunshine hitting the trails leaving me in full winter gear at one moment and T-shirt just a few hours later. Kevin Reynolds guidebook " Tour of Mont Blanc " was very informative and useful to bring along. I ... read more

GR 20 is one of the most famous long distance walks in Europe stretching 180 km almost diagonally through the island of Corsica from the village of Calenzana in the north to Conca in the south-east. Guided by the red-and white waymarks the walk takes you on a real roller coaster adventure up and down through some of the finest mountain sceneries in Europe. Once you hit the trail you will soon understand why this tiny beautiful island of Corsica is sometimes referred to as the "a mountain in the sea" or the "granite island". Despite being only the fourth largest island in the Mediterranean Sea after Sicily, Sardinia and Cyprus, Corsica inhabits the highest mountians of any of the islands in the area. It actually has more than twenty mountains above 2000 metres. The GR ... read more

" All walking is discovery. On foot we take the time to see things whole " After visiting Nepal for the first time in 2008 doing the stunningly beautiful treks of Annapurna Circuit + Annapurna Basecamp, I simply could not get enough of this splendid and exciting country. The decision to come back for more mountain adventures next year was very easy to make. This time a walk from Jiri and all the way up to Everest Basecamp including Gokyo Valley + Cho La Pass + Kongma La + other sidetrips was on my agenda. I did a fair bit of reading and excercise before I went to be prepared for what was to come. Since I decided not to have a porter or guide with me ( only for the Cho La Pass & ... read more

After spending 10 days in Tanzania enjoying a wonderful trek up Mount Kilimanjaro on the Machame Route and ending my stay in this lovely country with some great safari in Tarangire National Park and Lake Manyara National Park, it was time for some more mountain adventures in Kenya. The bus-ride from Moshi to Nairobi was supposed to take 6 hours according to the books, but it took me more than 9 bumpy hours before I finally arrived in the capital. I had been given a lot of warnings about this supposedly crime-hit city before I came here so I decided to be a little bit more careful and use a lot of common sense when walking in the streets downtown. On my descent from Mt.Kenya I actually met a couple who had been badly mugged by ... read more
