As expected we took this day easy and did not do much at all, played cards and made plans where to go next... Muang Sing tomorrow. We have rented a motorbike and drove to Muang Sing. The ride was spectacular, cool breeze, the smell of the forest, and as far as you could see hills covered in trees, what more do you need.... Phonsavan We have arrived without any complications, only on the way there it was absolutely pissing it down. We had lovely welcoming committee waiting for us, and look they even have banners ...with guest houses... we got put into minibus and were taken to a guest house... Our visa were sadly running out, we have to move, next destination Phongsali. We had to go through Oudomxay, where we spent one night before heading up north. WELCOME CAMBODIA TRAVEL We had no problems crossing the boarder as we already had visa, only had to pay stamp duty. Arriving to Stung Trent was interesting, from here we wanted to head towards Siem Reap, however apparently the roads towards west are no good, you have to go through Phonon Penh... how much... $20 each... don't think so, that was the quote we got from the guy who took us across the boarder.... bit of asking around and we went by taxi for $11 each... however how little did we know about travelling in Cambodia... " Don't worry I do this every day..." ... was what we got told by motorbike drivers as they were talking us to our guest house with our backpacks in front of them,.." look I can even drive with one hand..." we did feel really safe... no... On your bike... where will be go today.... lets go and find Ream National Park... easy...we have booked a day trip for the next day. Ream National Park " be here at 9 " OK we are here even 20 minutes earlier, however HERE was not here at all... it was another 15 minutes on bike away... and when we have arrived they did look like had no idea we were coming... organisation... well ....luckily we had a "receipt" - piece of paper with handwritten scribble on it... MIND OUT.... COW! ... DOG!! .. COW!! .... CYCLIST!... COW!!! That was what was going through our mind most of the 10 hour journey to Siem Reap, and as we sat right at the front, so many times we saw the cows almost landing in our lap... well, it is their land, so why should they hurry or move, when the driver is beeping the horn like there is no tomorrow. TEMPLES OF ANGKOR We have arranged for our landlord Tom to take us to the temples as he was also Tuk Tuk driver, we wanted to see the sunrise and sunset... so 5.30 am departure... PHONOM PENH - grows on you Back to the capital, - "where you go..., tuk tuk lady ..." . We needed Laos visa. We did not plan to go back to the same guest house as the first time, instead we found one that was secluded from the main street.
