Hey there. How are things now? Feeling better? It does sound pretty hard to live with a completely different family for so long. Don't worry about keeping thing cheery for us, you are more than welcome to vent as much as you need. Good luck for the rest of your trip!

Wotcha
Woop woop shiv, I've just had a catch up on all your blogs so I thought I'd post one mass out comment rather than loadsa small ones... anyway, johnny englishj makes me chuckle. And also, good luck with the kimono-ing - I've always wanted to wear them, I'm soooo jealous of all the amazing experiences you're having. But christmas away must've been weird - interesting though, are there more people you know from NZ out there, or is it just you? Good luck - keep smilimg and avoiding toe treading on! If you get homesick just lay back and think of Harry Potter... h.xox

Imagine if you'd thrown up on the Kimono... Oh noes. OMG a sushi conveyor belt! All the sushi spinning around would've made me dizzy! D:

I watched Step Up today :)
Hey Luv!! Just wanted to say Merry Xmas (which I just remembered I already have on your Bebo) and Happy New Year!!! It's a little late but I've always been a little slow!! lol Anyway it sounds like you're having fun - Mandarin picking sounds interesting, I surpose it's just like being a fruit picker here which by the way they have a real shortage of at the mo - sorry I'm rambling. Soooo yeah - enjoy the cold weather while all us NZers bask in the glory of Sunshine (unless you live in Dunedin - I got rained on today when I was walking home from town - I sucked!!!) hahahahahaha...... Jokes! :)

Happy New Year, Shivvy. Good luck with the feast! I had to re-read that line about the rice cakes that have to be sucked out of people's throats with a vacuum cleaner a couple of times. ^_^ Keep up your very admirable taking up of many challenges. You're doing great. And write lots, it's wonderful to read all these details of Japan. Maybe post some pictures in the New Year, hey? Please? XD Love and luck from, Monica

Mmm, KFC. But what a weird custom, LOL! I suppose it could be a bit difficult to get through a turkey or a ham with chopsticks. Traditional with like, the really thin walls and sliding doors? That;s awesome, I'd have loved to've seen it. =D We have a big mirror in our bathroom, I love it! Once you get used to it and you use a bathroom without one, it's a bit disappointing. That song...catchy, but I still don't know if I like it. I think it's a bit crap, on the whole. But so catchy!

KFC Christmas
Hamish had KFC for christmas too. EWWW Umbrella. I thought you would've seen the back of that in Japan. Guess not.

Merry Christmas, Siobhan! The ridiculous time-change makes me kind of late, but I hope that's ok. It's kind of sad to hear of the vast commercialization. Is your host family planning on taking you to a rural, and hopefully less-touched area sometime during your stay? Ah well, I guess that kind of thing can't really be blocked out completely.

Re: Monica
Thank you, and thanks for all your comments so far too! I love getting them. Congrats on making it to Winter vacation - that must be a relief! ;-) Freedom for a couple of weeks, yeah? Enjoy it! Mmm.... I get some time alone. I usually just go to bed early and read Harry Potter, and that makes me feel better, lol.

Re: Kim
Hehe, I will - I haven't seen any interesting English signs yet, but I'm on the lookout for you! By the way, would you like a postcard or something? Coz if you message or email me your address, I would love to send you one! =)

Don't get too frustrated, Siobhan. You're doing amazing (especially with the trying different kinds of food! I am impressed. ^_^ ). And right now you're probably being overloaded with new experiences... and sounds. Do you get a decent amount of time alone? I know that I, being a hermit, would need to have a store of alone time to be able to get on throughout the day. Anyway, have a great winter holiday. My last day is tomorrow.

Oh man, Pringles...but good on you, trying new things - that's the ticket. I figure even if it's the worst tasting thing ever, then at least you've got a good story out of it. =D Ah, escalator ettiquette. They have it in the city here too, lol. People get pissed if you stand on the 'walking' side. Engrish is hilarious. =D If you see signs or stuff with funny English translations on, you have to take photos. =D It doesn't really flow, Japanese, does it? Not like Spanish or something. It's quite accented.

AHAHAHA The buttons!!! To be honest, I never used the squat toilets in China, because if I'd had an accident there was no way of doing anything about it until we got back to the hotel. I played it safe. I had pizza in China with pumpkin and corn on it, so I know what you mean about random toppings. I like octopus. =D AHHHH Karaoke!!! Awesomeness. =D

You press those buttons!
Hahaha. I think you should brave the squat toilets, and in fact brave as much as you can. It sounds like you already have, and that you're having a good time. I really hope you are. P. S. Post pictures soon!

Thanks for putting these up. It sounds like you are having many excellent adventures, haha. I'm so glad I get to read them. Have fun with the kiddies tomorrow. I'm kind of stressed with school right now, so I could use a heavy over-dose of cuteness. Peace out. XD

Girls can be soo rude. You should totally get with the salsa instructor? Then you can tell the japanese girls at school about your whirlwind romance. You'd be keen!! I secretely bet that you hesitated before signing the no-porno contract. I know you Siobhan.

If I went to a porno bar I'd order a 'sex on the beach' cocktail
LOL what IS a porno bar, even? A strip club? I love mistranslations. =D I took photos of some in China. One of them was a sort of 'slippery when wet' or something sign, for when there's been a spill in like a shopping centre or something and it's been cleaned, you know? It said 'Slide carefully'. =D LOL Stud muffin is such a fantastic phrase. This is why English is so awesome, because seriously, that doesn't even make sense, does it? I am totally imagining you sneaking in Disney fashion, hiding behind things that are too narrow to possibly conceal you. =D Yeah - I suppose even if Asian people dye their hair, they'd have black eyebrows. Unless they went the whole way, but probably not. People look strange with the wrong coloured eyebrows. Daniel Potter, niice. =D Jeez, no one would ever guess my fave actor, I'd have to go with Dan or Elijah or someone else.
