Today was our first domestic flight in the states. This was so much more full on than getting into the country. To get through security we had to take our shoes off and stand in an X-ray box, where they see straight through your clothes. After being exposed we boarded the flight to Las Vegas. We're only here for the night, because tomorrow we head to Flagstaff, Arizona, which is on our way to the Grand Canyon. I didn't get to do any gambling. Instead I bussed to the closest Walmart to get a tent for the canyon. I spent the rest of the night watching the NFL in the hotel. I'll be back in Vegas in a week to make a million.... read more

We spent today being toured around LA by a couple of girls Jae met the night before. Sarah and Alicia were Californian bred and were overly excited about our accents. We spent the afternoon in West Hollywood where I drank bottomless mimosa's before driving around Hollywood. They spent the rest of the day with us at the backpackers where we did what we do best a the backpackers, drink, a lot. To finish up the night we decided to hit up the Korean karaoke bar, where I wrapped the evening up with some sort of Korean rendition of "you're the voice".... read more

After the night at the pier and the drinking, it was good to spend the day jus lazing at the backpackers. I spent the majority of the day sun baking in the patio and taking advantage of the cheap beers. This continued through out the night with a group of German backpackers.... read more

Santa Monica's pier is world famous and features in a heap of films. Today was just a relaxing day at the hostel, drinking some coronas before catching the bus to the pier. The bus ride takes roughly an hour. Which is the same as going to Venice beach. If you continue following the coast line from Venice beach you can make it to Santa Monica pier in about a 20 minute walk. Once there it was a great place to photograph. You had the beach, food and amusement rides all in the same place. On the beach I sat until sunset where I could get some decent shots of the pier. After this it was back on the bus and the drinks at the backpackers for the remainder of the night.... read more

Today we spend the afternoon at Venice beach. There's a thick mist over the ocean so it wasn't the best photo weather. Off the beach you have the Venice beach strip which runs along the beach line. Here you have stores selling Venice beach memorabilia, some food and clothing stands and also a bunch of smoke shops. This place is also full of crazies selling their hand made jewelry or paintings. They're mainly homeless or vietnam vets trying to get by. During the night we head to Dodgers stadium to catch the LA Dodgers v St Lois Cardinals baseball game. This was great fun. I paid about $60 for a seat above the Dodgers dug out, where you could see everything, yell taunts and catch the odd fowl ball.... read more

Today is just a relax day. After the full on couple days with universal studios and Disneyland, it's time to sit back in the sun and drink Corona's all day. In the evening we head back to Hollywood to walk the strip. We check out the chinese theater and the movie star impersonators. The rest of this street is covered with souvenir shops and bums. Jae got a tattoo in the tattoo store they have on the street. Other than that it was a relatively quiet day with some chilled site seeing.... read more

We’re up early to catch the hour‐long train ride to Anaheim. Again, we planned it on a weekday to avoid as many kids as possible, but there were still hundreds/thousands of them there. We’ve got an extra person with us this time with our new Austrian friend Nici. I got to get my photo with a few of the characters. Minnie had the hot’s for me and I’m pretty sure Goofy was drunk. The rides were all really good. I didn’t realize the people in the cup controlled the spinning teacup ride’s speed. It was far too much power for me to have and I made everyone sick. Disneyland is definitely a must do. I wish I had taken my time to rest though. The place is gigantic and my feet were pummeled after it. By ... read more

Today we caught the train to Universal studios. I’m really getting the hang of this transport system, and everything seems to be 10-15minutes away from each other. I picked up a front of the line pass at the Universal Studios gate for $120 where I can access everything without having to wait. Definitely worth it since other people would wait from 10 to 40 minutes in queue. This was a school day too so there weren’t many kids around. The Universal studios tour was awesome! They take you around on a railed shuttle and see all the movie sets where they filmed previous television shows and movies. You see loads of old movie sets and they explain how most the filming takes place. It’s not just a sight seeing tour of the studio sets; they also ... read more

We leave the downtown hotel early morning, sweltering heat again, about 36 degrees my phone read at one stage. We spent the day gathering our bearings, catching the subway and metro bus system. There were a lot of negative reviews on the LA public transport, but I found it really easy to use and quite cheap. For $5 you can purchase a day-‐tripper, which allows you to access the subway or busses for the full day. Otherwise you’re looking at $1.50 for 4 hours of the same access. Busses are regular, every 5 to 10 minutes in most areas, and the trains are fairly much the same. We catch the train from Downtown Union Station to Wilshire/Western. From this station it’s about a 10-‐minute walk to Korea Town where our packers is. We drop our bags ... read more

This flight was much easier than the first to China. I managed to sleep 2/3rds of the way. We arrive in LA around 6pm and of course have a pain in the arse getting through Border security. It seemed they were just throwing intimidating questions at everyone that went through. Anyway, we got through. So with my finger prints and photos taken, we make our way out of LAX and bus to Downtown Los Angeles. The walk to the hotel from the bus station is pretty surreal. It’s still incredibly hot, and there are a lot of homeless people in the streets. After a couple of blocks we make it to the hotel where I find my legs heavy and sore from not moving them while asleep on the flight. Feet swollen and tingling, I call ... read more
