so this has become our general plan for the day since we have been in Italy. Of course, some gelato and espresso breaks are thrown in there, and we usually end the day with some wine. We arrived in Florence on Tuesday evening, quickly found our hotel, and after haggling with the receptionist (for some reason she wanted to charge us more for air conditioning) we got checked in and headed out in search of dinner. As we were wandering around looking for something to eat, we were flagged down by some of our classmates from France who were in line for the Academia. It worked out perfectly that they were right at the front of the line AND that the academia is free on tuesday nights. life doesnt get any better! due to our grumbling ... read more

Arrived in Santa Margherita on Saturday the 29th, about an hour after we had planned due to a missed connection in Genova, so we didnt have our welcome wagon waiting at the train station. We walk down the hill to the waterfront to try and call Ni and Krissy, but no one is home. As we set out to find the address, I hear my name being yelled from across the street. (our backpacks make us stand out like a sore thumb in a resort town) Krissy spotted us from her store front. Quick tour of the four Kristine Orsi Boutiques preceded Dinner with Ni, Krissy, Nicole, and Alessia (the youngest of the four kids). Alfonso Christina and Rosario were out of town until our last night there, so we are considering stopping there again beofre ... read more

We just finished our last final ever of our undergraduate careers!!! wooohoooo! sorry for the lack of updates over the last couple months, but with no internet at the chateau, and being incredibly busy with school there hasnt been a whole lot of time to venture into Canne for internet access. Class was pretty intense over the last couple weeks, lecture in the mornings five days a week, we visited 11 museums, wrote 9 short essays, one long paper, had one oral presentation and just took our two hour final... aside from that we have to admit that sometimes we were incredibly busy snorkeling, laying on the beach, watching the tour de france, going out dancing and eating as many eclairs as we possiobly could. With less than 24 hours left here we are trying to ... read more

So I guess Montelimar (the Nougat capitol of the world) is too small of a town to list by the blog site, but not too big for the tour. When checking the maps to see how close the tour was coming I thought, hour, two tops by train. Well no, it was four and a half hours one way. But shit... its the Tour! So we embarked on our journey from La Napoule at 5:45 by bike (how appropriate- the trains and busses didnt run eary enough for us to catch the train) to catch out 6:30 train from Canne. We arrive in Montelimar at 11:00, and am imediatly in need of caffiene before we can be excited. Once Caffinated tour fever catches on in a big way. The entire town has embraced the arrival of ... read more

As fun as our Parisian adventure was, we were ready to head to the south of france and start classes. We occupied our 5 hour train ride by taking turns reading David Sedaris's stories about moving to france and learning the new language. If you havent read his book "Me Talk Pretty One Day" do it! It is hilarious, and after struggling with the language barrier in Paris it was that much more hysterical to read about his experience. After 5 hours we switched trains in Cannes and headed to La Napoule. We had been informed that the place we were staying was a tourist attraction of the small seaside town aptly named Chateau de La Napoule, but no words could do this place justice. We saw it from the train on the way in and ... read more

So our long and exhqsting flight; we landed at CDG mid morning on thursday (after leaving on wed). Feeling rather confused and out of place, we made it to our hotel, abd set out on the town to explore via 'Fat Tire Bike Tour of Paris' No this was not q pub crawol, but a bike tour on beach cruisers. It was a nice way to get a feel for the geography of this small but busy city and exactly what Robin needed to stay awake (all patrick needed was caffeine). We adjusted to the nine hour time difference fairly quickly by keeping ourselves busy on Friday with a trip to the Louvre. We made sure to give ourselves a whole day so we could see more than just the mona lisa and the "dude" with ... read more

So we are finally leaving the hot, cow smelling town of Davis after 5 years and are ready to figure out what happens next. We both graduated with B.S.s; Patrick's in Civil Engineering and Robin's in Graphic Design. We also will both have minors in Art History and strategically planned it so that we would have to take our last class this summer in France. So far the plan is to spend a week in Paris before heading to the Riviera which is where we will have class for 3 weeks, and then off to Italy to explore for another 3 weeks. Then back to California to find jobs and adjust to real life. Hopefully we will have exciting enough adventures and photos to keep you all entertained and would love to hear what you ... read more
