| 27th June 2009 Pastor Steve | Met you on 94 - From: Over the Big Horns to the Black Hills I talked to Roger Will last week at Perkins and he mentioned you had left on this trip on June 17. My wife and I met you guys as we were returning from our 25 day adventure on Route 66 and beyond. I think it was around Belfield or Richardton that we crossed paths. |
| 23rd June 2009 Rick Robinson | May have seen you on your return - From: Over the Big Horns to the Black Hills Mary and I traveled to Belle Fouche on Monday to accept delivery of my mother-in-law from Mary's sister who lives in Casper, Wy. for transport back to Bismarck. (seriously tho, I really do like my mother-in-law) Saw lots of bikes northbound while we were heading south from Belfield and one or two groups, noticed a motorcycle with training wheels so thought it might have been your group.. |
| 22nd June 2009 JoLynn Keller | Good memories - From: Over the Big Horns to the Black Hills These pics brought back good memories from several years ago when we went to Yellowstone by way of Montana and then home. Would love to drive through Spearfish canyon and eat a Latchstring Inn. That is such a beautiful area. Sounds like you enjoyed God's scenic highways and made it safely home. Miss you!! |
| 19th June 2009 Kristi F | Gas??? - From: Bear Tooth Pass stretched us all... Rob you shouldn't talk about gas right after you talk about food - it gets a little confusing - HA HA HA It's sounds you all are having a wonderful ride - be safe! |

| 18th June 2009 Rick R | One of my favorite rides - From: Day One: Bismarck , ND to Billings,MT Thanks, as always, for providing us with coverage of your excursions. Wish I was there. | 18th June 2009 Darin Will | I won't miss the next one. - From: Day One: Bismarck , ND to Billings,MT I am definitely sitting here at my work desk regretting that I wasn't able to make it on this trip. I will be penciling in the next trip for sure! |
| 18th June 2009 Tonya Sigl | Fresh air - From: Day One: Bismarck , ND to Billings,MT Sounds like you are enjoying yourself. I went for my first run this morning at 6am, and I agree, we need to take time to rejuvinate. Even if it is a walk around the block. |
| 14th June 2009 shelle michaels | Always great to see you - From: It's Been One Year! I have been a lucky one... as I know why you are busy and I still get to see you! Have a great day!! Today is not only Flag Day but the 234th Birthday of the US Army!! |
| 8th November 2008 RobKeller | Thanks Dave for your correction - From: Day 6 (July 3, 2008) Start at Mile 0-Dawson Creek Dave, Thanks for taking time to read the travel blog. I went back and checked my notes and you are right...I had that your dad came to the area in 1977. It was a typo but thank you for taking time to write and correct. I have to say that next time I come through Muncho Lake, I am going to spend more time and have several of your dad's breakfast...still haven't had one better. Take care my friend. |
| 5th November 2008 David Gunness | Nice post! - From: Day 6 (July 3, 2008) Start at Mile 0-Dawson Creek Hey there, Just finished reading your post on our place at Muncho. Your right, my dad is quite the character, and I still haven't heard all of his stories of his travels and the things he did. He's spent a long time building on what he started, and wanted to mention one thing. He actually wasn't even born in 1927, and I think he came up here in the late 70's to start his business. He was born in 1944, and still doing what he loves! Hope to see you drop in again someday! Cheers, Dave |
| 18th September 2008 Becky Kuss | Loved the adventure - From: Day 23 (July 20, 2008) Alaska Adventure Over---Lots of Memories I just wanted to say that I truely enjoyed reading your blog Rob. What and adventure! God has blessed you! Can't wait to read the 48 state adventure blog!! |
| 17th September 2008 Dallas | great trip - From: Day 23 (July 20, 2008) Alaska Adventure Over---Lots of Memories From a fellow retired Gaurdsman, congratulations on your fantastic trip. This is truly the trip of a life time. Something most Wing riders want to do, and a few actually do. I am also a Wing Rider from GF,ND. |
| 14th September 2008 Clint | One of the two finest roads in America - From: Day 22, (July 19, 2008) "Going To The Sun" Road Dangerous-Fun-Spectacular-Inspiring I grew up in this area before moving to Bismarck, ND. I absolutely love the Going to the Sun road and most recently made it out there on my honeymoon. I like to go fast on the first part, but when the really twisty stuff comes up the scenery helps slow a guy down. As a motorcyclist, I would say that this road is equaled only by Deals Gap, on the border between Tennessee and North Carolina. The Gap is a much faster road end-to-end, though...and a favorite blast route for motorcyclists. |
| 31st July 2008 Wendy | Ohio - From: Day 23 (July 20, 2008) Alaska Adventure Over---Lots of Memories My husband and I really enjoyed reading about your awesome trip! If you ever get up to Sandusky, OH on your bike, let us know. We are going to Alaska the summer of 2009, but we are not as brave as you-we are flying. Tim & Wendy |

| 28th July 2008 Rick Robinson | Great Ride - From: Day 23 (July 20, 2008) Alaska Adventure Over---Lots of Memories What a great trip, Rob...and a great life experience. Thanks for sharing in such great detail. Too many times we all do things that make great stories, but never take the time to document even a tiny bit of the experience. You have taken the time to contribute to everyones hope of one day setting out and experiencing a bit of the world and meeting the wonderful people in it. I hope to emulate this kind of trip in the near future, and will endeavor to share the adventure as well as you have done over the past weeks. Hope you are recovering well from your injury and your future trips are even more enjoyable....Rick |

Someday I would love to do the same! I don't take my bike on the open road much but I know exactly what your talking about when you talk about "... the wind in your face, the openness of the road, the freedom ...", the best part of my day is often the ride home from work on my motorcycle. |

| 22nd July 2008 Kevin Conklin | Road to the Sun - From: Day 22, (July 19, 2008) "Going To The Sun" Road Dangerous-Fun-Spectacular-Inspiring You are right.... there is no other road like this one. It is said that some people will go across only in one direction because they want to be on the inside lane and not next to the edge. I've been across it 4 or 5 times and the one that I rememer the most was on an early summer day and there were 3 or 4 places where run off water was flowing across the road. It was a very scary drive and your vehicle always felt to big for the narrow road. You will remember that stretch forever. |
| 22nd July 2008 gary a lund | - From: Day 22, (July 19, 2008) "Going To The Sun" Road Dangerous-Fun-Spectacular-Inspiring Rob, I spent some time in Glacier and would ride the" Slammers" up the Going to the Sun many times and we would always like to stand up in the Slammer with our heads looking out the roof and then look over the side.... great time and great view !! The term Slammers had a lot to do with the grade of the road and the breaks hopefully working when you needed them the most!! ga Gary A. Lund |
| 21st July 2008 Darin Will | Jealous - From: Day 21 (July 18, 2008) Bellingham to Spokane I know jealousy isn't right, but I must say 1 month on the road sounds like a lot of fun, especially with the scenery! I'm thinking that in your retirement you should start a business of being a tour guide for motorcyclists. You could pick a destination, plan it all and get folks to pay to ride with you! If you need an assistant, let me know! Glad to hear your trip has been safe and I have enjoyed reading your blogs! DW |

I'm envious of you, it would be great to be riding right next to you. I hope all was OK with your bike. Having been to Alaska, the theater in one, has no choice but to come out in you. It's got to be over whelming to ride through Alaska on a bike. Take Care! May God keep you safe on the rest of your adventure. Kurt |

| 10th July 2008 brad keller | - From: Day 12 (July 9, 2008) Regrouping In Anchorage Hey Rob, Great picture of Mt McKinley! Wish you could have been in Nepal with me to see Mt. Everest. Nepal has 8 out of the 10 highest mountain peaks in the world. Keep safe and we're praying for you.... Brad |
| 10th July 2008 Kevin Conklin | Latest member - From: Day 12 (July 9, 2008) Regrouping In Anchorage Rob, Interesting stuff and good news on your bike. The latest member left on Mt McK happened last Friday. Shortly after reaching the summit he had a heart attach and they buried him there as the team decided it was to risky to try and bring him down. To bad you were not able to see the mountaid because it's mass is spectacular. They say that 70% of the visitors to Alaska go to see Mt McK but only 30% are succesfull. Bikers are friendly and patriotic for sure. I'm a member of the Patriot Guard which is a band of bikers who attend military funerals and will create human walls to create a distance from possible hecklers. Kevin |
| 10th July 2008 Nate Williams | brrrrrr - From: Day 11 (July 8, 2008) Fairbanks to Anchorage...It was cold! Rob, glad to hear you made it through the cold day....just thought I would let you know it was about 90 back home today....hahahahha!!! Ok, so if I'm to be honest, I'd rather be riding right next to you!! Glad to hear all is still going well.....ride safe and take care!!! |
| 10th July 2008 JoLynn | Papa Smurf?? - From: Day 11 (July 8, 2008) Fairbanks to Anchorage...It was cold! I do agree that you really look like your Brother Brad with the beard and no hair. All the layers sorta of do remind me of Santa Claus with no hair. So sorry you did not get to see Mt. McKinnley. I hope you will pamper yourself and get a massage. Stay warm!! |
| 9th July 2008 chris keller | GPS - From: Day 11 (July 8, 2008) Fairbanks to Anchorage...It was cold! what happened to your GPS? Did it totally stop working? |
| 9th July 2008 Chuck Scott | Elmendorf ND connection - From: Day 11 (July 8, 2008) Fairbanks to Anchorage...It was cold! Rob, The only connection I know of for Elmendorf to ND is that the Assistant Command Chaplain for PACAF happens to be our very own Hooligan Chaplain Col William Ziegler. Col Z is here in ND now and his next PACAF duty will be in Hawaii but he does get out to Elmendorf occassionally. I am still watching this blog daily but I missed almost a week while on vacation. Looking back a few days I was happy to see you had posted some bear pictures, because what would an Alaska trip be without bears? If you are looking for a unique kind of Alaska gift for JoLynn try finding some Musk Ox wool products. The natives in Alaska have a monopoly on it, and they sell it in a little shop across the street from the bus depot in Anchorage. Be warned it is some pretty expensive stuff but well worth the cost. The wool is super soft and very warm. My wife can't stand having wool next to her skin but doesn't mind Musk Ox wool because there are no hooks in the threads like there are on sheeps wool. Keep up the great blog and stay warm. Chuck |
| 9th July 2008 JoLynn | Christmas - From: Day 10 (July 7, 2008) Today was the Northernmost leg of my journey. I know I would have loved that Christmas store and yes I would love to keep my tree up all year. I just don't want snow all year. |
| 9th July 2008 JoLynn | YOU DID IT!! - From: Day 9 (July 6, 2008) I RODE THE ENTIRE ALASKAN HIGHWAY! What a goal to reach--driving the entire Alaskan Highway solo. I am so proud of you. Thanks for sharing this trip with all of us. I did enjoy "the ride with you" from the comfort of home although a part of me would love to be with you. Stay warm and safe. Love and prayers. |
| 9th July 2008 Haley & Marah Hofer | Enjoying - From: Day 10 (July 7, 2008) Today was the Northernmost leg of my journey. Uncle Rob, We are loving the pics that you are posting. We enjoy finding out daily where you are. We can't wait to see all of your pics when you come to visit us again. Have a safe trip back.. We thought the North Pole was a lot farther??? At least that's what Dad says.. |
| 8th July 2008 Jody | Great pic and journal - From: Day 10 (July 7, 2008) Today was the Northernmost leg of my journey. Rob, I am enjoying yor pic and daily journal with much interest. A friend at work said to stop at a roadhouse between Fairbanks and Danali, its called Skinny Dicks Halfway Inn. You know, that you are going to do this again, don't you....only next time I will be riding with you....Jody |
| 8th July 2008 Darin | Enjoying - From: Day 10 (July 7, 2008) Today was the Northernmost leg of my journey. Rob, I have been enjoying your updates and am starting to get the itch to make a ride like that myself! You could publish a book entitled "Riding to Alaska on Motorcycle for Dummys" and I would probably buy one! Ride safe! DW |
| 8th July 2008 Erin H | This is Awesome! - From: Day 10 (July 7, 2008) Today was the Northernmost leg of my journey. Rob- this is such a great adventure! We are all keeping track of you and can hardly wait to find out what you'll do tomorrow! Have you been able to sleep with so much sunlight? Alaska looks beautiful! Good luck and thanks for the updates! |
| 8th July 2008 Pete Conlin | SPAM ALERT - From: Day 10 (July 7, 2008) Today was the Northernmost leg of my journey. I keep getting this spam from Rob Keller on my email. I think he must work for Alaska tourism or something. Not sure about that beard though...he looks like Papa Smurf. |
| 8th July 2008 Kevin Conklin | Mt McK - From: Day 9 (July 6, 2008) I RODE THE ENTIRE ALASKAN HIGHWAY! Rob, On your trip to Anchorage after passing the entrance to Denali Nat'l Park somplace between mile marker 133 and 150 you will pass a Vet Memorial with good volunteers running the visitor center. We stayed at Mt McKinley Princess Lodge at marker 133. Good place to eat with 3 dining choices in the main lodge and right next to the main lodge on the same property is the 20 3 20 grill which is something like a Chili's. The 20 3 20 is related to the height of Mt McK, 20,320 feet. What kind of gas prices are you finding? Anchorage, city wide was $4.39. Outside of Anchorage we were finding$4.60 to $5.10. Kevin |
| 7th July 2008 Carol Keller | - From: Day 3 (June 30, 2008) In the Canadian Rockies Rob we have really enjoyed your trip trough your blog. You have such a gift of writing. Its almost like talking to you face to face. You are in our prayers, stay safe. |
| 7th July 2008 Loren Carson | CONGRATULATIONS!!! - From: Day 9 (July 6, 2008) I RODE THE ENTIRE ALASKAN HIGHWAY! Rob, WAY TO GO !!! What an accomplishment!!! What a SOLO accomplishment....but looking at your daily blogs, probably the best way to do the trip! Thank you for sharing your trip (and your heart) with us!! Will look forward to your return. (Maybe will join you on one of the last legs) I just got done reading a novel on the civil war, so am thinking along those lines......but on the photo of you and bike by the Alaska signs, well, you kind of look like one of the conquering civil war generals I just got done reading about. And that is meant as a compliment! You Came. You Saw. You Conquered! You ROCK Rob Keller!! |
| 7th July 2008 Rick Robinson | I feel like I DID go with you... - From: Day 8 (July 5, 2008) Made it to Tok, AK Rob, thanks for the great travellog. I look forward to each and every one. Finally, something about boats...(S.S. Klondike). You know me, I would have had to stop and go through the entire boat. It's always nice to see that if you are stuck in dreary conditions on a boring day that making contact with the people around you in the places you stop can make all the difference in the world. Adam H and I rode up to Stanton for breakfast on Saturday (Cafe' Dumond). I was expecting French waiters with a name like that. Take care and God Bless....Rick |
| 7th July 2008 Kevin Conklin | Congrats - From: Day 9 (July 6, 2008) I RODE THE ENTIRE ALASKAN HIGHWAY! Rob, Congrats.... very interesting ride. Enjoy Alaska, what a beautiful state. To bad our trips did not over lap more than what they did and we could have had dinner together. Kevin |

| 2nd July 2008 Dan Vondrachek | Smoke - From: Day 3 (June 30, 2008) In the Canadian Rockies Rob, as you have probably heard, ND is full of smoke (haze) from fires buring in Alberta. Have you encountered or driven thru or near any of these fires? It sounds like things are going well, keep it on two wheels and continue to have a blast. For me, we were on our way home one year ago - We arrived back in Bismarck July5th!! Gods Speed my good friend. Dan Vondrachek |

| 2nd July 2008 Peggy Harms | Awesome Blog - From: Day 3 (June 30, 2008) In the Canadian Rockies Your June 30 blog really hit home. Jim and I have been through Banff and Lake Louise in 2001. Rode the tram, hiked to the weather station and I took in the Hot Springs after telling Jim to take a hike...literally. There were lots of forest fires so we were limited in where we could go. Really envy you the trip. God speed and can hardly wait to read more. |

| 2nd July 2008 Chuck Scott | Go'in Great - From: Day 3 (June 30, 2008) In the Canadian Rockies Wow, what an awesome trip. I am glad to hear the rangers are keeping large predators away from your camp, after my first comment any problem in that area would be unfortunate. The open road sounds like it is chock full of interesting people and you seem to have a knack for meeting them. The pix from the top of Sulphur Mountain look simply incredible. Keep up the great blog and keep the moleskin handy!!!! |

| 2nd July 2008 Everett Heringer | Sounds wonderful - From: Day 3 (June 30, 2008) In the Canadian Rockies Hi Rob, Thanks for the updates, I know it takes you time to put that nice site together with pictures, but it does give us a sense of your ride and beauty of God's creation. I always marvel at how a persons senses are stimulated on a motorcycle trip. You miss so much in a car. I like it to driving in a tube to get from point A to B. Joe and I did the trip all the way to Jasper and did experience the wonders of the Canadian Rocikies. They are so massive. It would be fun to do a father-son trip again, and get Chris on a long touring ride, you can't beat it . From here on, for the rest of you trip you will be so stimulated by the beautiful "10' surrounding. I learned about the numbering system on one of my previous trips to BC. I met some Canadians on a motorcycle and they were telling of rides I needed to take and how they classified them for 1-10. They did say that Western Canada had the most "tens". You have seen some already and will be seeing many more. Try to stop, and pause for a moment and reflect with the "tens" around you and enjoys God's presence and protection. This moment will be imprinted in your memory forever. Have a safe ride, enjoy. Everett |

| 30th June 2008 Ty Thorne | Community. - From: Day 2 on the Trans Canada Highway After reading the first two entries after departure, I am pretty sure that reading these are going to be on of the highlights of my day. | 30th June 2008 Everett Heringer | - From: DAY 1 (Thought it would never arrive!) Hi Rob, I am so happy for you on doing this trip. I have done many trips by myself or with my boys. Every trip is filled with memories. I went to the Black Hills last weekend, did 1000 milles and stayed with Carol's sister. Carol had a wedding and was to tired to go this time. Hey that's alright too. I like driving by myself just like you. Joe and I will be in Kodiak Island July 6-11 on a fishing trip. I look forward to the time with him. Have fun, get refreshed, and enjoy the smells and different weathers you will encounter. Everett |

It has been lots of fun getting ready for this trip and the planning. I miss having you around the PA shop but I have watched your career from a distance and I am proud of you. Stay in touch and if you are ever in Bismarck I know you will give me a call. Congrats on working the RNC. | 26th June 2008 brad keller | underwear - From: Side Trip To Spearfish Make sure you take old underwear that you want to through away instead of washing and you will be that much lighter throughout the trip. |
| 26th June 2008 Jessica Brokaw | You are so great! - From: Side Trip To Spearfish Rob- I tried to think of every excuse in the world to come to your retirement party, but work just didn't get done in time. Congrats on your retirement and then congrats again for getting your old job back. I have enjoyed reading your blog and the best is that you do it in true PR form....cutlines for your photos and all of the necessary background to make the reader feel like they were there! I hope you have an absolute blast on this trip. And for JoLynn, you have to remember how wonderful it is when Rob arrives at home! I'm so glad you included me to receive your blog. I can hardly wait until you're gone! Stay safe and remember digital pictures are free---take lots of them! On a side note, I volunteered for the Republican National Convention in Minneapolis as a "media something-something" (they won't tell me my title until it begins). I'm really excited to see all of the action unfold. And even better, I will be on the outside looking in. I hope it gives me a whole new perspective. Love, Jessica Brokaw |

| 19th June 2008 Carleen Jochim | Once in a Lifetime Opportunity - From: Planning Is All Done...just waiting Rob, what a great experience for you. My husband and I cruised the inside strait of Alaska last year. We had opportunities to leave the ship and take in some of the local culture and beautiful scenery. Having done that, we both said that we hope to go back someday, and be able to drive through the breathtaking countryside of Alaska, and stopping at the little towns and cities was so much fun. I was surprised at the daily change of temperatures, we went from wearing coats, and gloves one day to t-shirts and shorts the next. If you get a chance, I highly recommend the train ride in Skagway, the White Pass Train Ride, beautiful and so interesting! I'm looking forward to your pic's and blogs. |

| 19th June 2008 Ty Thorne | High Expectations - From: Planning Is All Done...just waiting Rob - I am amazed that you are the one that is taking the journey. You better bring Jolynn back one sweet gift. I pray that the time away for thought, reflection, and self assessment will be just as rewarding as the reunion that awaits you upon your return in seeing your second grand daughter for the first time. Many Blessings. |
| 19th June 2008 Shelle | NOTE TO SELF (ahem) - From: Planning Is All Done...just waiting The "movie comment" about "not a great movie to take your wife to when you will not see your wife for 30 days" is a riot. Jolynn... you are so awesome......................... Rob-- your blog is already enlightening............ i look forward to the read. I sent it thru the SA network... so you should be getting even more sign up. HEY... you can try to beat Murphy's unique hits record. |
| 17th June 2008 Vern | Green with Envy - From: www.themilepost.com Rob, from one biker to another, you know that I would rather be with you and your "Great Northwest Adventure" than remaining in the harness at FB. Of course, I no longer have my Goldwing (thanks to that automobile/goldwing schmuck-up), but I think my Nomad would perform pretty well. I am sorry that I will have to miss your sendoff party on the 27th, but as you know, I will be in Kansas. Ride safely, my friend, and may the wind always be on your back. Vern...... |
| 17th June 2008 Bob Peske | Go Rob Go! - From: Retired today from the National Guard Hey Rob. I'll be checking your blog all the way wishing I was there. Have a great trip and know that I will keep you in my prayers. God bless you! Bubba |

| 16th June 2008 Chuck Scott | The Road to Mandalay (Alaska) - From: www.themilepost.com Rob, Bear (you know I had to work rabid roaring ravenous bears into this somehow) in mind when you are blogging your trip, that many of us following the action will never get any closer to true motorcycle adventure than slapping our copy of “Easy Rider” into the DVD player. We don’t need any sore posterior stories or to hear about how many pounds of dead bugs you find in between your teeth. We are living vicariously through you on this trip and we expect you to realize The Dream. We expect this trip blog to be the greatest thing since Bob Hope and Bing Crosby went out on the Road to Mandalay. (no pressure) We want to hear about how you and your sidekick Billie get thrown into a jail in Mississippi and your lawyer Jack Nicholson gets you out just in time for Marti Gras. ( no pressure again) And if the trip isn’t that good - we expect you to lie. But seriously, I am green with envy and I’ll be watching for every posting and my wish for you is to have the kind of trip that leaves Peter Fonda spinning in the dust. God Bless, be safe and don’t forget to pack a little moleskin!!! Chuck Scott |
| 16th June 2008 Norrie | Bon Voyage! - From: Planned Route To Alaska Rob, I just subscribed and look forward to seeing photos and reading about your adventures on the road. I wish you good weather, well maintained roads and many friendly locals to chat with on your exploration. All the best! Norrie |
| 10th June 2008 Murph | Ride of a lifetime - From: www.themilepost.com Rob, you will have the ride of a lifetime. What a great experience. Don't forget to wear bells as you travel through Alaska...that way the bears know where you are; which might be a bad thing as well. Maybe you can do a TV show like survivor man where you eat bugs and snakes and melt snow (stay away from the yellow snow, it is not lemon flavoing). Can't wait to read more about the trip. This seems kind of like the movie Wild Hogs.. ha ha!!!! travel safe! Murph |
| 3rd June 2008 Heidi Thorne | Go Dad - From: Retired today from the National Guard So proud of your service but also even more excited on your retirement. Enjoy your trip; stay safe. Can't wait to hear all the details. It'll be beautiful. your daughter, Heidi |
