Dinner on a clear and beautiful night in Prague. Wonderful. Disneyesque! After an incredible day of seeing the beautiful sights in Prague, primarily Prague Castle and the accompanying St. Vitus Cathedral, we walked again across the Charles Bridge to have dinner. The weather was much more cooperative this evening. For those of you in Louisiana, we needed sweaters as it was 58 degrees. As you can see from the pics and the video, the view was spectacular! Very New Orleans like in that on the bridge, there are artists hawking their wares, including caricutures and portraits. There are also [View Full Entry]

Prague Day 2 012

Today we woke up to a rainy day in Prague but not to worry. Donned our LSU yellow panchos and ventured out into the sightseeing of Prague. Well, as all of you LSU fans may know, these panchos are designed to look straight ahead at the game before you and does not allow for any peripherial vision. That said, we had to turn our entire bodies to look for cars, trains, trams busses or each other. We got a lot of stares because everyone else was in clear panchos (thus, remedying the peripherial vision problem). Our first visit was to the [View Full Entry]

Hello everyone! Well, once we arrived in Prague after a wonderful train ride, we rested for a bit at the hotel and watched the tennis match until it was interrupted by rain. Thanks to Al for the final update. We walked down to the river to the Charles Bridge. Every building was a photo opportunity. Prague was left virtually untouched by WWII and you can certainly tell. We had drinks at a bar on the river overlooking the bridge. Well, it started to drizzle and then a big "rain drop" fell on my shoulder. I said to Robert, That was not [View Full Entry]

So we visitied the Berlin Wall and Check Point Charlie. We hadn't realized that the wall went up August of 1961. Before there had been travel restrictions but the wall went up then. Check Point Charlie was the place where east met west. There isn't much of the wall left. We did go to one area where they have preserved the Wall and show how the East German govenrment created a "death strip" between the wall and East Berlin, not allowing anyone to leave East Berlin. Very interesting! In addition to seeing the historical sites, we did some people watching while [View Full Entry]

Brandenburg Gate then.

So it rained all day July 4th. We did get out that night and have an excellent dinner by our hotel. Slept until 9:30 (we both have slept so welll in Europe). Then we headed out for a tour of Berlin. It is a huge City. Bigger than Paris with over 3 Million people. Great public transportation. We went from on end of the city to the other. The American Embassy was dedicated today and George HW Bush (former President) was suppose to be there (we did't see him). [View Full Entry]
