We finally made it! From DC to the REAL Washington! We left Montana this morning and drove 11 hours. And then got to uhaul, were told we had to turn in the trailer immediately (since itwas illegally attached to an explorer), unloaded all of our stuff into a storage unit in 30 minutes and then headed to sarahs house. So now we're at a bar. Obviously. Hanging out with sarahs cousins. Obviously. We'll be uploading pics to facebook soon. Too lazy to go upstairs to get my computer earlier at sarahs house earlier. We miss you all so much!! Comment on our blog or call us or text us. We need the confirmation of your love for us. ... read more

The reason this blog is so late? We've been at the corner of "no" and "where" all day long. After 16 hours on the road, we finally arrived outside Bozeman, MT. After our jaunt to 1880s town, we made another fun stop at Wall Drug, a ginormous tourist trap in Wall, SD. We were lucky to get out, only purchasing a piece of clothing each (and milkshakes, of course.) Next up was Mount Rushmore, where Freddie and Gimli bravely marched us into the Black Hills. Quick stop to take lots of pics and get back on the road to.... ...the Crazy Horse memorial. Don't know exactly what it is? Neither did we....Turns out it's GOING to be a huge carving ala Mt Rushmore of Crazy Horse on his horse. But they've been working on it since ... read more

Our day of sightseeing, and longest day of driving, began at 7:15am (our earliest start so far). Our first stop was an unplanned visit to 1880s Town, which is exactly what it sounds like. We spent 45 minute running (literally at times) through the town taking pictures and occasionally yelling "god I love 1880s town". Diana is still a little upset that Sarah vetoed the $5 costume rental (for time purposes) which we could have taken pictures in all over town. Diana was so excited to see that they had cisco (the horse from Dances With Wolves) only to be traumatized when she found out that meant that they had him stuffed/rotting in his final dead position from the movie. ... read more

We made it to Chamberlain, SD tonight. The bad news? We're 3 hours short of our goal for the day. The good news? We made the smart decision NOT to stay in Sioux Falls, play at a carnival and drink tons of beer at Ladies/Karaoke Night at a bar called Rookies with the employees of the Granite City Brewery. We think it was a good call. We'll need all the sleep we can get, as we have a very ambitious schedule for tomorrow. We are hoping to see Wall Drug (some sort of large drug store that boasts of 5 cent coffee, western wear, and more,) Mt Rushmore, the Crazy Horse Memorial, and Deadwood...all before driving an additional 9 hours to Missoula, Montana. Today's state summaries: - Minnesota: We were sad to leave, although Freddie was ... read more

So Diana (didn't chicken out and) dyed he'd hair red! Everyone who has seen it agrees that it looks amazing. You can decide for yourself when we upload pictures tonight. So now we are now hanging out in Sioux Falls South Dakota even though we still have 5.5 hours to drive before Rapid City (We haven't had beer in over 3 days and we found a brewery, so yeah, that explains that). On the way to dinner (see beer) we saw an amusment park, so we might be here for a while. UPDATE: Diana may have found a new apartment in record time using only her iPhone. We will let you know when it's official. ... read more

Success! We have completed our totally unecessary detour into Iowa. Highlights: - Gimli's first trip down a gravel road (he was a total trooper) - Half mile trek out into a muddy corn field in flip flops - 4 minutes of pictures at the site of the crash - Return trek went a little quicker when we finally just took off our shoes and went barefoot. - Chatted briefly with some passing farmers and were welcomed to Iowa. - About half an hour of shoe and foot washing before we could get back into the car. - Once safely back in MN we stopped at a SuperAmerica gas station where there was running water so we wouldn't look homeless and filthy when as got to Diana's hair appointment in Sioux Falls SD (although we probably looked ... read more

Good morning guys. We got a earlier start today, still haven't quite made our goal departure time of 8:00am, but tomorrow is another day. We are about to cross into Iowa (which is not on the way to Seattle, but diana needed to add another state to her list) and see where Buddy Holly crashed (because Sarah's little sister is obsessed with him). We just crossed into Iowa and our love of Minnesota only grows upon seeing their excellent state line signage. Our ultimate goal for the day is Rapid City SD we'll keep you posted if anything happens before that. Also notice that we added pics to the old posts last night, and we will add more tonight. Note: Diana still hasn't needed to let Sarah drive (which is fine with her). ... read more

After our slow start, we covered a lot of ground today. Here's a quick state summary: Indiana: We were in Indiana for a good while before noticing, due to lack of signage....not great for a state that has such a cute name (inDIANA) Illinois: Probably our worst experience so far. Tons of traffic, we almost ran out of gas, became fugitives from the law, and did NOT win the lottery. Wisconsin: The signage was the biggest disappointment of all. "Wisconsin Fun, next exit"?!?! Could you be more vague?!? And highways with such creative names as "B" or "MM". And exits like "B French Is"...um, what?!?! And don't get Diana started on the dells....she spent all day wondering what the Wisconsin Dells were/was (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dells_of_the_Wisconsin_River) and Sarah spent that time laughing hysterically and refusing to use an iphone ... read more

We are no longer fugitives from the Chicago law, but we do have a $20 ticket in the mail and a new tollbooth friend. Also, Sarah hasn't driven at all yet (hour 14). ... read more
