Gotta LOVE it! - From: My Hometown
I don't know whether or not what I'm writing here goes back to you, Rin, or whether this is posted for everyone on the net, but I just have to comment on one of our Mother Earth's most beautiful spots...I first got to know Sarasota and the area when I was in college and had a fraternity brother from Sarasota. We spent every Spring Break there and it was about this time that I claimed Sarasota and the keys as my own. I became VERY attached to the area as it immediately staked a special place in my heart. After I graduated, one of my best friends enrolled in the Ringling School of the Arts and we spent even more time there with "Rube". It was becoming more and more like home. Rube ended up living in Sarasota for a while after he graduated so we spent even more time there. Lo and behold, next, our dearest friend and her new husband packed up, (and gave their old car a "Viking funeral") and headed south to start a new life from Ohio. Where did they end up but Sarasota. Now it really became our "home away from home" They had a beautiful baby girl who instantly became our second child. We HAD to go to Sarasota to help take care of her! Some of our happiest and most memorable times have since been spent in Sarasota...Our friend "Rube" took in our brother and sister and helped them acclimate to the area. They instantly hit it off with the crowd and became a part of the "Ringling Circle" Who didn't know that would happen?! ... The Baha Hut became the neighborhood watering hole. Ouch!! The husband's 2 kids from a previous marriage moved down......the wife's sister moved down with her kids, then the wif'e's parents moved down to retire in this beautiful area. Small world that it is, 20 years later, our closest friends from Newton moved down to the area to be with their son who had just recently landed in this area with his work. Their son was already another of our extended family having been one of our son's best friends and his mentor. This young man married a native daughter to the area...Funny how our lives have been pulled so strongly this area that we love so much. It is truly a special place where our dearest friends in the world live. We are "Lucky Ducks" to have such close and wonderful ties to the area. We love you, Rin! You knnow you are the 2nd child of ours that I mentioned here. You are doing a wonderful job and you make us proud. Love to all. We hope to make it back down soon. Love, B & K

Hello Rin, Happy New Year! Wow, what great pictures. Im very jealous. Skiing has to be my favourite sport after long distance elbow shuffling. You looked like you had a great time. I think you've helped resolve my mind that my next holiday will be skiing. Not for a while though. I'm moving to London in a month. You have to send me your mobile number again as I lost my phone. It's replaced and I have the same number. I can't have you disppearing from the UK without me visiting once. Take care. x

I like your view - From: NZ Pictures
It was refreshing to read your opinion on just how 'travel' has affected you- I am at a stage where I want to get 'out there' again but the ennui of work and family life at times leave one feeling somewhat forlorn. Still- your photographs and words have made me feel more hopeful so thank you. Regards Robert Neumayr rneumayr@barrick.com.au

Popping frogs - From: Bournemouth University
Hey Rin, looking good. Glad to see you've settled in - and by the sea as well. I really miss the Cairns days where the sea was only a few meters away and it was warm! 1 out of 2 isn't bad for Bouremouth though. As you know you are very welcome to come up and stay in Manchester any time - just give me a couple of weeks notice. Keep smil'n. PJ Ben
