Brought up in the ghetto of Chesterfield, UK I graduated from Lincoln Uni in 2005 in Advertising & Marketing. After just missing out(didn\'t want them anyway) on big contracts with Advertising companies and a possible deal with an unknown Premiership club (that was a joke, I\'m Championship standard, probably) I travelled Eastern Europe with my best buddies. From there I moved to Geordie Land with a select few of them and one southerner for a year, jumping on the temping gravy train! Here I shamoned for a year and moved back to Ches Vegas to \"sort my life out\" in September 2006. From then in October down in Strawberry Moons, Maidstone I met a absolute gem of a girl, by the name of Gill and we\'ve hooked up ever since!
Now we\'ve been together for 6months, travelling/working the world seemed bosh...obviously.
I\'m late with this travelblog stuff and writing this 2 weeks into our trip around the world! Even though we\'re not travelling as such for the first part of our journey we\'ve got so much planned my blog will be ram shanked throughout!

Another two weeks gone and time to add to the entries! I left you last time coming back from Auckland and the following week was all about getting a cold and looking forward to the half marathon!?! Not the best combination! It was Queens weekend for us here which meant Monday off. The marathon was on the Sunday morning and by the time it got to Friday, Gill was suffering big time and I was (unknown to me) getting what she had! Saturday 2nd June 2007 Today was the last of the big horse meets in NZ - in a place called Ashburton about an hour away. That started in the afternoon but I still needed to get my application down to the Town Hall so after heading to the Clinic for Gill to check the ... read more

Monday 21st May 2007 Jumped on Air New Zealand on monday morning preparing for a week's training at both Auckland's hostels. I wasnt sure what I was really going to do - a bit of front desk, talk to few people and look busy...sounds like management talk David? (Brent The Office 2000) Flight was delayed, but once I was there, I was shown round by the manager Steve who loved motorsport and footy so I was sorted straight away. I worked on the systems and learnt the guest database and generally chat with the staff! They had organised a few things for me to do - bus tour, meet others, go out for few beers for someones leaving due stuff like that! The day went smoothly and I thought this isn't so bad for a week! ... read more

Saturday 19th May 2007 We, in the previous week, had decided that the weekend of the May 19th would be dedicated to whales. Kaikoura was about 2 hours away and was the best place to go whale watching, swim with dolphins and seals. Its a must and we know why now. After a jog on the saturday...more hills..you know the score by now, we headed north to Kaikoura. We called into the supermarket on the way, and I decided to buy half of it - from cookies to reduced yoghurts, everything! Gill was not impressed as we didnt need half of it and we realised that I have a problem when I go into supermarkets! The lads from Newcastle will vouch for this, but when I head into supermarkets I buy shitloads....anything on offer, anything reduced ... read more

After a few weeks away from the blog I've got more travel updates for you all! The last entry was the Punakaiki weekend so heres all that follows. I started work at YHA NZ on the wednesday which was cool. Loads of things to do and the people were sound. I realised from then that I had alot more responsibility and actually had to try! So settling down to work made life in Christchurch made it feel more real and that I wasnt just here for the holiday! The weekend (12th May) started on Friday with a trip to cinema to watch Spiderman. I couldnt wait and had been bugging Gill all week to go! Anyway it sucked. Totally gutted. Gill was on call and she had the chance to 'drive' one of the trainers trotters ... read more

Saturday 5th May 2007.... Feeling a little delicate on saturday we woke to brilliant sunshine. Armed with a bag full of sweets, a digital camera and a few over night clothes (which was to screw us over later) we headed towards the Alps along Highway 73 around 10am!! We were going straight in between them and the closer we got the more amazing they looked! These mountains stretch for miles and the real big ones are snow covered. We couldn't help but constantly stop and get out to take photos the nearer we got! The views we're awesome and Gill is a dab hand with the camera and got some cracking shots! I left her to the photos as my attempts were laughable! We headed through shantytowns (one called 'Sheffield', which was literally a shop, ... read more

After a week of shamoning and getting into routine, the first meeting with British counterparts came by Jo Threadgold and her friend Claire, who were travelling and blistzing the southern hemisphere. Having not seen Jo since (as she recalls) my sisters 21st it was pretty much random that we were meeting up in NZ!! We all met Thursday in a huge Sports Bar and got on graet! We and took advantage of the cheap drinks offers with Jo and Claire telling us about the big game on Friday! Yes its Rugby and Jeffo and Stevo will love me for this, the others not so much, but we got tickets to watch the biggest game of the year...Crusaders vs the Chiefs! We hooked up tickets with the promotional girls at the Sports Bar and I blagged a free ... read more

....arriving in Christchurch I was finally met by Gill and it was a great. Such a relief to see her!! We headed back to Christchurch and to our place in Cashmere! Gill had sorted the place out, furniture everything! She'd done such a great job, having hardly any time and working too! Our place is on Porthills in Christchurch which looks over the city. Really beautiful scenery and on a clear day you can see the snow cover Southern Alps in the distance! You have a better idea when the photos are uploaded!! Its a 2 bed room apartment with big windows and a balcony looking over the city. Its awesome and Gill has pulled off a blinder finding it! The first couple of days jetlag hit home and my body was screwed over! I went ... read more

UK TO NZI headed out to LA on the 21st April 2007, with Virgin Atlantic. Arrived the same day in the afternoon and headed straight to my hotel, the Doubletree. Room was sweet and huge. Ate steak and had a few beers at the Hotel Bar but collapsed for an early night watching Basketball and getting an awesome surprise chat from my sister, Louise on the hotel room phone! Woke early the next day and headed to Manhattan and Hermosa Beaches. The day consisted of walking along the beaches, dominating an American Pancake, French Toast, Bacon Breaky and watching the Lakers vs Orlando Magic in an Irish bar called Patrick Molloys. Here I met some random Americans who didnt know each other and we stayed there all day! The weather let me down but the ... read more

I'm writing this 2 weeks into our trip around the world! Its a bit late into it but with all the things we're going to be doing I needed somewhere to remember it all and for you all to see!! Even though we're not travelling as such for the first part of our journey we've got so much planned my blog will be ram shanked throughout! It all started in rainy February and Gill found work in Christchurch NZ. We both knew how much fun we'll have and it was only a few days before the wheels were in motion and bookings we're made! We thought whilst we're out there we want to see as much of the world as we can, so we've got a variety of places to see after our stay here! Gill ... read more
